Prince Daniel's fine words: "Fantastic"
Prince Daniel was welcomed with open arms to the Red Cross in Malmö on Thursday morning.
With great dedication and curiosity he embarked on the organization's activities. On his own initiative, the prince has requested a visit to Malmö, with the aim of entering the activity.
This morning, Prince Daniel participated in a presentation, where representatives of the Red Cross told about the organization. Prince Daniel was questionable and active at the meeting, and occasionally burst into positive comments.
- What a fantastic opportunity, said Prince Daniel, when Kerstin Larsson, chairman of the Red Cross Malmö District, told about the job opportunities offered by the organization.
Every year, 50-60 circuits are estimated to be closed over the country, because the business is unable to keep going - something that the prince reflected in the course of the presentation.
- Sometimes I think things are being professionalized nowadays. When I grew up, the parents pushed us to training, where they then helped as a coach. Now it feels like our parents rather work and answer the e-mail. Can you see that the commitment is different now than before?, he asked.
Margareta Wahlström, Swedish Red Cross president, responded to Prince Daniel's question.
- What we see is that volunteers tend to engage in certain specific issues. We also notice that fewer people want to sit on the board, they want to do things.
After the presentation, Prince Daniel was shown around in the café and shop, where he also met several of the volunteers who work in the organization's activities.
- Good jackets here, he said as he passed a bar of outerwear for sale, and continued:
- It's great that you have the store and café together, what a good combination.

Prince Daniel visited the Red Cross in Malmö on Thursday. He learned how to help people who are victims of war crimes and torture but got also information about all the work done by volunteers in the Malmö District.
There was great expectations was great and many had hauled up the mobile camera to perpetuate the royal visit.
Prince Daniel became super popular when he, after the presentation, went to a shop and cafe and was photographed with several people from daily activities.
- Have you baked the carrot cake I just got? It was great, said the prince.
The prince came to Malmö to inform about the Red Cross's many different activities.
- Like Prince Daniel, the Red Cross has a commitment to both physical and mental health, and it was during a conversation between the prince and a person from Red Cross, the visit to Malmö was proposed, revealed the Red Cross's chairman Margareta Wahlström.
The Prince received a presentation of the work for vulnerable Malmö residents in the morning, focusing especially on children in sheltered accommodation and information on the work to preserve the memory of the White Bus Initiative in 1945. Then he proceeded to the Red Cross's treatment centre for persons Affected by War and Torture.
- Given the link between the Bernadotte and the Red Cross family, I think the prince knows a lot about how we work already, said Margareta Wahlström, referring, inter alia, to Folke Bernadotte and the White Buses, and to the fact that Princess Christina was the Red Cross president.

A prince on a study visit to hell
Already in advance, Daniel thought that Thursday's trip to Malmö would be a study visit to hell. But that was his own idea. So now the prince is on the stairs of Drottninggatan 2 - in the Red Cross's Red treatment centre for persons affected by War and Torture.

Daniel attended this morning at a meeting of the steering group for Prince Daniel's Fellowship and its entrepreneurial programme.

Daniel met today professor Peter Stenvinkel ahead of the World Kidney Day, which takes place on March 8th.
At the meeting, Professor Peter Stenvinkel began with reporting on the work done within the framework of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) to globally reduce the risk of acute and chronic renal disease.
Professor Stenvinkel also told the World Kidney Day on March 8th, which highlights chronic renal failure in women who have a higher risk of chronic renal failure than men.
In conclusion, Professor Stenvinkel told about current studies that reduced water intake could increase the risk of obesity, diabetes and chronic renal failure. Similarly, he highlighted the importance of the composition of the diet to prevent and treat chronic renal failure and how we can learn from solutions developed in nature.

