The court tells about today at its website
Prince Daniel visits Singapore with a delegation consisting of young entrepreneurs and business executives, linked to the Prince Daniel's Fellowship. The visit is carried out to gain an insight into the Singaporean business climate with a focus on start-up companies and innovation.
Singapore is consistently ranked as one of the world's most innovative countries and over 250 Swedish companies are established in the country.
Port of Singapore
The delegation visited Port of Singapore, one of the world's busiest ports, in the morning, to gain an insight into, among other things, the port's complicated logistics system.
Nanyang Technological University
During the morning, the Prince and delegation visited Nanyang Technological University. NTU was founded in 1991 and is now one of the world's leading educational institutions. Professor Subra Suresh, the University's Rector, gave a presentation for the group, focusing on NTU's innovation and entrepreneurship program.
Ministerial meeting
In the afternoon, the delegation met Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore's senior minister and coordinating minister of social policies, for a discussion on innovation and entrepreneurship in Singapore. The discussion was moderated by Marcus Wallenberg, chairman of the Prince Daniel's Fellowship.
Nordic Innovation House
Then Nordic Innovation House was presented to the group. The House is a gathering place where small and medium-sized Nordic companies can meet to exchange experiences and get help in the Singaporean market. Representatives of a number of Nordic companies on site also had the opportunity to present these more closely and talk about their experiences of entrepreneurship in Singapore.
Reception at the residence
In the evening, Sweden's ambassador to Singapore, Niclas Kvarnström, gave a reception at the Swedish residence. As guests were Singaporean representatives, Swedish entrepreneurs in the country, the Nordic ambassadors and more.
During the reception, Prince Daniel gave a speech in which he said:
"1966 Sweden recognized Singapore. But our relations, of course, go back much further. Swedish ships started sailing here in the 19th century. Since then our relations have been rooted in trade.
Even though nations are different in many ways, we have a lot in common. We are both countries with small populations and highly dependent on exports. We know that our countries would never survive, if we only produced goods for the domestic market.
This strong relief in free trade and our openness to the world and entrepreneurship has taken Sweden to where we are today, and I believe, also Singapore.
We have come to know your market. We have come to establish new relations.
And above all, we have come to learn from you."
