The Crown Princess visits Ängelholm to take part in the work of Aktivitet Förebygger
On Friday the 16th of November, Crown Princess Victoria visits Ängelholm municipality. The reason for the visit is that the Crown Princess wants to know more about and take part in the activities of Aktivitet Förebygger.
The background to the visit is that Aktivitet Förebygger presented its work at the Pep Forum in Stockholm earlier this fall. Pep Forum is a part of Generation Pep where the Crown Princess couple is the initiator. Their presentation in the capital impressed so much that a visit was booked shortly thereafter.
Kronprinsessan besöker Ängelholm för att ta del av Aktivitet förebyggers arbete - Ängelholms kommun

Aktivitet Förebygger (AF) is a collaboration between the municipality, civil society and industry where the prevention work is being focused. AF covers all municipal schools and 25 municipalities in which pupils in grades 4 and 6 have compulsory association activites at school. Through AF, children get ...
Increased physical activity, which prevents various diseases and leads to increased performance in all subjects.
Joy and fellowship, which are important factors for good health.
Training in value-based issues, which increases understanding for other people and reduces bullying.
Better self-esteem and belonging, which reduces the risk of ending in some form of ill health later in life.
Increased interest in an activity, which makes the children start with activities in their spare time.

ROYAL: Victoria besucht die Initiative "Aktivitet förebygger" in der Ängelholm
Crown Princess Victoria was visiting Skåne during Friday. During the morning she and Prince Daniel were at Höganäs AB. Then Daniel went home to Stockholm and left Victoria alone to meet a bunch of twelve-year-old karate-kids in Ängelholm.
- The royal house rang three weeks ago and asked if they could come. It was amazing fun and tumultuous, says Maja Arvidsson.
The project fits perfectly with Victoria and Daniel's own organization Generation Pep, which works to spread knowledge and create commitment to the health of children and young people.
The visit to AF was thus planned for three weeks. But Victoria was somewhat surprised when she suddenly received the call to join Karate.
- At first she said that she felt more comfortable in her jacket. But then I think she felt a little inspired, says Maja Arvidsson.
- And she was super good. The students were incredibly grateful and happy that she wanted to attend.
Victoria switched between several different training partners and received just over a quarter a quite demanding workout. It's sweaty standing on one knee and kick the other leg out straight.
She did not put on her coat again afterwards. Instead, Victoria went out to the car with her coat over her arm despite the Skåne autumn cold.
- But she looked very satiesfied and happy. I actually think she had had a lot of fun, says Stefan Lindblom, Kvällsposten's photographer.
- And the photos became good.

Daniel and Victoria with a teacher
Wow, what an experience!
Today was the day D, one day when I visited Stockholm Palace & where I met with Their Royal Highnesses, Crown Princess Victoria & Prince Daniel.
I was invited to attend the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation & Today's seminar in the Bernadotte Library at the Palace!
The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation supports people who work to "Create motivation for children & young people" & want to lift this in their way through financial support.
As the top of the whole, I was placed to sit next to Prince Daniel & God how awesome it was when he praised me, saying that what I did was really important & so good for the kids & for our school.
So nice & so down to earth person, Prince Daniel really made it so that it felt really relaxed & easy at the table.
It was also great when Crown Princess Victoria greeted me when there was mingling, and when I met Gustav Fridolin (following me on Instagram) & greeted him back to the teacher's profession.
I'm taken, moved & so proud of this opportunity & that I was invited with all the other nice, competent & awesome guests.
What a day, this is hard-smelt & I'm so grateful!

Victoria gave a welcoming speech. In her speech she said among other things:

It is now eight years since Prince Daniel and I started our foundation. We saw it as an opportunity to gather good powers for the purposes that are particularly close to our heart: to counteract exclusion and promote good health for children and young people in Sweden.
Over the years, the Foundation has supported a number of projects across the country.
Together we have had the privilege of visiting and visiting some of these different activities. It has been very fun, but also touching, to see what difference these initiatives can make in the lives of children and young people.
An insight that gradually evolved with us is how much the school means. How much starts there. And, at worst, how much can end there: the motivation, the dreams, the belief in their own ability and their own worth.
We know today that approved grades from elementary school are crucial for influencing their own future. We also know how hard teachers and other school staff work to support their students.
That is why we have invited you to this conversation. To discuss how we, together, from different sectors of society, can help more children to cope with school. So that every individual can be made justice. No matter what conditions you have.