Prince Daniel to the students: "We want you to dare"
Together with successful entrepreneurs, Prince Daniel lectured on Wednesday for students at Linnaeus University and Katedralskolan in Växjö. One of the goals was to get students to dare to begin a career as an entrepreneur.
The auditorium at Katedralskolan was full when the prince was on stage together with entrepreneurs Jarno Vanhatapio, Sara Wimmercranz and Anna Stenberg.
- Our goal and vision is that everyone who wants to become self-employed will dare to take the step, because it's not like that today, said Prince Daniel.
One of those who listened them was Cajsa Gunnarsson, who studies economics at Katedralskolan.
- It was very inspiring to listen and hear how they on stage really took a way to success and that we can also take our own path, she said.
Prince Daniel previously ran a gym as a self-employed person, and stressed the importance of creating an atmosphere of self-employment that is more permissive in terms of risk taking and failure.
- Failures give experience and there is almost no successful business today that has not failed on its way. Our whole life is about gaining experience. We call it failures, but would as well be able to call it experience instead, Prince Daniel told SVT after the lecture.
Earlier, he had been met with loud applause from the students when he finished the words:
- I hope you feel nothing is impossible. It is not certain that the first company you are investing will be successful, but then you move on to the next one and eventually succeed. We want you to know after this day, "It these on stage succeeded, I can do it too."

Daniel was interviewed by Radio Sweden P4 Kronoberg.
Daniel said that the students told of many good business ideas, but in particular, he liked a bunch of Young Enterprise entrepreneurs who had the idea of visiting the retirement homes and elderly people who are alone. It was very exciting to hear them, said Daniel.

- You don't need to have that great idea. Most companies copy what another company does, study their customers and do something of what they do a bit better, said Prince Daniel.
A common advice from all entrepreneurs on the question of how to dare to begin was:
- Release control needs! You will solve problems that arise after hand.
- It does not matter how good your idea is, there will always be people who turn it down, explained Anna Stenberg. But as long as you believe in the idea, go for it! A strong driving force is to convince those who say it is not possible.
After the lecture, about 30 students participated in round table discussions with the Prince and entrepreneurs to get concrete tips and inspiration about their own corporate ideas.

Daniel suggested to some young entrepreneurs from Young Enterprise program that they should contact Victoria.
- What characterizes the young generation is that they have a big social commitment. There is a lot of entrepreneurial spirit in these areas. It is important to see opportunities and not problems, see setbacks as experiences. I hope the inspirators sparked a spark at someone who did not think it was possible, says Prince Daniel.
After the lecture, about 30 students told about their UF companies and received feedback from the entrepreneurs. Some of them were Emma Eriksson, Carl Hedenbergh and Philip Folkesson who run EnvironmenTALK UF, which teaches students how to save money by being environmentally conscious.
- We want to make young people environmentally conscious, sustainable generation. It has been an exciting day, says Carl Hedenbergh.
- The prince and entrepreneurs were committed to our idea, we got tips and contacts. I am excited to work with the company, says Emma Eriksson.
And Prince Daniel liked the ideas of the youth and surprised with an invitation.
- He suggested that we book a meeting with his wife, Crown Princess Victoria, who is committed to environmental issues. We hadn't expected that, said Philip Folkesson.

En Frisk Generation has just started their activity in Ockelbo. The Municipality of Ockelbo about the activity at their website on 6th March:
Ockelbo invests in physical activity among families with children
Next week, tPerslundaskolan's gymnastics hall is filled by 23 second classers with run in the legs.
Together with their families and health coordinator Fredrik Ingelsson, the children will be doing physical activity two days a week throughout the spring and autumn, with a joint dinner at Perslunda afterwards.
Since January, Fredrik Ingelsson has been employed at 40 percent to work with "En Frisk Generation" in Ockelbo. The organization works nationally to promote physical activity and good dietary habits among families with children since 2011. The project is aimed at students in grade two, as well as their families, and offers two occasions a week with physical and fun activities for the whole family.
In Ockelbo, 22 families have signed up and Fredrik has called all parents and caregivers to second class teachers in the municipality in recent weeks, telling them about the activities and invited them to join.
- It has been very positive. Everyone thinks it's a great idea and many want to be with, says Fredrik.
Prince Daniel, the patron of En Frisk Generation, is delighted with the great interest in the Ockelbo effort.
- To give children and young people the prerequisites for a more active and healthy life should be given priority. It's fun that Ockelbo municipality makes this effort, says Prince Daniel.
As the response grew, the families have been divided into two groups, one meets on Tuesday nights and the other on Wednesday nights. On Saturday mornings, both groups meet and together children and parents devote themselves to physical activity in the Perslundaskolan's gymnastics hall.
To make it easy for the families to attend, everyone is also invited to dinner in the Perslundaskolans dining room after the daily activity. In this way, the families do not have to worry about cooking before or after the activity.
- Everyone eats for free together. It feels great to be able to offer families dinner to promote good eating habits as well, says Fredrik Ingelsson.

