I must agree with you Sebastian. There have been many unfair posts about Charlene. If she is who Albert chooses, so be it. She will receive the proper training & they will polish her up. Albert is the only one who can decide who is right for him to spend the rest of his life with.

Interesting, but I don't remember seeing Caroline on the balcony at any point. I remember Charlene talking to Ernst, the Casiraghis, Albert, and others but do not remember seeing her and Caroline in the same picture once. "Observers watching the royal box...noted Charlene...with...Caroline by her side." Not that it matters, but I don't remember seeing them side-by-side on the balcony? did anyone else see that?

I thought I read somewhere that there is a photo of Caroline sticking her tongue out behind Charlene. (Nota Bene: I just read this, I don't know how true it is, so this could be fact, fiction, or something in between.)

Now, just to reflect, wasn't there all of this kind of speculation when he was dating Tasha and Alicia???? Is there any photographic evidence that Charlene met with Monsignor Barsi??? I think this is all speculation. While it hasn't been denied by the Palace, they are calling her official companion and just said three weeks ago that there are no wedding plans. I would have taken a "no comment" as a tacit agreement to the fact that an engagement announcement is imminent, but to me, their statement is pretty much the same thing as a denial. Even though UPI has picked up a smallish version of the story, I'm beginning to wonder how true it is. Is Charlene living in Monaco now? If so, that is a definite sign as living in that country pretty much says it all -- although the official companion story may be a way that Albert can take her to state/official events now without having to be engaged to her and Charlene isn't hidden like some dirty little secret. Any thoughts, anyone?????

Yes, and he took NC too and probably others to different events. We'll have to wait & see what happens with CW. Time will tell if she can hold out for him, given he seems to not make super serious commitments. Nothing wrong with that, CW seemed to be enjoying herself and I hope she comes out with him again.

PA has not done anything different than what he has done in the past on this. It's just been a little while since there have been pics with him and his girlfriend in public and acknowledged as an item.

Charlene Wittstock's last steps, before becoming the new Princess of Monaco

Albert II promised it to the citizens of Monaco, once he assumed the throne, and everything seems to indicate that he is decided to keep his own word. In fact, the Monegasque people believe that Charlenne is going to become the new Grace of the principality and that they won’t have to wait long time so that the Sovereign announces the engagement.

Although one of the employees of Albert’s cabinet press says the Prince is very reserved, regarding his sentimental affairs, for Alberto II the eminent moment seems to have arrived.

The small Monegasque State waits with much expectancy an official announcement: the engagement and wedding of its Prince with Charlene Wittstock, who seems to have definitively conquered his heart.

Church and ring
Although the spokesman of the Royal House didn’t want to confirm nor deny any information on a future wedding, the Monegasque press is echoing a possible meeting between the young South African swimmer and the Archbishop of Monaco, Bernard Barsi; a meeting that makes everybody suspect of an imminent announcement.

Besides, another fact is added to the previous note: there are people who assure that Charlene Wittstock, accompanied by an assistant of the Prince, went to a famous jewellery shop, to choose an engagement ring. These days seem to be decisive in the love story between the Prince and this athlete, a story that goes back to 2001, although the first images of them in affectionate attitudes date for just a few months ago, in February, during the Winter Games of Turin.

Only the time will say if Albert of Monaco will leave the title of "Golden Single" and will say the so waited "I do".

I disagree. How could he not be in love? I do agree that he doesn't seem too involved in the preparations, but maybe if he did, the paparrazzi would be all over them. She is so pretty, he is probably crazy about her. This beautiful young woman to become his wife. I just hope they are happy. It is too late for him to start looking for another one and he seems to have wanted to be with her since he saw her for the 1st time 6 years ago. Now he has her and is not letting go, no matter what anybody says.

Well, I woulld disagree simply because Albert was with another woman (NC) for supposed 5 of those 6 years, so he could not have wanted CW too much. And besides the palace has said there they are not getting engaged, there are no plans for a marriage between Albert and CW.

They were just going around together and and being 'cozy'.

Let me start by saying this is my personal opinion. I just want to go on record to say I am 100% convinced that the announcement just like all the other things we have doubted in the past concerning PA is coming soon. This time its for real and everybody can try to twist and console themselves about the stories not being true mostly because they do not like CW but fortunately that does not matter. He is going to marry her. The question which we may never have an answer is why? Why CW, why now. Or maybe PA is one of those people who think they cannot do any better than the people he seems to be attracted to. Personally I think its all going to be for the wrong reason from both ends. PA with all that is happening in his life this last year with baby mama dramas just wants the world to think he is not that messed up. As for CW, well common, she is getting a title not to mention a palace and money to accompany it. You cannot honestly tell me she would marry or even date him if it were not for all that. Lots of times these stories even tabloids just don't start based on nothing. A lot of times there is usually some truth to it. So get used to charlene, she is here to stay. Soon we will be talking about princess charlene of monaco and the heirs are not far either. But then again I just want him to marry and settle or should I say pretend to settle down because from everything in PA background, I do not think fidelity is a part of him. He is definately going to be messing around on the side. So after the marriage, be ready to start hearing of all the waitresses, and flight attendants or some employees from the palace coming forward or writing books that they had extra marital relations with him.

Does anyone know or have you heard how P. Caroline is about this? I neither like or dislike Charlene but I just dont see her as princess material. Grace was beautiful, well educated, and near Rainiers age. Albert start thinking with your head. Women in their 40s and 50s have children.

[..]She will have to compete with the perceptions people have of other recent princesses; that she is at least smart and savvy enough to master the language of the people she will reign over. I think while PA imo just wants a tall, blonde, trophy for a wife and princess of monaco, she at least has to appear intelligent and articulate. She will be compared to Caroline, Letizia, Mary and Maxima more than she will be compared to Grace or Diana.

I for one don't get the negativity re. Charlene as a choice for Albert. Can someone explain to me how she is a worse choice than, say, a divorced & pushy career woman with a preference for news cameras? Alternatively, what has she done in her past? She isn't exactly a former waitress-slash-party girl-slash-unmarried single mom, is she? Or, what about the resume of her parents? Is her father a former key member of a murderous military regime in a South American nation? Ah, that's right, wrong royal consort, my bad.

Come on, now. If her heart is as decent as her looks, there's hope. She could become, with lots of practice and stylists and tutors, a Monegasc Mathilde, a statuesque, ever-smiling blonde who doesn't typically disappoint us.

I also think that since she's not American and because of Albert's reputation as a playboy with illegitimate children, an engagement and marriage will initially make news in the U.S. but not in the long term.

You may well be right on that one. Which is why, as I've said all along, Albert should give Charleze Theron a call before it's too late. She's South African AND blond AND an oscar winning movie star!

I think we must accept the fact that Albert does not fit the classic profile
of "Prince Charming." It may actually do more harm than good to your reputation to marry this Prince. Charlene probably doesn't have much to lose in terms of reputation and family status (i.e., not from a Royal Family). However, she would have much to gain in terms of wealth and upward mobility by becoming a Grimaldi. Also, I really think she's someone Albert can relate to.

She's got what they call "swimmers back"-very broad and muscular. Be glad she didn't specialize in the butterfly stroke. Then she would have the camel humps on the tops of her shoulders. They are definately not attactive. I happen to think she looks very nice even with the broad back.
