Prince Philippe attended an other event, and princess Mathilde was with the children at school, they were performing at a school spectacle.

It say that Queen Fabiola was unable to attend too, and she felt unwell. The article says that Mathilde did not attend as her children had a celebration at school. Nice to see that Laurent was there too with his family. The princess looks great for her age btw and seems to be one of the most sympathetic people of the family!
Was the lunch after the official photo shoot? I guess a few of her Habsburg and Luxembourg/Liechtenstein relatives may have been there too. A pity that Archduchess Margherita wasn't included in the pictures as she usually is.

She looks great for her age! Nice to see that most of the family was there, pity the rest couldn't make it.
Any idea why this was celebrated before her actual birthday date?

I think they did a pre-celebration to allow her working children to be there.
She is wonderful and what a smile !
Queen Paola was not in her good days.