Daniel attended today at the Jury meeting for ICA's Grand Entrepreneurship Prize, he is a member of the Jury.

Two new prizes raise the importance of entrepreneurship in society
ICA will hand out SEK 100,000 each to two people who, with the help of their ideas and action, positively affect society. By awarding prize to "The Starter of the Year" and "The Local Hero of the Year", ICA hopes to increase entrepreneurship in Sweden.
Prize winners will be appointed by a vote together with a jury consisting of: Prince Daniel, Aida Hadzialic, former senior and knowledge minister, Sara Rosengren, Professor at Stockholm School of Economics, Anders Källström, President of the Federation of Swedish Farmers, Ahmed Abdirahman, Järvaveckan's Initiative, ICA Trader Grete Tuven and Per Strömberg, CEO of the ICA Group.
The first grant - "The Local Hero of the Year" - goes to a person who has contributed to positive development in one's immediate area.
The second grant - "The Starter of the Year" - is awarded to a person who has immigrated to Sweden and, with the help of one's experience and entrepreneurship, started an activity that created new opportunities for both oneself and others.
The prizes will be awarded on 3rd May in Stockholm.

Daniel had today at the Royal Palace a meeting with representatives of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences ahead of tomorrow's Prince Daniel's Entrepreneurial Day. The event was added to the calendar today.
At the meeting attended professor Tuula Teeri, the President of the Academy and Jenny Nordlöw, project manager of Prince Daniel's Fellowship and its entrepreneurial programme.
Young entrepreneurs from all over the country gather together for the fourth time for an inspiration day organized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and Prince Daniel's Fellowship.

The fourth Prince Daniel's Entrepreneurial Day is held today at the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. 100 entrepreneurs have been invited to the event. Daniel welcomed the entrepreneurs and held an opening speech.

Prince Daniel held a grand speech for hundred young entrepreneurs - and urged everyone to dare.
It's no secret that Prince Daniel is passionate about entrepreneurship. He started himself as an entrepreneur in sport and health.
But also in his role as prince, he has a focus on entrepreneurship - and has started Prince Daniel's Fellowship, which is a collaboration between him and the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences aimed at inspiring young people in Sweden.
- We have visited many universities and upper secondary schools in Sweden. With us on the trips we have had many of Sweden's strongest entrepreneurship images, our so-called inspirators. They have shared their success recipes, their backlashes and other things that may mean something, told Prince Daniel in a speech at Prince Daniel's Entrepreneurial day.
And Prince Daniel was proud of the power that was in the room.
- As a Swede, I often feel pride of how we perform as a nation. Not least as entrepreneurs. We are often well-placed in international comparisons.
There was also a certain gratitude in Prince Daniel. As he himself said, entrepreneurs create job opportunities and build Sweden's future prosperity.
- Thank you for your great dedication and thank you for taking the time to focus on Sweden's future, said Prince Daniel in his speech.

Hundred specially invited entrepreneurs gathered to Prince Daniel's entrepreneurial day at The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences in Stockholm. Daniel started his speech by speaking about Auguste och Louis Lumière. Then he said at his speech among other things:
"We will continue to celebrate our successes. We shall pay tribute to those who dare and honor the one who succeeds. But that does not mean we can settle down. There are ambitious people even in other countries, running at least as fast as we do."

Daniel attended today at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce's seminar "Stockholm i mitt hjärta? – Så minskar vi klyftan mellan stad och land" (Stockholm in my heart? - Like this we reduce the gap between town and country).
The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce's report about town and country shows that people living outside the metropolitan area feel that the opposites are increasing. At the same time, the answers clearly indicate that people who live do not understand the living conditions in other places.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences at their Annual Report 2017 about Prince Daniel's Fellowship and its entrepreneurial programme.

