Thank you Jess, the pictures of the Crown Princess with the roses are really lovely!

I remember reading somewhere, in the beginning of July, that this year they were importing a special kind of Viktoria roses that can be over 2 meters high (as we saw in the pictures, they are big), from Ecuador in South America. Every year the flower dealers of Sweden sell roses and sometimes other flowers to support Crown Princess Victoria's Fund (The Victoria Fund) around her name- and birthday. A lovely tradition. The bakers' and confectioners' trade organization does the same.

Victoria looked lovely both in her dress and in national costume. She has really beautiful smile, like her mom.

She is Lena Philipsson. Her leg is a little big high but I guess that was part of her performance.

I love their national costumes,so sweet and earthly quite similar to Norway's bunad. How come the rest of the royals don't seem to have any?

I guess it's because it's Victoria's birthday so she wears the traditional costume (I don't think it's a national costume, maybe a county one?) Perhaps Queen Silvia wears one because she is Queen? All the royal ladies, however, do wear the national costume for National Day on June 6.

Victoria looks wonderful, but homegirl needs to change her look a little. She's almost 30 and if you didn't know better, you'd think she was barely in her 20s.

That said, thanks for the pictures.

You´re right, its the costume for the island of Öland, "Ölandsdräkten". Victoria started wearing it when she turned 15 I belive. Madeleine has never worn it and the King and Carl Philip do not use traditional costumes at all :)
Carl Philip did once or twice when he was little but then he stoped... perhaps he refused to wear it
