According to Twitter, Daniel and Estelle were on Saturday shopping at supermarket ICA Roslagstull, which is about 4 kilometers from the Haga Palace.

I think it's great that
a) they take Estelle with them on both formal and informal occasions. She's no stranger to a supermarket or taking the subway, just like other kids.
b) they can do this without people taking photos of them

8 Things Prince Daniel has said which show why we love him.
1. Because of his words after the little prince came to the world: "You women are a primal force"
2. For his amazing wedding speech: "This young man was perhaps not a frog in the beginning of the fairytale ..., but he was certainly not a prince".
3. For his emotional storm at Estelle's birth. "My feelings are all over the place"
4. For his views on fatherhood: "I see it as a matter of course to be home as a dad"
5. For his humility: "I want to earn this trust and work hard"
6. For his thoughts on child and adolescent health: "What would happen if we would test to have sports at the school every day?"
7. Because he is a romantic: "The greatest of all is love"
8. For his sensible approach to Estelle's use of computers: "You have to have some limits, we know that one must exercise a little to feel good".

Gossip site Hänt's Häntbloggen has a photo of Daniel and Estelle on Thursday afternoon having a pizza at Pizzeria Ciao Ciao Grande in Östermalm. Everything looked very relaxed out and it looked like Estelle had a friend with her. Perhaps from her preschool in Djursholm.
Ciao Ciao Grande is a pizzeria in a chain of restaurants located in various locations in Stockholm. They have some fancy pizzas, they are a bit more expensive but with good ingredients and in some places they have real wood burning stove. But not on this one. It is located on Artillerigatan, just next door to the grand Hedvig Eleonora Church at Östermalmstorg and one block from the Royal Mews where Madeleine and Chris live when they are in Stockholm.

Good to see Daniel spending some quality time with Estelle now when they have a new baby in the family.

I am happy Daniel is making sure to give Estelle some quality time with Daddy now that her mom is a bit busy with the new baby:flowers: Grocery shopping was even a good idea. But taking her and a little friend out for a pizza date :)

A column published on 3rd March at many finnish newspapers by Minna Kurki, a foreign news journalist in Lännen Media.

Column: Victoria and Daniel are the best thing that has happened to equality
Kurki writes that when people talked about Victoria's and Daniel's baby, she as a devoted republican did her best to stomp the news to the ground. So what if somewhere outside the borders of Finland gave birth to someone? She used all the standard arguments generally used against the monarchy: the fundamental injustice of inheritance, taxpayers' money, superficial babble....
A fellow pointed out that there are also happy news that unite people. Facebook was with boiling name speculations. Links were distributed, good luck was wished and stories were written. Kurki was retching inside her head. But Kurki was stopped by a phrase from a colleague on Facebook: "Victoria and Daniel are my ideal couple of equality", a colleague started the debate on gender equality and explained: "Victoria takes care of the hard work, childbearing, and is responsible for the crown in the future. Daniel informs about the baby, when the wife takes care of the baby and family for a moment. All active, independent operators who help each other."
Kurki admits that her colleague is right. Victoria and Daniel are the best thing that has happened to equality in recent years.
Of course Victoria and Daniel don't struggle with everyday problems that ordinary people face in ordinary work, family or social life. They are a well-balanced duo, which shares the work so that it in each case makes sense. They're flexible. They support each other. They have a common project.
At an early stage they were in the old fashioned way of speaking an odd duo: royal and a "ordinary" human being, fitness entrepreneur. When the relationship progressed, Daniel had to give up (or wanted to give up) of his gym career because of his royal career - and Victoria's career. Kurki says that she doesn't know what Daniel thinks, but at the photos he looks quite pleased.
Kurki writes that in general, stereotypes about equality in a partnership are changing. The man speaks, kisses, does the laundry and plays with the children, as women do. At many finnish homes the men cook nowadays, not the women. And men are on a paternity leave when their wives go back to work.
The essential thing of Victoria's and Daniel's doctrine is probably this: things may and can be decided how they want to, regardless of gender. Anyone can be what one wants, as long as both parties are satisfied. Things can be agreed according to the situation. Both can also receive it all: career, family and even free time. Kurki hopes that the same way of thinking would come to Finland, to it's society, employment and legislation. Learn from the monarchy, Finland.