Prince Daniel's Fellowship continues to encourage the students of upper secondary schools and universities for the thought of own company.
- Now we have actually visited all Swedish schools. After the project started we have met 20,000 students and it feels amazingly fun, says Jenny Nordlöw, who since last summer is the project manager. Her task is not just to run the business, she will also develop the activities and figure out new ones.
- A new feature this year is the networking meetings. There young entrepreneurs meet and discuss with one by our experienced inspirators. We have also expanded our mentoring program.
But Jenny Nordlöw would like to see the program getting more participants.
- Our network is unique and very strong, both in terms of knowledge and experience. So there is certainly more we can do to encourage young people to dare to invest in their own entrepreneurship and to support young entrepreneurs. Much may be done digitally.
The schools which are visited are always positively related to the program.
- They become happy and honored that Prince Daniel and the inspirators want to visit. And afterwards they are even more positively tuned to entrepreneurship. One key to this is that everything happens with relaxed feeling, with a twinkle in the eye. The successful entrepreneurs share
generously with their experiences.
This year's foreign trip went to Finland. Together with about 40 of the project participants Prince Daniel and the project chairman Marcus Wallenberg visited Aalto University, several companies and the startup event Slush.
- The purpose of the trip was to learn how they work with entrepreneurship and innovation in Finland. An additional plus was also that the participants got to know each other closer. In addition, we became very warmly received on the companies we visited.
Although the project has successfully worked for several years to create positive attitudes to entrepreneurship, Jenny Nordlöw thinks more is needed.
- Certainly, there is a more positive attitude nowadays. Young Enterprise UF, and many other initiatives have made more people see entrepreneurship as an alternative to employment. But the fear to fail deters. In our project, we try thereforeto lower the threshold. We and other activities with that goal are needed still for a long time.
That's why she thinks it's good to have The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences IVA like as a starting point.
- Historically, IVA is perhaps not best known for entrepreneurship. But it has changed and IVA is a stable platform for the project which as well opens doors to their network, says Jenny Nordlöw.

It will be interesting to see what new ways to operate Daniel and Prince Daniel's Fellowship will develop. On 18th April Daniel visits schools in Sundsvall and on 31st May in Lund.
 
Daniel visits on Wednesday Hedbergska Upper Secondary School and Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall with Prince Daniel's Fellowship and its entrepreneurial program. Svensk Damtidning's reporter Helena Wiklund was in Sundsvall at Daniel's school visits and Daniel gave an interview to him.

Daniel is truly Sweden's own entrepreneurial prince. During Wednesday he was in Sundsvall to psych up young people to dare to take the step and start a business and Svensk Damtidning received an interview.
Every year, Prince Daniel visits upper secondary schools and universities around Sweden together with his Fellowship. 20,000 students have already heard him spread his message.
- Our vision is that every young person who wants should dare to take the step and start a business. There are many who go around and think they have a great business idea, but who dare not take the step because of fear of failure, says Prince Daniel to Svensk Damtidning.
- Starting a business is a great way to create change - and this generation that is growing up today often has a big social commitment, wants to change and want to influence environmental issues.
- Then I think it's incredibly important that we get more female entrepreneurs like Isabella here, who are strong and inspire many. Then we can really get change and a more equal society.
You were 24 years old when you started your first business?
- I think I was even younger ...
What made you take the step? Did you get the ide from home?
- I have not had parents who have been entrepreneurs. I think rather it was about good self-esteem and good self-confidence. And that I saw opportunities and had an ability that made me dare to bet. Then everything doesn't go straight as a pin, and more people have witnessed this. Failing is a natural consequence when you are brave and dare do something.
How do you use your entrepreneurial drive in your life today?
- I do this by creating such things as Prince Daniel's Fellowship and Generation PEP. It's like starting a business - but the purpose is not to earn money and drive a business. But to make a difference in areas that I think are important, such as health.

Daniel attended today at Jury meeting for ICA's Grand Entrepreneurship Prize.