Today, the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation organized the seminar: Create motivation for children and young people. Very important questions and inspirational speakers. Earlier today, the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation announced 14 projects that they support, of which En Frisk Generation is one. Which we are very happy and grateful for

Prince Daniel also talked about the importance of feeling pride - and he gave a really lovely example!
- It doesn't have to be such remarkable things, I remember when I was five or six years old, then there was always something to be proud of. Like when dad had a boa snake around the neck!
- It's important to give young people hope that there is a good future. But we must also back it up with good conditions. So thank you to everyone who engage yourself! We can talk and have great visions, but in the end it is implementing power that it's all about.

Press release from Generation Pep on 3rd December

All five-year-olds receive a free book on movement joy in 2019
In 2017, Generation Pep and Bonnier Carlsen, together with author Josefine Sundström and illustrator Emma Göthner, presented the children's book "SagaSagor: Fiffiga Kroppen og finurliga knappen", and now the book is made available to all five-year-olds throughout Sweden through the child welfare centers (BVC).
The aim of the book is to convey the importance of and desire to physical activity for the whole family. With support from the Gålö Foundation and the Jacob Wallenberg Foundation, approximately 120,000 books will be distributed free of charge on BVC's five-year old children's checks throughout the country during 2019.
The book is available in several languages to allow as many children as possible to read the book with their parents. Generation Pep has also produced an inspiration material for how BVC, the family and other adults can use the book.
- We at Generation Pep want to give all children the opportunity for an active and healthy life and we hope that the book now will inspire many five-year-olds and their families around the country to playful movement joy. I can see the effect the book had on my four-year-old daughter, who now spontaneously wants to move to wake up friends after sitting still for a long time, says Carolina Klüft at Generation Pep.
Today, four-year-olds still sit almost half of their awake time, and only every eight thirteen year old moves enough daily. In order to inspire the youngest for movement joy together with their parents, the book was created. The interest in the book has been great, both among young children and adults working with children. The book is full of facts and knowledge and has concrete movement tips full of play.
- All children have the right to exercise and good foundation for good health. I hope it will be as obvious as toothbrush and bedtime story in the evening. It feels good that our book Sagasagor may be with and pep children and their adults, says Josefine Sundström.

The royal court published yesterday at its Youtube a video of Crown Princess Couple's Foundation's seminar "Create motivation in children and young people", held on 27th November.
Victoria speaks in the beginning and Daniel in the end of the video.

Generation Pep's project manager Carolina Klüft (Olympic, World and European Champion) tells at an interview in Expressen, that she works at Generation Pep two days a week.
After the athletics career, Carolina Klüft has appeared in several major television contexts. She has, among other things, been the presenter of Viasat's broadcasts from the Olympic Games in Sochi and Rio, and also for SVT's "Duellen". This fall she has recorded both "Mästarnas Mästare" and "Wild kids".
- It has been, and is, very fun things to do, but I always consider carefully before I accept a television assignment. For example, am I prepared to get more attention? For me, it is not only positive with attention. It is associated with a certain resistance to become more public.
Why do you feel resistance?
- Because I'm private. I'm not always comfortable with being a public person. I do not say yes to everything, and I stay away in many contexts because I don't want to be seen. This with "Wild kids" for example, I think it's really fun to record it. At the same time, I know it will be an effect of that. All of a sudden, I will be recognized by more people, especially children, and I have not been that for many years. But the benefits are many more and children usually give me a lot of energy. When something feels challenged and fun, it feels like it's definitely worth it.
Carolina and her husband Patrik have two daughters Laleh, 4, and Amie, 14 months. The family has left Stockholm and live in Järvsö.
- We have had a house in Järvsö for a while and lived there alternately, but now we have moved there permanently and thrive very well, there is a simplicity in staying there.
Carolina och Patrik Klüft lämnar Stockholm för Järvsö

Carolina is a good worker for Generation Pep, because she is very popular, works hard and is passionate in what she is doing, and almost everyone in Sweden recognizes her and knows about her successes in athletics.

