Lovely to see almost the entire family together.
Especially Amedeo and Maria Laura, long time no see.

Exactly: almost the entire family. Does anybody know why Princess Luisa Maria was missing? She is currently attending the Sevenoaks boarding school in Great Britain but didn't their summer holidays already begin? And what about Prince Joachim's (maternal as well as paternal) grandparents? Maybe they were present at a private celebration afterwards...

I heard that princess Luisa-Maria participates every year to a camp with a youth movement in July, that is why she is absent. But no official source confirmed this information, at least not to my knowledge.

I noticed that Prince Joachim has "van Belgie" on his nameplate on his jacket but "de Belgique" on his mess (?) uniform. Is it usual for names to be in both Flemish and French? I thought Amedeo and his siblings only went by de Belgique...

You're question is from very long ago, I'd just noticed now. Better late than never. My view is: the use both. Sometimes also von Belgien. German is our 3th official language. Amedeo was in Sevenoaks with the name: Van Belgie... So I think they try to use them both as much as possible.

On March 5, 2012 Prince Joachim was commissioned as an officer of the Belgian Navy. Queen Paola, Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz attended Joachim's swearing ceremony in Zeebrugge:

Thank you for the information. :flowers:
Congratulations to Prince Joachim on this achievement; I am glad he continued the proud tradition of serving in the Navy or the Army.
On a different note, the Prince looks very handsome in that uniform. And you can see just how proud the Queen and Princess Astrid are. :)

Great pictures and video! :flowers:
You could see how cold those poor officers were; they were all shivering! In this picture it almost looks like the Prince is waving to someone, until you watch the video and see that it was actually his (second) unsuccessful attempt to catch the flag. :D

:previous:Thanks for the photos and video.
Brave men in that rain!
The prince looks very handsome. I love the picture where he catch the flag and the one of the Queen looking to her daughter, smiling :flowers: Beautiful moments...

Poor prince, in the rain. And he had to speak in German, French and Dutch, the other militaries only in their birth language... Really great pictures! I'm happy to see they are a happy family together :)

Thanks for the pictures.Joachim is very handsome. He looks like both of his parents!

Is Luisa Maria still in high school or is she already in college?

I think that she takes her high school diploma this year... And that she( should enter to the university for the academic year 2013/2014...

Let me get this straight...
Amedeo studies at
LSE: Business Management [as a single stand alone subject, or a major [subject] under Banking and Finance]. He chose LSE over a Belgian university because...?...any ideas.
Maria Laura studies at
LSE: Hotel Management/Hospitality and Sinology [Chinese Studies]. A more flexible course. She/Astrid/Lorenz chose LSE over the only 2 Belgian universities offering the course because...

PS: Thanks guys for the new info :flowers:.

I heard she studies at a Chinese language school in Beijing

Maria Laura was also there

Wow!!! I'm so happy that to see Prince Amedeo and Princess Maria Laura,
Prince Joachim.:ROFLMAO:

I don't mean to sound harsh, but Maria Laura should start asking aunt Mathilde for some fashion tips, not her mother....and brushing the hair, for a change?

Yes something is a bit matronly in her look at the wedding Marchesina I agree not the best choice here for a young tall woman IMO

Any news about Joachim? Has he graduated already from Bocconi University?
I'm terribly sad there aren't any latest photos since Queen Fabiola's funeral, most especially news...
Are there also any interviews of him which I missed? Or is it that I haven't missed something because he never got interviewed?

Are there any more recent news about the 3 sisters, too? May some in Belgium tell us? Thanks a lot in advance ^^

I agree blond and dark hair... A gathering of a happy family !

Princess Laeticia Maria (12) will go to school in England according to het Nieuwsblad,. They claim to have the information from a 'reliable source'.

There was no space anymore at the Sint-Jan Berchmans college in Brussels. So this is they way they solved it, claims the newspaper. Apparently they were late with calling the school to enroll her: the school already accepted the maximum amount of students.

Geen plaats in Sint-Jan Berchmans? Dat lost Laetitia Mari... - Het Nieuwsblad

I suppose there must be more schools in Brussels so the explanation seems a bit odd to me; as is sending a 12 y/o to another country. Perhaps they made a mistake in the article and the princess will be joining the British school in Brussels.

Didn't most of her siblings go to foreign schools after a certain age? That theory holds up more than the "there's no place for her at the SJB school", we all know that one phone call from the palace would have solved the issue if that was the case

I think it's gonna be weird for her not to share classes with Gabriel any longer

The article mentions that Amedeo was 16 when he left to Sevenoaks in England.

That report sounds rather strange. How can experienced parents of five be late to enroll their youngest in secondary school? Imo 12 is very young to go to boarding school abroad. But then every child is different, Laetitia Maria might have been very keen on going. After seeing her siblings going to school abroad, she might think that boarding school must be a great adventure. (That's what I thought at twelve, and after reading all those Enid Blyton stories. :D)

Let's see if that report will be confirmed.

It was e.a; because she has a double name Laetitia Maria which was refused in their computer....
St Jean Berckmans is the best dutch School in Brussels. There is a waiting list because it is the best way for french speaking Children to know Dutch.

The School did no difference between a Princess and a commun Girl. A première in Belgium...
