I seem to remember spotting more interaction between Caroline & Stephanie at the weekend festivities than I have seen for a long time. They are now so rarely together at official occasions, that I made a point of looking out for this. Imo, there didn't appear to been the forced exchanges that appeared to characterise their relationship in the past.
It was sad however, to see both women sat next to each other, surrounded by their flourishing offspring, without any of the fathers able to share in this family occasion.

Interesting observation, Elly C., as regards none of the fathers being there for this special occasion.

I mean I understand why Princess Stephanie's ex-husband didn't show, because IIRC he's married to another now?

But what I found a bit sad was that Prince Ernst-August of Hannover couldn't even stand by his estranged wife's side when she needed an escort on this most auspicious and rarest of occasions ~ the marriage of her only brother & sovereign. Whereas Caroline stood by his side when he needed her to testify before court to acquit him of hitting a nightclub owner or some such things years ago, and this right after pictures were published of Ernst cavorting with another female. Still, Caroline did her duty, and stood by his side. Yet he couldn't even do that for her, just this once. It speaks ill of his character.

On the bright side, I love how his sons were there for their stepmother, siblings, uncle, and aunt; it truly was like a beacon of light!

By the way, I think this is why there were different matchups & pairs at the Gala Ball, in order to make sure that both of Albert's sisters had escorts, which speaks highly yet again of Prince Albert. Always kind, always thoughtful.

As to the other, I see no estrangement; the family comes together for the Rose Ball, Red Cross Ball, National Day, Christmas, and other festivities throughout the year. :)

Lastly, regarding smiles, never judge a book by its cover. Just because some people don't have a smile plastered on their face 24/7 like a jack-o-lantern means naught. Personally, I recall the first time I met my best friend I thought she was so mean because she never smiled, yet she turned out to have the kindest heart I've ever encountered amongst friends. On the contraire, I know this one doctor that has a smile like one of the Osmonds, yet his character is vile. Therefore, I say do not judge a book by its cover, truer words were never spoken...

...

Are you being fair here or making an assumption?

Are you sure he wasn't there because he didn't want to go or because she didn't want him there by her side?

Without confirmation that it was his decision and not hers I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

All the reports I have read are that they are effectively separated and living totally separate lives but aren't filing for divorce - so divorced in effect but not on paper.

.
I'm sorry but do you have some private information to say all this??

Because the situation WE KNOW is the following:

- Since now 2 years, Prince and Princess of Hannover, live separately and they have never appeared together in public.

- Noone of them, neither the Monaco Palace has made any declaration about their marital sityation

- They still remain legally married, and she still bears her title

- I'm persuated that this behavior of both is product of a common agreement between them, because both respect this line.

- What really happened between them remains completely uknown to the large public (TO US).

So how could you say that HE WAS UNABLE to stand in his wife's side? It means that SHE begged him and HE refused? Despite being separate, their separaration looks "harmonic", without crises or explosiv declarations, or any other animosity. EA son's presence at the wedding isthe proof of this harmony.

So please, unless YOU know something WE do not know, I consider that it is not fair to blame noone of the two parties for their "marital" behavior.

I was relieved to see Ernstie and Christian at the wedding, and that Ernst senior did not show up.

I am sad that there has been so much marital trouble for Prince Rainier's Children, I hope the next generation has an easier time of finding life-long partners.

I hope (with finger crossed) for Charlene to be happy so that she & Albert can remain married, and raise any children they may have together.

May Caroline and Stephanie be truely happy too.

I'm not gonna go into the whole Ernst situation, because I partly blame Caroline. I don't know much about Steph's marital situations, but yeah, that is an interesting observation: only the matriarchs were present. Ah well. Thanks for clearing up about their behavior at the wedding. I wasn't able to see it on my mobile phone, and also I was on the way back from a very relaxing, shopalicious vacation which is probably the most soothing time in the world. Anyways, I'm glad that they were talking and getting along. I had heard that Alex and Camille were very chatty but from what we've seen of Alexandra, she's such a vivacious outgoing child. I love that. Charlotte has always seemed very reserved and standoffish, even as a kid. The only time she seems to relax is around her family and friends. Alexandra seems to be bubbly all the time.

I saw part of the civil and religious ceremony and Stephanie looked quite sad and with this air of melancholy as if she didn't fit .........
Also did you ever see she or her children on Caroline's yacht?
I am sure I have never seen Steph or her kids on Pacha III during all these years.

Olycom - News

There are some pictures of Charlotte talking with Pauline, and sticking close to her Aunt Steph.

I believe the Cairaghis are very close to Albert & Stephanie (I think Steph is Godmotherfor Andrea). They are thousand of pictures of the trio as children on holidays with Alber and Steph.
The opposite is for Caro + Steph's kids. Never saw their aunt take care of them.

I think we are speculating too much. We donīt really donīt how the relationships are. Caroline ans Stephanie live a few meters apart, on the same street. Even if they do not attend the same events, the cousins probably see more frequently than we know. Btw Caroline is Paulineīs godmother.

It's interesting... these photos show a strong bond between the two sisters. A disguised, unadmitted and yet so strong love... These two women have had such difficult lives, they went through so much together ( even when they were apparently apart ), that they're bound to grow old toghether comforting each other with memories of past loves, joys and laughters, with children and grandchildren all around them.... Time is a great healer, it soothes the edges of old quarrels and fights, bringing to the scene, in all its glow, what really is important in their lives: the awareness of who they are, and where they come from. That's after all, the only hertage worth living for.

Lazuli - even though they may not like one another, but they were together at key occasions, all through their lives, and their children's lives.

Caro and Steph?
Caro and Al?
Steph and Al?

And which children are the closest to Albert and Charlene?

These are questions we cannot answer. It would be pure speculation, we can only get an idea from pictures
we've seen, but that's also not a basis for a final judgement as only parts of their lives are documented .

Of course Prince Albert, Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie have been asked about their relationships as
siblings, but they would not reveal any preferences.

Preferences change anyway, and in a "trio" there is always the chance of two freezing out the third.

It's something I've observed throughout my life with my mother and her two sisters.

One of the things that impresses me about Albert is his apparent ability to unite the family - I honestly don't think this is just down to loyalty to the "family firm", I get the impression that both sisters feel tremendous affection for their brother & happily there appears to be no hostility towards Charlene. Albert also includes his nephews & nieces in various functions & supports them in their endeavours. In terms of relationships between family members, things seem to be pretty normal (or as near to normality as a Royal family can be).
