A Retrospective: National Day - Monaco
Historical:
The Ceremonial goes back to the time of Charles III when Monaco was becoming a modern state. At this tome the National Day was on Noveber 4th, the day of Saint-Charles.
So with every ruling soverein the day changed to his respective day of Saint.
Since 1951 now the Monégasque National Day is celebrated on November 19th, the day of Saint Rainier d'Arrezzo.
Meaning:
Like in all the countries around the world the National Day is to honor and celebrate the national traditions and the identification.
Monacos monarchie is since 7 centuries the basis for pride, tradition and identification.
At this very day all Monégasques and inhabitions of Monaco gather around the Prince Souverein, Head of State, and his family.
Traditions and festivities:
National Tradition: Honoring of the Minister of State and his work; Parade of troops
Religious Tradition: 'Messe d'action ae de grâce' in the cathedral of Monaco to underline the identification with the Catholic Religion.
Celebrating Traditions: Soiree de Gala, Spectacles, Happenings for the countries children,fireworks
Social Traditions: Destrebution of presents to less priviliged people, people in hospital or ill in any other way and older people , by the members of the princely family

Monday, November 17th:
10h30 Destribution of presents by H.S.H Prince Albert and H.S.H Princess Stephanie at the Monégasque Red Cross.
15h30 Destribution of Medals for Physical education and Sports by H.S.H Prince Abert at the 'Minestère d'Etat'
Tuesday , November 18th:
09h45 Destribution of Medals of the 'Mérite National du sang' by H.S.H Prince Albert
10h30 Destribution of honoring Medals of the Monaco Red Cross by H.S.H. Prince Albert
11h30 Des. of the honoring Medals of the 'Mérite Culturele' by H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover
14h30 Des. of presents to older people by H.S.H. Prince Albert and H.S.H. Princess Stephanie in the 'Foyer Rainier III'
17h15 Des. of honoring Medals of the 'Ordre de Saint Charles' and ' Ordre Grimaldi' by H.S.H. Prince Rainier and H.S.H. Prince Albert
18h00 Reception at the 'Palais Princier' (after personal invitation)
21h00 Fireworks at the 'Port Hercule'
Wednesday, November 19th :
10h00 'Messe d'action de grace' in the catherdal with the princely family to be present
11h15 Des. of honoring Medals to the National Forces and Security Forces and the Palaces employees by H.S.H. Prince Rainier
11h30 Official appearence of the princely family on the indows of the 'Palais Princier' and Parade
12h00 Official lunch at the Palais Princier (after personal invitation)
20h30 Soiree de Gala at the Grimaldi forum (after personal invitation)
