I doubt it. Succession isn't going to change at this point. Prince Hisahito will be the future emperor. His meetings with the Imperial couple reminds me of Prince William's meetings with Queen Elizabeth II when William was at Eton. If CP Naruhito decides to share his instruction with Aiko, then that's their business.

I hope the government will eventually allow women to stay in the Imperial Family and start their own branches. There are various reports about how a shrinking Imperial House can handle the many duties in the future. However, change is slow.

On September 6th, Princess Mako departed for Paraguay on a civil aircraft. The 80th anniversary of Japanese immigration ceremony is on the 9th. She'll also visit Iguazu Falls in Argentina.

Probably not.
It is well-known that Hisahito was born to provide a male heir for the succession. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

However, I think Aiko is better off if she is not in the succession. She will have a better degree of personal freedom, like her female cousins, while Hisahito will be hemmed in by the constraints of imperial tradition.

The princess will be in Paraguay until Tuesday 13 September. Mako, by protocol, does not give statements to the press, and in some cases, photographs are restricted.

In a ceremony at the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, Her Imperial Highness was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Oscar Cabello national Sarubbi. They exchanged a few words in English, and then, Princess of Japan was greeted by members of the Nikkei Community. Spain's ambassador in Tokyo, Naoyuki Toyotoshi, born in Japan and naturalized Paraguayan, also gave his greetings to Her Imperial Highness.

Deputy foreign minister said that "no country has been visited by the Japanese imperial family as Paraguay", which confirms the close relationship between Paraguay and Japan. He said that not just a political, economic rapprochement and cooperation, but rather of an emotional relationship.
[...]
Asked if the Japanese Princess brings a message of his grandfather, Emperor Akihito, Cabello said "brings a message of friendship and recognition". "The Paraguay at a difficult time for Japan, at the end of World War II, was one of the first countries to Japanese immigration; we have it welcomed with open arms, "he said.

I am very grateful to receive the key to the city, which is a symbol of friendship of the city of Asuncion and Asunceno people, "said the princess. At another point she said she was happy to visit Asunción and [hopes] even more lapacho flowers continue to adorn the capital. You're welcome! Ok, hopefully these dates are correct...

On September 10th, Princess Mako visited the first Japanese settlement founded in 1936 by Dr. Kunito Miyasaka. She visited the Paraguayan Japanese center, memorial of the 80th anniversary, and a Japanese garden. The princess also met with Japanese immigrants and gave a speech of thanks to the thriving community. "It currently has about 6,000 inhabitants, mostly engaged in fruit and vegetable production, without neglecting traditional products."

On September 11th, Princess Mako visited a Japanese settlement Federico Chaves and in La Paz, Itapúa. She watched a traditional craft show, visited Japanese Association of Incarnation, met with immigrants and children, and admired local production.

A few of the first groups of immigrants attended the event. "For us, receiving a granddaughter of Emperor Akihito and greeting her is a great honor," said Shizuo Matumiya, 86, the longest of Japanese immigrants who arrived in Itapúa." Originally from Iwata, he arrived in 1955 with his family in the fourth group and only knew that Paraguay was "very large and had no sea".

Another immigrant, Ujie Naruko arrived when he was 13 years old in the first group in 1953 with his siblings. Princess Mako thanked the Paraguayan community for welcoming her compatriots and allowing them to integrate into the country's economic and social life.

On September 12th, Princess Mako "broke protocol" at her visit to the Jesuit Mission of Trinidad. She was extremely surprised and moved by the artistic presentation of Coro Mbya, that she decided to take extra time to shake hands with the Guaraní performers.
Quote:
"The Princess expressed her happiness for having had the opportunity to hear the singing of the choir Mbya. We gave her our gratitude for her visit is very important," said the group's leader, Luis Cabral, who used the Guaraní [language] to express their excitement for Mako's visit, when she finished her tour of the Jesuit Mission.

The Guaraní Jesuit Mission of the Holy Trinity of Paraná was founded in 1706. It is considered the largest and best architectural work built by the Jesuits in Guarani territory. Its buildings include homes Guaraní Indians bordering a central square, arches Roman style, the pulpit, the friezes of angels musicians, the bell tower and the courtyard of the cloister.

On September 13th, Princess Mako traveled to another city founded by the Japanese, Yguazú and visited La Amistad, the museum Takumi, Agricultural cooperative Yguazú, and the Japanese Association. She shared lunch with Japanese immigrants and descendants, received a gift of bull wood, observed a Sakura tree planted by her grandfather then-Crown Prince in 1978, and toured the Yguazú Cooperative.

Princess Mako's 7-day official visit concluded in the afternoon with a visit to the hydroelectric Itaipu Binacional plant, where she was accompanied by the company's CEO James Spalding, and Paraguayan and technical director, Jose Sanchez. She "wore a beautiful white dress with delicate lace ñandutí. The press officers of the delegation confirmed that it was the traditional Guarani embroidery, but could not determine whether the garment was a present or whether she acquired it."
