I cannot think of the last time there was an official picture released of either Christina or Irene's families. Not even from Margarita and Edwin's wedding was there a family picture of Irene with her sons and daughters. (In hindsight that might've turned out to be a good thing but that's a digression.) And as discussed in another thread, I think the Apeldoorn branch of the royal family is much better at posing for and releasing official family portraits than the Queen and her family are. We get many more official portraits of Princess Margriet, Pieter van Vollenhoven and their entire clan than we do of Beatrix and her sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. There has never actually even been one picture of Beatrix with all her sons, daughter-in-laws since they've all been married, let alone one of Beatrix with her grandchildren. While Johan Friso still holds the title of Prince and is the Queen's son, we have to let go of whatever expectations we hold of royals and regular updates on their lives. What we can expect from Willem and Maxima about their family will not be the same amount of information we can expect about Johan and Mabel and their family, or even of Constantijn, Laurentien and their family. |

I don't think it's "rude" per se, I simply wish to see more of their little family. Royal house members or no, they're still very visible as the Queen's children (and grandaughter).
And as far as Princess Cristina goes, she lives in New York I believe, so it's easier to understand why we don't see much of her. I kind of wish we did though - we know so little about her and her children. It was nice to see Juliana at the wedding and I wish we'd see more members of the family more often. *sigh* :) |

Mabel looks very well, esp. in the 3rd picture, very flattering indeed.

i agree. she looked beautiful, although some colour would made her look nicer.
by the way, the jacket she is wearing is the one she used for the jubilee celebrations some months ago. it's a viktor & rolf, as well :) (wonder if she wears more designers?)

I thought she wore a lighter version of this jacket during the jubilee? A silver one, with black trousers...

She looks really nice. The jacket does look like a smaller and lighter version of the Jubilee jacket.
Good for her for promoting and wearing Dutch Designers. |

I think that she looks quite glamourous, especially in the third picture. Her hair style really suits her as well. And it seems she has finally lost the bows.

well, considering the bows were the theme of last years V&R line, we may now see 'I love you' written all over her wardrobe (this years theme)

Mabel looks great, Viktor & Rolf again of course. I wish Maxima took a hint from her this time.

From the benelux royals MB, posted by HJA (a dutch journalist):
-- ' Restaurant Panama saw a radiant princess Mabel on Wednesday afternoon, who spoke freely about her new life as wife and mother, and frankly about her work for OSI in the combat of aids, tb and malaria. Impressive, and open. She also admitted to have take an aids test in South Africa - not for herself, but to break the taboo in taking such tests in African countries. She was in RSA for ten days in February. ;;Enjoying my last weeks of freedom before Luana was born", as quoted in the GPD papers of Friday. Mabel will give a big speech on December 1, World Aids Day. Again from the Benelux royals MB, written/posted by Joris:
'A front page article of the Dutch free newspaper Metro (Amsterdam edition) says that Princess Mabel "was befriended" with former attorney Evert Hingst (36) who was assassinated in Amsterdam two days ago. The ex-attorney (ex because he was accused of white-washing illegal money) was known for defending underworld figures (some of whom have been murdered in the meantime.... Even after this recent murder yet another famous criminal Miremet was murdered in Thailand). Mabel Wisse Smit, according to several sources of journalists Vincent Andriessen and Anne-Fleur Pel, is said to know Evert Hingst within the context of field-hockey in the affluent 't Gooi region (SE of Amsterdam). Evert Hingst for some reason changed his name (former name Evert Constantijn Drijber). Hingst/Drijber played field hockey for the Laren field-hockey club and the Gooische ditto (Mabel's stepfather was involved in the Hilversumsche Field-hockey club, as a consequence of which Mabel (whose sister plays hockey too) knew many hockey players. The tendency of the article seems sensation-aimed again, imo, for how good you 'know' people. Although Metro usually is a neutral newspaper. The hockey context seems quite 'general' to me. She might have had a drink with him once in a while (that is if it would be before he became 'an advocate of the criminal devils'. But more attorneys seem to be inspired to defend criminals: it's their very challenge...). NOS News showed a photo of Hingst yesterday and again it concerns an attractive man... Princess Mabel was not approachable for comment yesterday evening... '

Prince Friso denied in a newspaper interview that his wife knew the assasinated laywer of the underworld, mr. Hingst. According to the prince is was his wife's sister who played fieldhockey with him.

I was just reading Mabel's official profile, what does it mean she is not a member of the royal family? She is married to a prince.

On a separate note... Why is it that seemingly everytime there is a dead mob boss, crooked attorney, or just a criminal, the press says that Mabel knows, knew, had her hair done by them, or just brushed up against them? The impression you'd get is that she's some sort of mafia princess or something!
