It was in this interview, her final one, where she said that she'd like to be remembered as a decent and caring human being who did her job right. When asked about her children she said that how did the press dare to assume her feelings and thoughts.
Then it was Barbara Walters! I do hope they rerun that interview for the 25th anniversary this year.
Yes, its morbid but us Yanks get to see so little of Princess Grace, most of whats shown is Actress Grace material.

I believe it.

"GRACE Kelly had an extramarital affair with the handsome, ad-exec hubby of her best friend and bridesmaid Carolyn Reybold"

. . . .
"Leigh also writes of affairs Kelly is rumored to have had with Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra. "She had a great deal of romantic opportunities and she could hardly be blamed for taking them," Leigh said. "She was the world's first liberated woman - and besides, Rainier was so unfaithful."

In Europe we believe in freedom of speech, but Grace Kelly is no longer between us to defend herself from these allegations, and in my opinion Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco was A LADY! And nothing people say are going to stain her past or her legacy.

Very well said, flowerpower and I totally agree with you about that.

Here are some clippings of Grace, they are quite small, but nevertheless very nice, the portraits with her kids are nice and especially the one with little Steph is too cute:

What Grace did inside her home, when she was still unmarried was her own business. If Rainier chose her as his spouse meant that she was worth that role, and perhaps he guessed she had the capabilities to become a good princess, despite what people said across the ocean, and in his own country.
Neither are her kids allowed to judge her mother's past, let alone those who never met her, including ourselves.
I also happened to read a couple of biographies of her. One was written by James Spada, and the other was almost a copy of that book.

Default Glistening Seas

while i think everyone is human, i must say that most anyone could see at the look in Prince Ranier eyes in their pics together the guy was absolutely happily married from the few pictures i have seen he seemed like a truly contented man with his life and family and that's pretty hard to hide imho. are there any books that PA or family or palace would or could suggest as interesting reading about this topic--for those of us whom have never read a book on this topic. however, i would like to read something that was something more than hype. any suggestions or OpInioNs out there

You are most welcome, maymayflying.
And in addition to what you said, Glistening Seas, I think it would have been much harder NOT to be "absolutely happily married" with a woman like that

Here is another pic of Grace, I hope it has not been posted before:

I'm reading it now and enjoying it. There is one inaccuracy I think however.
The author states that neither Rainier or Grace attended the funeral of President Kennedy in November, 1963. I could swear I've seen photographs of Rainier marching in the procession and/or greeting Jacqueline Kennedy at the reception that followed in the White House. Anybody else remember this or able to find the photographs?

From what I have read in other biographies, Grace and Rainier did not attend JFK's funeral. They had a Memorial Mass at St. Nicholas Cathedral for the assassinated president though. Again, this is what I have read from books (The Bridesmaids, Once Upon A Time, etc).

Grace also was victim to a sensationalized incident surrounding those days. She was pictured firing a toy rifle at a carnival in Monaco the day before JFK's assassination. The publishers however ran the photo days after JFK's death with captions indicating that it was so insensitive of Monaco's American-Irish Princess to be firing a gun at the time the American-Irish President was shot.

I agree with you, flowerpower. The book seems to be full of rumours and nasty gossip. I would never buy this book.
