Prominent research in cardiovascular disease will be at the focus when Prince Daniel, Honorary Member of the Heart-Lung Foundation Board, visits three researchers at the Karolinska Institute on June 3rd.
- Prince Daniel is very interested in our issues and has initiated this study visit at the Karolinska Institute in order to learn more about patient-oriented research and meet three researchers who have received Heart-Lung Foundation Major research grants, says Staffan Josephson, general secretary of the Foundation.

This year's research grants will be awarded by Prince Daniel during a ceremony on June 26th.

Daniel was today playing golf at Bro Hof at the Nordea Masters Pro-Am day. He played with golfer Alvaro Quiros and Nordea's ceo Christian Clausen. Daniel gave an interview to TV4 and said that the last 9 holes went very well, the first 9 were tough. But he got some birdies. He said that his handicap is under five. Daniel said that he got many tips from Alvaro Quiros. Daniel was asked if he was nervous while playing with a golf pro. Daniel said that he has done it before so he wasn't nervous. Daniel said the Peter Hansson is one of the favourites and of course one must support a swedish golfer. Daniel thought he is coming to watch the Masters on Sunday afternoon. Nordea Masters starts tomorrow.

Last year Daniel delivered the trophy at Nordea Masters.

Another video of Daniel playing golf. According to the reporter, Daniel was in a very good mood and talked happily with people while he wasn't playing. Daniel laughed that he had a little bad luck at hole 13, the drive was good but then came difficulties and he did only a bogie. He said that nowadays he hasn't time for golf enough and his play is a little uneven, the good strikes are good but the bad ones are really too bad. Daniel was able to choose with whom of the professional golfers he played, and he chose Alvaro Quiros because he is one of the players who have longest drives. Daniel, whose handicap is 4.4., has been a member of Bro Hof from 2007. Alvaro Quiros found out only after half round that he was playing with a prince. He laughed that he surely wasn't the king today, but he hopes he is the king when the Masters starts on Thursday.

Daniel delivered the Trophy at Nordea Masters, an European Tour Golf Tournament at the Bro Hof Castle Golf Course.
The winner is Mikko Ilonen from Finland, good for him!

Daniel visited today Karolinska Institutet to learn more about research and meet some prominent scientists who have received the Heart-Lung Foundation Major research grants. During the visit Daniel got to examine a small mouse heart. The purpose of the study in the laboratory was able to see the heart's structure, cells and the amount of stored fat.

Oh, I love his look! :D He seems to be a nice man and he wears with elegance his clothes. I had a friend like him. He was a lovely guy!
 
I've never been a fan of Daniel's hair, kind of like Maxima's. I truly think he is a wonderful addition to the Royal family and a great husband and father to Victoria and Estelle, so I can overlook the hair. And the glasses bug me a little too, but oh well, can't have everything can we.
 
I agree. He is a good husband and father Im sure. But the hair and glasses are a bit strange. He could be a very handsome man as I remember seeing him without the glasses. Maybe contacts or a different frame for glasses. Well, he is who he is though, and if he is comfortable with that, then I guess nothing else matters.

I think he has thought his look very carefully. He wants to be taken seriously and not be just a pretty boy like Carl Philip.

I prefer Daniel than Carl Philip, because he's got a singular way in his look. :)
 
Daniel is the type of man that just melts your heart when you see him interacting with people. He has a very sincere face and warm hearted aura. I can very well see why Victoria fought so hard to be able to marry him. He may not look like a Brad Pitt type, but his inner beauty over shadows his physical imperfections with ease.
 
HRH Prince Daniel of Sweden will attend the opening match of UEFA Women's EURO 2013 on July 10th in his role as patron of the tournament and the Make A Healthy Heart Your Goal campaign.
SvFF president Karl-Erik Nilsson said: "We are very pleased that Prince Daniel confirmed that he will see the inaugural game, and thus show support both for the Swedish national team and for the tournament, which means so much to Swedish football."

