A little low quality video from Solliden on 15th July, in the end of it Victoria and the rest of the family meeting the people with wheelchairs, who always have a special place at the courtyard.

Photos from the facebook of Per Jahnke, who has been the "official" photographer for Victoriadagen concert for many years. This year he was also in Solliden.

An article at the website for young people with disabilities. Elin tells about her trip to Victoria's birthday in Solliden.

I hoped to have a glimpse of Victoria and possibly at best get to shake hands, but that it would be as good as it actually was, none of us could have dreamed about that in our wildest imagination.
As we entered the Palace gate there was a girl who received us and she said I would get a place right in front of the Palace so I would see really well.
- Only you with a wheelchair and the crown princess are allowed to go there, she said.
I didn't believe my eyes but it was true. She showed us there and the band played when we arrived. We passed the whole press and the reporters to get where we were to stand. We stood just in front of the Palace, as said.
At 11 o'clock the family came out of the Palace and the king held a welcome speech, which he usually does. The king was in a really good mood!
After the king's speech, the royals got around and greeted the people, and I was among the first whom the Crown Princess greeted.
Before she came to me, I chatted a little bit with Prince Daniel, who at the time had little Prince Oscar on his arms.
This whole experience resulted in my long-awaited photo with Crown Princess Victoria.
It really was an amazing experience and I thought it was so good that they really took time and greeted everyone who was there.
I read then that Victoria shook hands with people for three hours and I think that is admirable. The king and queen came and talked to us twice, and it became a long conversation about everything possible. Among other things, Mom pointed out that the service was fantastic and the king nodded.
I had thought I would shake hands with the crown princess, but I stood there shaking hands with almost the entire royal family, and I was seen at TV4's live broadcast I've seen in retrospect.
Many thanks to Sollidens staff
I can't thank enough Solliden's staff for the excellent service we received, it was truly an experience beyond the ordinary and it has created a memory for me that will be with me for the rest of my life, thank you very much, it may take a few years, but I'll definitely go there again.

Here is a good photo of Daniel

Tonight is the private 40th birthday party for Victoria at Haga Palace. Margareta Thorgren confirmed it to the media and told that it is a surprise party which Daniel has organized for Victoria. She didn't want to comment the party more because it is private.
Daniel has prepared it for months with their friends.
Victoria arrived at 18.00 to Haga Palace, where foreign royals and friends waited for her at a party tent. At 18.20 a congratulation song was song for Victoria.
Seen arriving: Crown prince Haakon and princess Märtha Louise, Madeleine and Chris, Oscar and Emma Magnuson, Peter Forsberg and Nicole Nordin, Caroline and Peder Dinkelspiel, Leonie and Karl-Johan Persson, Charlotte Bonde.

According to Svensk Damtidning, Haakon and Märtha Louise arrived already at 15.00 to Haga Palace, and they are staying the night there.
Kronprinsessans bästa kungliga vänner på plats _ Svensk Damtidning

Expressen has more photos of the arrivals. The theme of the party is "Beach". In the park of the Haga Palace area there are several white party tents set up and a rigorous sound system. Around the area there are beach designs of various kinds together with sparkling volanger. The king's chef Stefano Catenacci and other cooks from Operakällaren arrived to Haga Palace at lunch time. Catenacci is also a friend of the royal family. Photographer Kate Gabor came too. Of Victoria's friends we can see at the photos also Caroline Kreuger Nilsson, Josephine Génetay, Martina Gahn Liska, Jan Dinkelspiel, Louise and Johan Lindh.
We can see at the photos also Daniel's brother-in-law Mikael Westling Söderström and niece Hedvig Blom at the backseat, so I think sister Anna was sitting beside Mikael.
According to Expressen, Victoria has rejected all the efforts from friends that she, like the others in the circle of friends, will have a birthday party.
But neither Daniel nor her closest friends would give up. So the closest circle around the Crown Princess Victoria - with Prince Daniel in the lead - under great secrecy has planned a surprise celebration to celebrate Victorias 40th birthday. Everything has taken place on Prince Daniel's initiative. Victoria was fooled away from Haga Palace to allow the staff to organize a truly grand 40th birthday party. Among others "The Imperial March" from "Star Wars" was played during the evening.
Chef Stefano Catenacci left Haga Palace at 00.30. Chris and Madeleine left just before 01.30. Mats Sundin was seen leaving too.