Next Wednesday 25th April Daniel comes to Finland again, he will visit Helsinki and Espoo. So far I haven't seen any information about this visit, maybe it is with Prince Daniel's Fellowship and its entrepreneurial programme again.

I found some information on the Government's website. The Minister for Health and Social Affairs, Annika Strandhäll, will join Prince Daniel at the visit that will focus on childhood obesity.

Count Gustaf Douglas is one of the richest men in Sweden. Together with his wife and sons he's a shareholder of several big Swedish corporations and both him and his wife brought a castle each into the marriage. His sister Rosita was married to the Duke of Marlborough, his sister Elisabeth is married to the Duke in Bavaria and her daughter Sophie is married to Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein.

Daniel visits today schools in Helsinki and Espoo in Finland.

Daniel started his visit at Drumsöskolan in Lauttasaari. He and Minister for Health and Social Affairs Annika Strandhäll arrived about 15 minutes late. It was raining a little, when the children from third and sixth grade welcomed them. Finnish Minister for European Affairs, Culture and Sport Sampo Terho took part at the visit.
- The prince's primary wish was to visit schools and see practical activities, says Noora Moilanen, Communication Coordinator of Finnish Schools on the move program.
Daniel followed the classes and talked relaxed with the children. The children told that they were a little nervous but Daniel was kind and interested in their studies and activities. Daniel took part in some activities, as we can see from the great videos.

Increasing physical activity and decreasing sedentary time among school-aged children
Finnish Schools on the Move is a national action programme aiming to establish a physically active culture in Finnish comprehensive schools. Schools and municipalities participating in the programme implement their own individual plans to increase physical activity during the school day.

Between his two school visits, the Daniel lunch at chef Hans Välimäki's Palace restaurant.
The chef went to greet Daniel and his entourage before the lunch. At lunchtime, the group enjoyed the season's best dish asparagus, including Swedish salmon.
The lunch break was filled with work, as there were also several teachers, principals and civil servants present to tell the prince and Minister Annika Strändhäll about the Finnish Schools on the move program and their experiences on it.

Daniel says in the video:
"It is fantastic to see this energy and joy which has been created here. And that each child can move according to his/her own ability. We know that children who feel physically capable already in young years take it as something important and positive with them for the rest of their lives. And the other way round. If you do not feel physically capable like as a child you can suffer from it for the rest of your life."
Can you think taking something from this project into your own "Generation Pep" project?
"It is definitely an inspiration, many people in our delegation have shown interest and been impressed by what they have seen."
Something special you got stuck with?
"I don't think that movement needs to be about sports, personally, I'm fond of sports and always keeping up with it, but physical activity and joy of movement are all about pursuing and finding methods for what doesn't need to be a sport. For example, when you take a break in the classroom and play, raise the pulse and train coordination."

There was a chaos in the corridors of Drumsö school when the school was visited by Prince Daniel from Sweden. Indeed, at Drumsö Low School, physical activity has been implemented in teaching and avoiding sedentary sits high on the priority list.
Prince Daniel was in place with Sweden's Social Minister Annika Strandhäll, to take part in the school's work to encourage physical activity. The Prince and his delegation were welcomed by minister Sampo Terho who spoke in the school gymnastics hall.
For the students, teaching was as usual and the prince got to follow to the classroom and gymnastics hall, where the prince himself actively participated in the exercises.

- A lot of inspiration, says the prince
Drumsö School is one of the schools included in the Schools on the Move project, which works to encourage more movement and physical activity in schools. Today, 87 percent of Finnish elementary schools are registered in the program. At Drumsö School, Johanna Berlin has been the driving force behind the project and the work of conscious exercise.
During the morning, Prince Daniel followed Berlin's teaching and they also exchanged a few words.
- The Prince told us that he is very worried about the fact that in Sweden there are so big gaps between different social groups and was curious to hear what it looks like in Finland.
According to Berlin, Prince Daniel was also interested in the Finnish school system.
- He is very aware of inequalities between different social groups and highlighted polarization in society.
According to Berlin, Prince Daniel's visit acknowledged the work done in Finland.
- Prince Daniel's visit helps to make this work visible and shows that it is important, says Berlin.
- This is something that Finland is good at and it is important to feel proud.
