Princess Astrid and Princess Anne attended the celebrations marking the centenary of the death of Edith Cavell in Uccle, Brussels today, October 12.

"The British nurse Edith Cavell was killed hundred years ago by German during WWI. Edith Cavell is celebrated for saving the lives of soldiers from both sides without discrimination and in helping some 200 Allied soldiers escaped from German-occupied Belgium during the First World War, for which she was arrested. She was subsequently court-martialled, found guilty of treason and sentenced to death. Despite international pressure for mercy, she was shot by a German firing squad. Her execution received worldwide condemnation and extensive press coverage"

When he travelled with Amedeo , he told his father that he was in love with Lilli.

Yesterday, May 4, Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz were present at the opening ceremony of the 34th Special Olympics National Games in La Louviere. The games take place from May 4th until May 7th.

On friday the princess and her husband became the victim of a car robbery. This happened near on the highway north of Paris, when the princess, her hsuband and one of their daughters were stuck in their Mercedes Benz car due to atraffic jam.

Robbers broke the window of the car and snatched the handbag of the princess, containing 2000 euros and the identity papers of the princess.

I wonder which car plate they had ?
It is the second time that Robbers took Princess Astrid's handbag.

The fist time , people found the handbag , called the Palace and the Princess went to their home with flowers.

These persons are fragile because they are used to be protected by bodyguards and they don' t hink to hide their bag under the seat as I do it regularly.
To be victime of these actions are always a big shock

The 2000 Euros were "just" the cash she had in her handbag. Either the robber has chosen very well his victim, or he has been very lucky.
At least - and luckily - nobody has been hurt.

It will be Princess Astrid's first absence from the National Day parade, which has fueled continuous rumors that she is dissatisfied with King Philippe for reducing her tasks. She and Prince Lorenz will however attend the National Day concert and Te Deum.

Prince Lorenz, Princess Claire, King Albert and Queen Paola will also miss the parade, though the palace says "everyone is invited".

Princess Astrid represented King Philippe at a commemoration in Italy marking the 60th anniversary of the Belgian mine disaster in Marcinelle that left 262 miners dead. With 22 victims the Abruzzo region was the most heavily bereaved. Princess Astrid also inaugurated the 1956-2016 Marcinelle exhibition and attended a commemoration concert.
