The Swedish members of the forum explained it here. The school is privately run, meaning it is not a state/ government school. In Sweden, however, each child receives a certain amount of money from the local community to contribute towards his/her education. That money can be directed by the parents to any school they choose, including a privately-operated school like Estelle's. The school, however, does not charge tuition fees per se.


I am not quite sure what the Swedish posters mean by "community", but, as far as I understand, it is a local government entity, similar to a municipality. Apparently, schools are under the jurisdiction of the communities, rather than the national government.


PS: I found a link in English where the Swedish system of school funding is better explained, see the section "Charter Schools" for an explanation of the difference between publicly-funded private schools and tuition-based private schools (of which there is only a handful in Sweden according to that site).

Today, Princess Estelle began the long journey towards her destiny: To one day become Sweden's Queen and Head of State. It is a heavy task that requires preparation, and Princess Estelle has already begun to participate in the daily representation work, explains former Marshal of the Court/Head of Victoria's Household Elisabeth Tarras-Wahlberg

The school itself is not very different from other children's education. It is rather after secondary school has ended that the real regent school starts with a thorough community education and international visit program. At the Crown Princess's time Björn von Sydow, Associate Professor of Political Science and former Speaker of the Riksdag taught the royal children about government and functions of the society.
- You can not represent a country if you do not know how it works, says Tarras-Wahlberg.
Elisabeth Tarras-Wahlberg hopes and thinks there is a long time left until the young princess takes over the throne.
- It's probably good to take one step at a time. Both the Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are very educational and want that the children can be children.
But sure, Princess Estelle can both write and read. Her parents believe that language skills are important and the family has had an English-speaking nanny in her presence for five years.
- The most important attributes of royals I think are learning to see other people and being part of society. The king's motto "For Sweden - With the times" is unbeatable, it really says all that is required from a modern regent, says Tarras-Wahlberg.

Oh how times flies by, it was just yesterday that Daniel faced hard times just being with Victoria and then I watched the marriage of the 2 of them and I cried for watching the love and joy they had for each other during the ceremony, then a baby, Princess Estelle and today she is running off to school......Estelle is so full of self confidence and ready to tackle the world it seems, both her parents are doing a fabulous job of helping her grow into a future queen.....this young lady has a very bright future ahead of her.

Victor and Frida Magnuson's son Edmund started also preschool class at Campus Manilla yesterday and got obviously to the same class with Estelle. Edmund is born in December 2012.

And that is something she has learned to handle early, Victoria and Daniel have taken her with them to work very early, she was two years old when she had her own first work event, inaugurated her christening gift. Of course it affects her, she is not as free as the other children, she must think for the security all the time, her parents must think for the security all the time. Alexandersson says that the biggest risk for Estelle are the social medias. She is going to be, like all children, at Instagram, and Facebook, and the hate there sometimes is, can affect her very much. So she must learn to handle with that.

Svensk Damtidning's article about Estelle's first school day. Principal Carina Hagström-Bergh said to the children: "Hi all children! This is a very big day!". The children went to the train and Estelle put the security chain to it's place and the teacher praised her: "You did fix that!". Svensk Damtidning writes that the parents were told about that there would be a lot of press, and it looked like the parents liked all the attention. Victoria and Daniel talked with Amanda Schulman and Svante Tegnér and his wife Pim. And Cedric Notz, who was there because Andrea Brodin's children Diana, 11 and Ivar, 9, both go to Campus Manilla too.

Like many schools, Campus Manilla has a parent association. And just like in several schools in Stockholm, these parents associations occasionally donate various contributions to the school, such as football plans or new school desks.
Now Svensk Damtidning can tell that the parents' association at Campus Manilla is giving a newly renovated tennis court for the children. Parents' association also stands for balls and rackets. In addition, you should be able to use the tennis court for other sports, such as basketball. There is therefore a great possibility for Princess Estelle to move a lot during her school days, something that Prince Daniel is working hard for in his official work as a prince.