Daniel delivers Generation Pep's "Årets Peppare" -prize at the Sports Gala on 21st January. Among the finalists are Bäckahagens Skola, Special Olympics Sverige, Lekoteket, Gilla Vatten and Bara Vanlig Hälsa.

Carolina Klüft is one of Sweden's foremost athletes of all time and has worked as a project manager for Generation Pep since 2016. Klüft has a successful career in athletics behind her and has in recent years had several assignments as a host and lecturer alongside her work with Generation Pep. Carolina will now expand her commitment to Generation Pep and take on the role of managing director for the team that works to unite people, organizations and companies to make it easier for all children and young people to live a healthy life.
- We are happy that Carolina now has the opportunity to spend more time and focus on Generation Pep and lead the work of the team. Carolina has a great social commitment and is the strong force and voice that we need to get individuals and organizations to act and engage with that children and young people should have the opportunity and willingness to live an active and healthy life. Our hope is that Carolina can make Generation Pep a popular movement that doesn't leave anyone in Sweden untouched, says Elin Annwall, managing director of The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation.
- I feel both happy and grateful for my new role in Generation Pep. I am really passionate about children's and young people's health and look forward to expanding my commitment. At the same time, I am very excited about leading our great team in the work ahead, says Carolina Klüft.
Gerda Nilsson Tjernström has decided to leave Generation Pep, but is still working in the organization in the spring to hand over to Carolina.
- I am incredibly proud of what Generation Pep has accomplished in a short time. It has been a great benefit to be involved in shaping the business together with our committed and competent team, and with the support of the organizations, companies and private individuals who share our vision of better health for all children and young people. I am convinced that Carolina is the right person to lead the work forward in the next step, says Gerda Nilsson Tjernström.

Frida Hansdotter won an Olympic gold in Pyeongchang when she won the women's slalom. All Swedish citizens who take Olympic gold receive a greeting, a telegram, from the royal house. And for Hansdotter the telegram is slightly more special than for the others.
She is related to Prince Daniel. Frida Hansdotter's mother is the cousin of Prince Daniel's mother.
But it has been a while before their roads are crossed.
- No, I've never even met him, we have a big family, Hansdotter told magazine Topphälsa in 2017.
But at Idrottsgalan the relatives sat at the same table.
For the first time ever, they got the chance to speak with each other.
- It is nice. Fun to meet Daniel for the first time. There are very mixed topics and we have had great fun at the table, says Hansdotter.
A little later, Prince Daniel went on stage to hand out the prize "Årets Peppare".
Then he took the opportunity to pay tribute to Swedish sports.
- You unite and sometimes you get the country to stop. We want to follow your successes and victories, and we mourn your defeats, he said.
- Frida Hansdotter and the whole gang. One should never mention anyone. No one mentioned, no one forgot. But it didn't work here, said Prince Daniel, who tore down the laughter of the audience in the Globe.
- We are related. But there were others who also performed well, he says.
The court commented in the evening:
“The Prince has had the pleasure of meeting most Swedish athletes tonight, including Frida Hansdotter who he sat next to during the evening's dinner in Ericsson Globe. The Prince is particularly pleased to have been awarded the prize "Årets Peppare" to Patrik Asplund from the Goodsport Foundation. Goodsport has in a short time grown into a nationwide business where children and young people can meet, be inspired and experience community".

Nice to see Daniel meet his cousin. :flowers:

I am surprised they have never met. I come from a huge family, and the only ones I have never met are ones raised in other countries. But every family is different. Interesting place to have your first meeting.

He comes from an athletic extended family, between her and Hans.

In Sweden we only use kusin (cousin) for first cousins. A second cousin is called a syssling and when there's an age divide the younger would call the older tant (aunt) or farbror (uncle). This of course is quite obsolete these days, we're all on a first name basis.

I have nine second cousins, and have never met four of them (although we all live in Finland), and my family is small. It isn't odd at all here in Finland. So I don't find at all odd that Daniel and Frida haven't met.