Aftonbladet tells that music was heard from Haga Palace even at three o'clock at night.
According to Margareta Thorgren, Victoria didn't have any idea of the party.
- It's a surprise party and it has really been kept secret from Victoria who did not anticipate anything in advance. It's a private party to celebrate her 40th birthday.

Victoria's surprise party sounded like a lot of fun and less formal. I wonder why Carl Philip didn't pop in to say Happy Birthday? I know the new baby was just brought home and Sofia was with him, but he had time to participate in a race. The king and queen not being there I could see because this party sounded like one for contemparies.

The race Carl Philip participated in was a two day event down in Anderstorp, Småland. It would be nearly impossible for him to travel back and fourth to Stockholm in between the races on saturday and sunday.

Anderstorp Racetrack is well over 400 km from Haga Palace. Carl Philip's race ended about 17.15 on Saturday and on Sunday morning at 10.05 he had a Warm Up. So it was impossible for him to come to the party.

Drag show artist Christer Lindarw told at TV-program "Go’kväll med Pekka Heino" how he got the idea of performing as Queen Silvia at Victoria's birthday concert in Öland.
- Queen Silvia I have portrayed several times over the years. We were invited to make a performance for the crown princess on her 40th birthday. If you shall do something for her, it should be something special, this was her birthday, said Christer Lindarw in the program.
Together with Lindarw's colleague Kent Olsson, they agreed that Christer as Queen Silvia would sing a tribute song to her daughter, Crown Princess Victoria.
And what a success it became!
- The whole royal family came and thanked, everyone thought it was great fun. And little Estelle was amazing sitting there watching, laughing and pointing at grandma and pointing to the scene: but there are two grandmothers, said Christer.
Most fun perhaps was that princess Madeleine's husband Chris O'Neill thought it was:
- He said it was pure and simple Broadway, the highlight of the night, Christer explains in the program.

Can't remember where I read it, but it was based on an article in Afton Posten IRRC.
A neighbor living some 500 meters away complained that the music was extremely loud. In fact it went on a full throttle until 06.00 in the morning.
The person in question didn't get a wink of sleep.
The police reported that they had received no complaints from the public.

- You can almost imagine the cups dancing on the table.
Well, I had a look at Google Earth. The nearest neighbors are indeed several hundred meters away across the lake. To the other side of Haga, the woods will block the sound.
Methinks you have to be very sensitive and sleep for fully opened windows in order to be kept awake by music half a kilometer away. Even across open water.
So perhaps our sleepless friend was exaggerating a liiitle bit?

Expressen has seen the invoice sent to Government Offices of the gift which the Riksdag and Government gave to Victoria, "the Swedish people's gift". A personalized silver spice set. The bowl of 18 carat Swedish red gold is for salt. The design has been inspired by the Crown Princess's love for nature. It has Victoria's monogram. It cost SEK 50 000.
Expressen says that for the vast majority of Sweden, SEK 50 000 is a lot of money to spend a birthday present. How did you find that it was reasonable?
- This is the Swedish people's gift to the Crown Princess. It is handed over by the Riksdag and Government and what the gift will consist of and how much it will cost is determined in a dialogue between the Riksdag and the Government offices, says Pernilla Eldblom, Press Officer at the Riksdag Administration.
How did you decide that SEK 50 000 is reasonable?
- It is decided on a case by case basis. This spice set will be used when the Crown Princess represents Sweden on official occasions, it is designed to last for a long time and is made by a Swedish designer.
Cajsa Holm, Press Communications Officer at the Government Offices, says it is customary for the Riksdag and Government, on behalf of the Swedish people, to congratulate the royal family on solemn occasions.
- It is a tradition, and the Riksdag and Government have often given common gifts from the Swedish people and shared the costs. At each occasion, a dialogue takes place between the Riksdag and the Government Offices where it is stated what the gift should consist of and what it should cost, she says.
