Princesses Mako, Kako and Prince Hisahito Current Events Part 2: May 2017 -

You're welcome! We'll be seeing Princess Mako quite a bit before her marriage. There's a bunch of pre-wedding rites and visits to shrines and ancestors, Emperor Akihito's birthday, New Year's greeting & reception, etc. Hopefully there'll be a state visit before next fall.

Princess Mako opened the "International Ceramics Festival Mino '17" on the morning of the 15th in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture. She is honorary president of the festival and said "I hope that this festival will play an important role in the creation of new ceramics industry and culture, [and] international exchange through ceramics will spread."

She is such a beautiful young lady, always seems so serene and graceful and full of dignity. I have always liked this young lady for being such an example for other young ladies in this day and age.

In the picture it looks like the students are playing recorders--in the US, the early elementary students learn to read music by learning to play flutophones (a simple type of recorder.)

Prince Akishino plans to visit Hawaii, daughter Mako to make trip to Brazil - The Mainichi
Quote:
Japan's Prince Akishino and his wife Princess Kiko are planning to visit Hawaii in early June, while their eldest daughter Princess Mako will likely travel to Brazil in July, an official of the Imperial Household Agency said Monday.

The agency is currently making arrangements for the couple's weeklong trip to Hawaii and their daughter's likely last trip overseas before she leaves the imperial family upon her planned marriage to a commoner in the fall. Both trips will mark anniversary years of the arrivals by first Japanese immigrants, the official said.

[...]

Princess Mako is also scheduled to join a ceremony commemorating the 110th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil.
