Good to know that she is adding things up but it would also be nice of she is slightly more active.

On September 29th, HGD Stéphanie attended a public lecture by Asker Pelgrom at the National Museum of History and Art (MNHA). As patron of “Les Amis des musées d’art et d’histoire Luxembourg”, she is supporting MNHA’s efforts to acquire B.C. Koekkoek’s “View of Larochette Castle”. Asker Pelgrom is a 19th century art specialist and the lecture made the case for the purchase.

The painting is part of 9 Luxembourg landscapes commissioned by King Willem II of the Netherlands (and Grand Duke of Luxembourg) in 1845. The MNHA launched a crowdfunding campaign in May with the goal of collecting 100,000 euros. The campaign ends November 1st and has raised 75,000 euros so far.

The MNHA campaign succeeded. 282 generous donors contributed 102,928 euros, exceeding the 100,000 euro goal, to acquire the painting.

I believe what she needs is a higher profile role perhaps with the UN (ala Queens Maxima and Letizia), WHO (CP Mary), or even UNICEF. I believe such a global exposure would be very good for her.

Since she's the only member of the Grand Ducal family that can converse with the Russians in their own language the HGD was the perfect person for this event.

Go Stephanie!:)

HGD Stéphanie is patron of the 4th Transatlantic Dialogue "Creating Human Bonds through Cultural Diplomacy" conference hosted by the University of Luxembourg from May 24-27th.

Transatlantic Dialogue 2017
[…]

The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin (ICD) promotes five principles:
  • Respect and Recognition of Cultural Diversity and Heritage
  • Global Intercultural Dialogue
  • Justice, Equality, and Interdependence
  • The Protection of International Human Rights
  • Global Peace and Stability
The 4th Transatlantic Dialogue provides a dynamic environment in which to pursue these aims with particular focus on the first two which lay a foundation for achieving the last three principles. Explorers, travelers, teachers and artists are all examples of “informal ambassadors” or “cultural diplomats”. All those who interact with different cultures facilitate a form of cultural exchange.

More than ever before, cultural diplomacy has a vital role to play in international relations, enabling us to appreciate and promote points of inter-sectionalism and common bonds. Bridging differences begins with approaching others with the will to acknowledge and understand their and our own cultural identities and ‘othernesses’. Universities have a key role to play in this regard and presenters will offer multiple perspectives on how this can be achieved.

Okay, waay belated, but: Slightly more active?
I sincerely wonder why she still does most things together with her husband, and so little by herself. She's been married since October 19, 2012, that's FIVE years.

And it's not like I'm complaining about a lack of pregnancy, but I do truly think she could venture out on her own a lot more. She said herself she now totally feels at home in Luxembourg, but why doesn't that translate to more solo visibility?
I assume she doesn't need her husband for every engagement that she must do? I think that they like being together and working together, and with that in itself is nothing wrong, but IMO in her case the balance is really very off. And in her position it's fair to expect more than what she's given so far. She is the second woman in the land, not somewhere down the line.
It's something that irks me about her.

Since brain haemhorrage/stroke is the calamity that claimed the HGD's mother, I am so happy to see her attend this event and to learn that she is patroness of Bletz.

Good job Stephanie!?
