* She visited a hospital in Tanzania, where she distribute Olyset net, a long lasting insecticidal nets for the school

Princess Astrid of Belgium (R) poses with a worker of the A2Z mosquito net factory in Arusha, 03 October 2007. The factory is the largest mosquito net maker and distributor in Africa. The nets are an essential preventive measure against the transmision of Malaria. Malaria, according to the UN kills approximately 3,000 children a day worldwide and remains the single largest cause of death for children under five in sub-Saharan Africa.

Default Princess Astrid's Official Visit to Zambia for 'Roll back Malaria'; 25 April 2008

Princess Astrid will be in Zambia on April 25th to attend the first worldday of the fight against Malaria, which will be held in Livingstone. The Princess will also meet medical teams.

Belgium's Princess Astrid boards a dingy on the Roll Back Malaria Zambezi Expedition in the Katombore village about 60 km (37 miles) from Livingstone April 23, 2008. Zambia will host the World Malaria Day in the presence of Belgium's Princess Astrid, Goodwill Ambassador of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership on April 25. The medical teams of the expedition will travel more than 2,500 km (1553 miles) in inflatable boats through Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe to deliver mosquito nets and medications to remote areas.

Princess Astrid declared during her trip to Zambia that her childern later will have to go to work to earn a living.