I think this is a great article, which summarized in a very good way what this couple represent, at least on public diplay. Daniel seems very at ease in his role of prince consort, and that it is not a something obvious or granted, since he is the first one of the european countries to cover such a position. It is true that times are changing, but it still is not easy to find a man willing to be in the shadow on his spouse. Daniel himself told that he has "self-esteem enough to walk behing my wife", so I think this couple is very much a balance done and you could tell by their functional plublic roles that they live in a harmoniously equality within their daily routine.:flowers:

Daniel is the patron of MOD - Mer Organdonation (More Organ donation) since 2014.
Martha Ehlin, 38, the co-founder of MOD died last Saturday.
Martha was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and after several transplant operations with five new organs she defeated cancer. She won five gold medals at The World Transplant Games, a world championship for the transplant athletes, in Gothenburg in 2011.
Martha founded the organization MOD along with Peter Carstedt. MOD's ambition is to start a movement around organ donation issue in Sweden by increasing knowledge and understanding about organ donation so that more people in Sweden say yes to donating.
Daniel delivered the award "Årets Kämpe" (The Fighter of the Year) to Martha at Svenska Hjältar (Swedish Heroes) -gala in December 2013.

Prins Daniel i möte med MOD - Sveriges Kungahus

In November 2014 Martha and MOD and Daniel were both very involved in TV4's campaign for more organdonations. Martha did a great job to get people donate more organs. She was interviewed in radio, TV, newspapers and magazines and held lectures all over Sweden.

But in the end the transplants did not help. The disease came back.
MOD - Mer organdonation at their website:
"Martha died, calmly and quietly in the circle of her relatives on Saturday 19 March. Martha was transplanted 7 years ago because of a tumor disease. A disease that now came back and demanded a new operation. The operation failed to save her life. Our thoughts go first and foremost to the family while we try to understand what is incomprehensible and accept what is unacceptable. It is inconceivable to us that Martha is no longer with us."

As a Kidney Transplant Recipient, I am so very sad to hear we lost someone who was such an advocate and Champion for Organ Donation Awareness in Sweden. May her Legacy live on and grow. My Condolences to her Friends and Family. :(

One small thing Lady Finn...The World Transplant Games is closer to the Olympic Games for Transplant Recipients, than World Championships. Many Countries have their own Transplant Sports Organizations and hold National Championships in many Sports. Also many Sports now have Transplant World Championships. Events which are also qualifiers for the World Games during the year before they're held/that year they're held. Just like now, when many major events across the board both National and International, will be Qualifying Events for Rio later this year.

Just wanted to mention that. :)

During the years Victoria has been the inspiration for many artists and painters. A lot of paintings and art have been made of her. Here is some of them, as far as I know, not any of them have been commissioned.

I love these last two.

I love these last two.
So do I.

The whimsical notion of the first with Estelle running and Victoria with and easel painting a Daniel as a frog made me smile.

The caricature of Daniel proposing to Victoria just plain cracked me up. It really caught the essence of the moment (not to mention a fond remembrance of Daniel's hair pre-prince school. :D)

Someone has seen Daniel and Estelle at Kungsberget on Monday (no photos):
"That I was yesterday able to meet and talk with Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle at Kungsberget!"
https://twitter.com/c_eriksson3/status/714917405881925632

I guess she means the ski resort Kungsberget, less than 30 minutes from Ockelbo and a little over two hours from Stockholm.

Like father, like daughter!
Princess Estelle has started to play golf! And counts in English. Prince Oscar has already been traveling. This weekend Sweden's youngest prince was exactly one month old and celebrated with the family by going to their summer paradise on Öland.
In Friday night Victoria and Estelle were seen shopping at the local ICA store in Borgholm. They bought carrots, and took the opportunity to practice counting in English with each carrot that they put to cart. Estelle is said to have managed it all with flying colors. She drilled notoriously earlier in English by one of her nannies, who is English speaking.

