You make a valid point. I certainly wouldn't want to be strung along, not knowing the future of our relationship. But I would suspect that there have been talks already on both of their parts regarding their future. And with his furthering expansion of his gyms, perhaps a marriage is not YET in the cards. As much as I love a proper scandinavian royal wedding with all the glitz, glam and piles and piles of dazzling jewels, I just want her to be happy and if she feels that she isn't ready yet to commit to Daniel (or he to her), then no rush indeed.

Perhaps they have made a commitment to each other and have a timeline for announcement of engagement and wedding. The fact that we don't know the details does not mean the relationship is anything but serious.

I don't know all that much about him except that he seems to be the one for her and if he is they should marry soon because I agree staying in limbo for years serves none of them.My question would be would Victoria's brother and sister be inclined to wait for her to marry first out of deference to her or is there no such pressure on them?

Marriage
I hope that they get married they have been together for about what three years or more since 2005 right? It is about time that someone gets married from the House of Bernadotte even though nothing has been announced, If they do get married I will be happy for them. I think that they might get married in 2008 I read on Hola.com that the royal family are supposed to have a budget increase so they could be getting married. Does anyone know if what Princess Victoria's brother Prince Carl Philip said is true or not he said that he will only get married after his sister Victoria gets married?

That would be great and almost the last chance for a 2008 wedding, keeping in mind the organisation of such an event.
Either there is an engagement soon or we'll need a new thread: Will CP Victoria & Daniel Westling marry in 2 0 0 9 !?!?!

I am fearing, you could be right. Leute Heute had the Swedish interview from Aktuellt on SVT (=state TV, which would probably also broadcast all 3 Royal weddings)
There she talked about her studies and that she has still something in the back pocket for 2008 and she winked with one eye. The channel and newspapers read this as hint for a wedding in 2008.
But the court was less than happy about SVTs aftertalk (which was nearly only about a possible wedding) and tried to clarify, that her comment and winking was about her studies/duties ( which is IMO very weird of her...her studies aren´t usually so exciting for the ppl, that they are worth a surprise...and why couldn´t she tell things directly)
Comments from Nina Eldh, main press spokeswoman at the court:
Quote:
- We were surprised. It was a very strange turn on the interview.
- We have for a longer period of time gotten inquiries about an interview with the Crown Princess. In the end we gave the green light for Aktuellt to meet the Crown Princess in Brussels during the summit.
- It has been the big topic of conversation at the palace. It's remarkable how they have administered the trust they got from the Crown Princess.
- They turn that to a wedding. The Crown Princess meant studies. I'm very surprised.
- The twist they have made obscures the nice interview that it was really about.

I guess a lot around such an event is firstly planned "secretly". So if there would be a wedding soon, one would think, that they had a talk with SVT already or at least wouldn´t attack them for their "wedding talk"
So once again a wedding in summer seems questionable...and IMO Victoria hadn´t looked her very happiest in the past weeks...

They appear to be totally committed to each other. They will marry when the two of them find the time is right. They are two hardworking and very capable persons and most likely have the perfect timeline all worked out. Being in training to be reigning queen does not fit into a "normal" scenario. When they do marry Victoria will now be able to spend more time with their children and being a mom than she would have been able to do a few years ago. I admire their resolve in doing things their way and not give in to when other people may think they should get married.

I believe he will pop the question in 2008 and that will lead up to a beautiful 2009 wedding.

If I keep saying yes, I'm bound to right one day. Or should I say year?

I think 12:th march is the last date we can expect an engagement here in sweden. It is the day both the current royal couple and the kings great grandfather and great grandmother Gustaf V and Queen Victoria announced their engagement plus it is Victorias name day.
If a wedding will occur in 2009 I think the question will come in 2009.
It is the tradition in the swedish royal family that it is around 3-6 months between the announcment and the wedding.

We have an incoming state visit next week so FORGET AN ENGAGEMENT 12:TH MARCH.
If they not surprise us all really much and have a winter wedding (would be really nice in a snow glittering old town in stockholm where the cathedral is) I think we need to start the "Will Victoria and Daniel W marry in 2009-thread".
If they break up this year I really hope Victoria already have find a new partner. Otherwise it could be a difficult situation for her.
