Japan's Prince Akishino and his wife Princess Kiko arrive by car at Imperial Palace in Tokyo to meet Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006. The Imperial Household Agency announced on Tuesday that Princess Kiko, wife of the second man in line to the throne, Prince Akishino, was in the early stages of pregnancy, delivering a possible solution to the royal family's much-bemoaned lack of male heirs.
Prince and Princess Akishino had dinner with them. Princess Kiko reported her pregnancy in person to the Imperial couple at the Imperial Residence. Orchid flowers called ''Princess Kiko,'' named after the wife of Emperor Akihito's second son Prince Akishino, bloom for the first time at an orchid hall in Nagoya immediately after the princess' pregnancy was revealed on Feb. 7. The orchids are in one of the two pots in which the prince planted orchids in May 2004 in commemoration of the couple's marriage.

I wondered, is there any information about Princess Kiko available online? What causes does she support for example? From what kind of family is she? Is she, like Masako, prohibited to see her own parents on a regular basis as well? Is it known if she had any problems adjusting to life inside the palace?
She seems to be a charming lady btw, and always looks perfect, no hair out of order ![]()