Press release from Generation Pep
Last night, the Goodsport Foundation received the Årets Peppare prize in live broadcast at the Sports Gala. His Royal Highness Prince Daniel, who also sits on the jury, handed out the prize, which consisted of the following justification:
Through his personal and sustained commitment, Patrik Asplund has through his Goodsport foundation succeeded in psyching up and motivating thousands of young people to find movement pleasure all over Sweden. In a short time, Goodsport has grown into a nationwide business that creates integration through new meeting places where children and young people can inspire each other and feel community. The Foundation's strategic and long-term work always creates better conditions for physical movement and a positive development for both the individual and for society as a whole. For its genuine commitment, credible leadership and for a business that creates a difference for children and young people every day, Patrik Asplund, the founder of the Goodsport is awarded with Årets Peppare 2019 Prize.

Prince Daniel is praised by the SVT viewers for the words in live broadcast
Prince Daniel was present at SVT's live-broadcast Sports Gala to give a prize for "Årets Peppare". A prize for those who work for children to have an active and healthy life. The initiative for the prize comes from Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.
In his speech, Prince Daniel raised the importance of children and young people being able to have the opportunity to live an active and healthy life. Prince Daniel first addressed his gratitude to the athletes in place at the gala.
- You athletes make us feel proud. You unite the people of Sweden in a way that is unbeatable and sometimes you in principle get the whole country to stop when you compete or have big matches because we want to follow you. Together, we want to celebrate your victories and together we mourn your defeats. The year that passed, you gave new wonderful memories and made incredible achievements, said Prince Daniel.
"What a charisma he still has, Prince Daniel", writes a viewer.
"H.R.H Prince Daniel, always so good!", Writes another.
“I pay tribute to Janne Andersson. I pay tribute to Kristin Kaspersen. I pay tribute to Prince Daniel", states a third.

I agree that it's quite normal not to have met all your second cousins. I guess most people may have met (most of) their parents' cousins and also (most of) their cousins' children but not necessarily their parents' cousins children unless their parents are very close to said cousins.

But only 9 second cousins is indeed a rather small family. In my case I surely have more than 100, most likely even more than 200 second cousins, on my mother's side of the family of which I've met some and would recognize only a few. On my father's side I did know several of my second cousins well as a child but haven't seen them for a long time.

Nonetheless, I would be pleased to meet those I didn't meet before. So, it's really nice that these two famous second cousins finally met.

On my mother's side (I don't know my father's family at all since I'm not in contact with him), I have about roughly 40 second cousins and have met half of them. One of my great-aunts in law became estranged from the family after my great-uncle, her husband, died at a young age from cancer, since she became pregnant out of wedlock which was a big issue back then (around the late '50s) particularly since the Irish side of my family (where he was from) were very conservative. I know they had twins and other children after the twins were born, and the last time my mother and aunt saw the twins and their siblings they were about 10, so I probably have a lot of other second cousins that I've never met and don't know about.

Generation Pep launched on 31st January 2018 the national campaign day "Upp och hoppa, Sverige" (Up and Jump, Sweden) against sedentary and to get people move more.
Generation Pep published many videos about the campaign, we all remember this video where Victoria was taking a break and running at the Royal Palace.
Now Generation Pep has an count down at their website to 31st January, something new is coming
"Pepidemin comes, are you ready?"
Generation Pep

With the campaign Upp och hoppa, Sverige (Up and Jump, Sweden), we urge the whole Sweden for more physical activity in everyday life and want to inspire more joy of movement!
Daniel visits on 31st January with Generation Pep Tärnsjö School in connection with national campaign day "Up and jump Sweden!"
Tärnsjö School has challenged all activities in the municipality of Heby to move between 9:30 and 9.45 on the 31st January. Then it is the national day "Upp och hoppa, Sverige!". Then also prince Daniel visits Tärnsjö school. He will participate in the school's activities in the morning and see how the school works to get the students to move more.
Tärnsjö School is one of 15 schools in the country that has been nominated for this year's Pep School by Generation Pep, an initiative for which the Crown Princess couple is the initiator. Generation Pep works to involve the entire community in promoting increased physical activity, better eating habits and a more equal health for children and young people. Generation Pep is behind the campaign "Upp och hoppa, Sverige!"