On Saturday it was time for Estelle's next recreational activity: Golf!
Just before lunch, the whole family came accompanied by three bodyguards to Ekerum Resort, which is one of Sweden's largest golf facilities.
Little prince Oscar was sleeping safely in his Brio pram. When Victoria, Daniel and Estelle ate lunch, a buffet with two main dishes, venison and cod, with accompanying sauce and potatoes, rested Oscar in the pram beside the table. When the other people would walk past the family table Victoria politely moved the pram with the little prince, says an informant.
After lunch it was time for Estelle to try out her golf skills. Together with her father, she went down to driving range at Ekerum to train tee off. And even short game!
While Daniel took the opportunity to practice his swing. After a while they took a little break, but then continued to hit balls. A player who saw Estelle says he is impressed by her skills.
Already on Sunday, Estelle and Daniel were back for a new round of training.
Margareta Thorgen didn't want to comment on the family's weekend on Öland.

Here is the celebrity Swedish people prefer to dine with!
Many Swedes dream about meeting a celebrity, and even better, to have dinner with a famous person. But the question is which celebrity the swedish people, both women and men, prefer? A new survey was conducted by YouGov on behalf of the foodstuff company Nestlé.

Crown princess Victoria is the first at the survey, 24 % of the votes.
Tina Nordström, celebrity chef and television personality, came second with 17 %. Hans Rosling, medical doctor, academic, statistician and public speaker came third with 15 %. Surprisingly footballer Zlatan came only fourth with 11 %. UN's Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson, actor Mikael Persbrandt, artist Björn Skifs och singer Lena Philipsson are on fifth place with 8 % each.

When the answers of men and women are separated, Victoria came second:
What famous woman swedish men want to have dinner with?
1. Tina Nordström 18 %
2. Crown Princess Victoria 15 %
3. Lena Philipsson 10 %
4. Noomi Rapace (actress) / Sara Larsson (singer) 8 % both
5. Carola Häggkvist (singer) 7 %

The swedish woman prefer to dine with professor Hans Rosling, he came first. Eurovision Song Contest winner Måns Zelmerlöw is second at the women's answers.

This person tells on Facebook that she ran into them at the supermarket and would have asked for a photo if they did not have a cold. Apparently the whole family was shopping together and Victoria carried Oscar on her chest.

How absolutely wonderful. I'm torn, much as I would have adored seeing a photo of the family out and about, it really tickles me pink that ordinary people respect their family private time and don't accost them or post photos.

There are both good and bad things I can say about my country. The fact that people in general allows the royal family to do everyday things without taking pictures of them - that's one of the really great things. And I'm quite sure that it has a lot to do with the fact that most people respect and admire Victoria and her family, even though they might not be royalists.

It would be great if Victoria and Daniel would publish a photo of Estelle playing golf, taken by Kate Gabor.
It is great that Victoria and Daniel can be in Öland (and elsewhere) in Sweden without that people take photos. Or maybe some have taken photos but not put them into internet.
I'm ok with photos taken from the royals on their private time by private people, if the royals have been asked and they pose at the photos and give permission to put the photos into internet. But I don't like about the photos which have been taken "secretly" of the royals on their private time and put into social media or sold to the magazines. That is why I don't post here some photos I have seen in the internet, taken of Estelle alone or with her parents, clearly secretly. And the paparazzis are their own thing.

Victoria is on magazine Mama's list of 33 most powerful mothers in Sweden. Mama has listed 33 most powerful mothers, in no particular order.

Heir to the Throne: HRH Crown Princess Victoria, 38
The most easily loved monarch ever has no formal political power - but what an influence! We all want to know what she does, says and wears. And just as interested (if not more), we are of Princess Estelle, 4 and newcomer Oscar.

Svensk Damtidning writes that 27th May, Oscar's christening day, is very special to his father, prince Daniel.
Daniel received his kidney transplant seven years ago, on 27th May.

The article has also links to two great videos:

Woah, I thought that Daniel had received his transplant sometimes around september and not in May. Well, I hope that's not the reason why they chose that date for the christening. It would be a bit odd to associate a delicate surgery with the christening of a baby, but again, maybe that' s just me.

It seems a bit odd to me too, but perhaps I can understand. Because of the transplant Daniel has been able to marry, and have these kids. Without his father's donation, he may never have had Oscar (or Estelle). Oscar has his grandfather's name but christening him on the day his grandpa sacrificed a kidney to Daniel, may be seen as a tribute to Olle.

Or maybe it was merely a coincidence. I could well understand as well, if they chose that date because they consider it special.