Daniel visited today the Swedish National Women Football Team in Bosön. The team is training for the UEFA Women's EURO 2013 football Championships. Daniel will attend at the opening game between Sweden and Denmark in 10th July at Ullevi. He is the patron both of the tournament and of the Make A Healthy Heart Your Goal campaign.

Daniel met on Saturday over 100 volunteers of the women's EURO2013 at the Solna Hall, they had an information and training meeting. During the day Heart-Lung Foundation undertook training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Daniel is both patrons of the UEFA Women's Championship in 2013 and an honorary member of the Board of the Heart-Lung Foundation.
- It's great that you show up in the summer and you will take part of the heart-lung program. This training can be crucial when the accident occurs, said Prince Daniel to the participating volunteers and wished everyone good luck in the summer.

Daniel delivered today the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation's research grant to Leif Svensson at Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. The grant for three years is 15 million SEK. Leif Svensson is Professor of Cardiology at the South Hospital in Stockholm and wants to establish a center for cardiac arrest research.

The swedish politicians would want Daniel to raise up LGBT issues when he on August 14 goes to Moscow to attend the event "Sweden Russia Business Forum" at the Swedish Embassy. On the same trip he will also represent the Swedish royal family at the World Championships in Athletics.
But Bertil Ternert says there are no plans to make any political markings and reminds that to engage in policy issues concerning other countries is not the mandate of the Head of State and Head of State's family.

I do not see how Prince Daniel could campaign for LGBT-rights at an official state visit, CP Victoria has shown her sincere support very well by attending the Stockholm Gay Gala where she handed out awards.
For me this was a remarkable commitment of a royal figure to support the rights of LGBT people,something I do not remember any other royal has done before.
In Russia there is a lot of homophobia nowadays-for a diplomat and important political figure it would be difficult to speak about LGBT rights,even if they privately support demands for equality and justice...
 
Daniel isn't going to an official state visit, only the king makes state visits.
But he can't participate in an action regarding political life of Russia, since the king and the royal family don't participate in political life.
The monarch occupying the Swedish throne under the Act of Succession is the country’s head of state. The Swedish head of state, since September 1973 King Carl XVI Gustaf, exercises no political power and does not participate in political life. As head of state, he is the representative of the country as a whole, and in that capacity performs mainly ceremonial duties and functions.

About Daniel's trip to Moscow, on 14th August there is a reception at the swedish Embassy. In addition to Daniel, among the guests will be the members of the Russian Swedish Business Council and the Swedish national team in athletics. On 15th Daniel makes the official opening of the Business Forum and attends at the seminars. In the evening he attends at the World Athletics Championships at Luzhniki stadium. According to the court website he will not attend at the optional program on 16th August.

Daniel visits the Ockelbo Camp on Tuesday 13th August. The camp was a wedding present from Ockelbo to Daniel and Victoria. It was planned that the camp would be held for the first time in 2011 but it didn't happen, so now it is the first camp. Between Monday and Friday, twelve children participate in the much anticipated camp. Four children from Ockelbo and eight from the Association "A healthy generation" from Södertälje. The children are between 6-12 years old and will enjoy swimming, elk safaris, canoeing and fishing. In the evenings, the children sit around a campfire, peddle and tell stories.
Crown Princess Victoria will not participating this year. But prince Daniel will visit the children. It may be that he will do some canoeing, says Anja Nordenfelt, Operations Manager at "A healthy generation."
The idea is that the camp will be a annual event.

The children and Daniel fed elks - with bananas, and Daniel said he didn't knew that they liked bananas so much. While asked if Daniel has some candy on Saturdays, he said that he tries stick to the fruit. But the biggest surprise was probably when he was surprised by a boy who was wondering "why you need a king? '. Daniel laughed heartily at the question, but he didn't give an detailed reply.

Daniel attended today at the reception of the Sweden Russia Business Forum in Moscow. The reception was held at the swedish Embassy and members of the Russian Swedish Business Council and the Swedish national team in athletics were among the guests.
