Stephanie wore several diamond ear studs, a pendant on a velvet ribbon, no rings or earrings. Charlene had simple drop earrings, no bracelets or rings. Other ladies attending the ball wore significant jewels. Why such understated jewelry on Caroline, Stephanie and Charlene?
Perhaps I have been living in a bubble but are these velvet ribbons still in fashion?? I thought they were out before Global warming was in.........

I can somewhat relate to them; my oldest brother and I see each other at family functions about 2 times a year, which is enough for us! LOL. I love him, but we don't exactly see eye to eye on a lot of things. We're totally different animals, as I suspect Caroline and Steph are.

Anyway, just wondering.
I do not know Johnnie but they seem to have totally different lifestyles. P Caroline always struck me as a snobish person while Stephanie seems to embrace everyone (not a good thing but this is way, way off topic) I doubt these two will ever be bosom buddies.

I wonder why Caroline never wears a chignon in the evening?? This is a look that would go perfectly with her classical features. Instead it's always that same, tired shoulder length cut with bangs that she's had for almost two decades.

I bet she'd look gorgeous with an upsweep at one of these events, she has a lovely neck and shoulders.

yipes a short dress steph ?? Thought it was black tie event people, nice dress wrong event for it though. And while I like Charlenes dress not the most acceptable for a rulers escort for the evening IMO to much flesh displayed for the role she is in.

^^ you nearly took the words from my mouth. Stephanie's dress seems to be the prettiest, but it wasn't exactly appropriet (just as Caroline's short dress wasn't appropriet at the Rose Ball). And Charlene seems to be trying almost too hard, and she's going over the mark. Her dress in my opinion was a little tacky, too low cut, and with that giant tacky flower emphasising how much she does NOT know what she is doing. I almost want to put my arms around her and hug her.

I too am disappointed in the ladies. The men were far better dressed and presented than the ladies. I know someone likened Albert to a penguin, but at least he looked presentable and not a fashion disaster. Ivana's hubby Rossano also looked well.

Perhaps the idea of a "Ball" has changed over the decades, and sartorial rules don't seem binding anymore. Just look at Bill Wyman and his missus. Go back 20 years, and they would have been banned from a ball. Nowadays everything seems allowed.

But there should still be standards on how the "top team" (i.e. the Princely Family) ought to dress and behave at an annual 'keynote' function. I think it's sad when the real reason for the Ball is overshadowed by the sartorial faux pas of the Prince's entourage.

I'm afraid the prince plays a part in that? I don't think he looked like a Penguin? (besides penguins don't have white backs!) Albert looked very nice but he let's himself get overshadowed too often! This event is about the Grimaldi's and the Red Cross and the people who support it when they buy a ticket, who would probably like it if they were included in some of the photos on occasion, but as it stands I think only the family should be showcased - This year it was hard to find one picture that showcased any of them individually. I would have liked to see more of all of the family, on both sides? If they were in attendance? It was hard to tell? I thought the women all looked pretty nice, Stephanie should have worn a long dress for this event, but it was a pretty dress and it looked nice on her, and Caroline looked very elegant like she always does. Charlene's dress was not my taste, but minus her not being a little more conservative with exposing as much flesh as possible, as Albert's companion? She looked fine, but she is not part of the family? Charlene as far as I can tell, is still just a guest there? It just seems the event doesn't get the right exposure for the rights reasons! Who decides which agencies will cover the event and how it well be covered? This is a private event, yes? I just think it is the Grimaldi's that are hosting here, no one else? So if it appears that someone else is always the focus of attention or the guest of honor here, I think Albert has some say about that --so regarding his entourage? Let's hope next year the ball returns to the premier event is use to be in the past! Maybe even better!

Hahaha! Let's just say I'm glad that Caroline and Stephanie seem to have inherited their mother's dislike for plastic surgery.

I forgot which book that is, but I've read that Princess Antoinette has undergone numerous facelifts. And true enough, her face looks unnaturally smooth and youthful given her age. Elisabeth's face is so overtaut, what a huge contrast between her face and her neck.

I think she was born around 1944-1945...that would make her 64 or 63 years old.

As far as i'm concerned all the ladies wore beautiful dresses. Surely, Stephanie's dress, though nice, wasn't at all suitable for the occasion. Caroline's, on the other hand, was much more beautiful than the terrible one she wore at the Rose Ball, in March. Charlene was also dressed upfor the occasion. However, i don' t understand why did Charlene appear in the first row instead of Ps. Caroline and Stephanie. After all, Charlene isn't a Grimaldi ( for as much as she may be considered a girlfriend (?) or a fiancée (?) of P. Albert, she's is indeed nobody, and until she marries "de facto " Albert, the only real LADIES of the principality as Caroline and Stephanie and are the ones who have the right to appear in the first row.

she is in the first fow because they are trying so hard to promote her, but they are going to need a lot of help with that, if they want to promote her in a good way they will give her a charity to work on not some stage wanna princess, maybe caro must be upset but it all albert doing he does not know how to sperate personal lives from offical works.

Unfortunately, I think that Alberto has the "Oedipus complex". He has tried to find a woman who resembles his mother. I hope he is really in love, because if he isn´t in love of Charlene they have a big problem. Charlene has a great responsibility to try to become the closest thing to Princess Grace. However, we all know that Grace was unique, and no one may not even become a bit like her. All the best to Charlene (poor woman...)

I've just seen the pictures of the ball....Charlene looks amazing!
So nice to see the family together again. Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie look great!
Although this topic is not about Princess Grace I have to agree with amad1108 Princess Grace was unique. She was royal even before she became Royalty. That is not something that can't be said about every Royal.....(I will not name names, don't want to step on anyones toes)

Thank you for all of the pictures of Monaco Red Cross Ball that everyone posted! Princesses Caroline and Stephanie and Charlene looked so beautiful! I am wondering if anyone have a video of the Red Cross Ball? Someone posted a video on this thread but the video won't open on my computer. However, I have Windows Media player. Hope someone would tell me where I can find the video of the Red Cross Ball. Thanks in advance.

he has been quoted as saying that is why he has not married as yet because his poor would be bride would be compared to his mother grace and he thought that would be unfair.