Oh, Estelle is such a precious little girl, and it’s so sweet to see her so happy to be starting school! Cute to see that the older students took her to her class after she walked with Victoria and Daniel (imagine being told that your “younger buddy” you had to take into class was the future queen!) - it seems like a nice school.
It’s also sweet that they have a special train to transport the students - I hope Estelle has been having a great first week. You can tell she was really eager to start.

An Instagram account joking about kidnapping princess Estelle has led to a crisis meeting at Campus Manilla. At the same time, the Swedish Schools Inspectorate adds an additional investigation of the school after new alarms about violence and threats.

Pupils joked about kidnapping the princess at now deleted Instagram account , writes Aftonbladet.
The Instagram account led to the school calling for a crisis meeting, according to information to Aftonbladet.
Under Instagram name "Manillabitches", students at the prestigious School Campus Manilla have posted posts where other students were insulted.
At the same account, it has been joked about kidnapping princess Estelle who started school after the summer.
"If I kidnap Princess Estelle on lunch break, how much should the ransom sum be? " Wrote a student under the hashtag "prinsessanifara" (princess in danger), reports Aftonbladet.
According to information for the newspaper, the school called for a crisis meeting after they became aware of the account. A source that Expressen has contacted confirms the information.
- The account and posts came as a big shock, with advanced attack. It's very serious, says a person with insight in school's activities to Aftonbladet.
The newly appointed principal of the school, Carina Hagström-Bergh, has called the students behind the account, as well as their legal guardians, to a meeting about the Instagram account and the posts.
"This type of violation has consequences for the affected. It is totally unacceptable that it happens. As soon as we got to know about it, the account was immediately closed. We have taken powerful measures to prevent this happen again", the principal writes to Aftonbladet.
The school has informed the court about the event.
- We have been informed of this. The court has been in contact with the school and otherwise it is nothing we comment on. We have a good security organization and in terms of such security issues, we have a policy that we do not comment on. But we are aware and have been informed about this, says the director of press department Margareta Thorgren to Expressen.
A source whom Aftonbladet describes as a person with "good insight" means that the school will have it difficult to guarantee princess Estelle's safety when she grows up. During her first year, she is at a "protected environment" in a separate building.
- If there is no change in the school, then Daniel and Victoria will probably consider changing school, said the person.

There were a number of other children who would also start the course. Safe for the little heir to the throne to have her daddy with him. Prince Daniel is a very popular person and has a calming effect with his natural and playful manner. Estelle, according to information, looked expectant and happy.
Princess Estelle can now combine usefulness with pleasure as she begins to play theater. And it is also fun home at Haga. You can already imagine how she practices with her mom, dad and little brother Oscar.

Svensk Damtidning had an article about the preparations to an official dinner at the Royal Palace a couple of months ago. At the article it was told that the members of the royal family have each their own official cutlery. Jerry Carlde, steward of the Royal Household told that the king's cutlery has cutlery which Gustaf III has used and some of them has belonged to the king's father prince Gustaf Adolf.
And there is cutlery which princess Estelle will have. It's plain, without a lot of ornaments, and so beautiful, it's in a box lined with dark blue velvet and belonged to Queen Victoria's son Prince Erik. It would be so fun to get it to set it to the table to Estelle sometime, I have shown her pictures of it and said that these will be yours, told Jerry.

With the internet being truly international it is impossible to shelter children from the cold realities if an often morally bankrupt world. Unfortunately not every child is an innocent and sociopathic tendencies are there in shockingly young children. To write off such behaviour as kids being kids would be a mistake.

I seem to remember there were already some controversies regarding this school but that did not withhold Victoria and Daniel from sending their daughter to the school. The issue is reported in all the major Swedish papers as well. Except the threats, made by other students on Instagram, to kidnap Princess Estelle what's new is that the National School Inspection has issued a list of demands that have to be met by the school. If the school fails to do so they could in the end be forced to close. This happens every now and then, but not very often.
