Everybody aske, what will Victoria wear? and which tiara?

But what about the future prince? What will he wear?

I would love to see him in a uniform, but I guess that is out of the question. ( did he ever join the army)

Daniel will probably be wearing white tie for the wedding. Seeing as to my knowledge, he's not in the military and hasn't been given any Swedish orders, he'll simply be wearing his best tuxedo.

He will most likely given the Order of the Seraphime prior to the Wedding so that he can wear it at the Wedding Day. At the moment it's not possible to give him an Order as according to the swedish Constitution (since 1974) no Orders can be given to swdish citizens (except member of the Royal Family).

But can the king really do that? Give him the order BEFORE the wedding i mean - beacuse until he has said "yes" in the church he´s not a member of the royal family just an ordinary citizen.

I don't think he can be given order as you have to apart of the family or a non citizens, he won't be apart of the family (officially) till after the wedding. Unless there's anther lesser known one that isn't mentioned in the constitution, or another royal family decides to give him one.

It will be an spectacular and LONG procession through Stockholm after the wedding - i can´t wait to follow it all. When they are on Kungsgatan (kings street) people will throw confetti - just as they did at the war end 1945 - and the part where they travel on the royal barge "Vasaordern" will be quite long, much longer then the king and queen in 1976. Now i hope for good weather - and NO rain :flowers:

Gosh I wish I understood the language. I'm seriously thinking about Rosetta Stone....

How many miles will they cover?

Will you actually be there? That should be fun:).

On August 19th a wedding book of Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling will be published. It will include private pictures of Victoria and Daniel, for example pictures of the renovations at Haga Slott and fittings of the wedding gown.

The ship Götheburg will participate in the festivities around the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling, it will arrive to Stockholm on 14th June. The royal family has always supported our project around the world. It's therefore important for us to be there and be part of the celebration, says Richard Thor Anderson from the Svenska Ostindiska Companiet.

I haven´t decided yet actually. It would be fun to see it live and feel the atmosphere in the city - but you will see much much more and better in front of the tv... Now i lean at viewing it infront of the tv - but we´ll see.

I'm very excited for this royal wedding. I wasn't a royal watcher when the other big weddings (Frederik & Mary, Felipe & Letizia, etc) took place, so this will be my first one. It should be lovely. :)

Me neither ! I'm really looking forward to this wedding ! Too bad that I'm not going to be in Stockholm to watch the wedding :).

I am so excited about this wedding. I have never followed a royal wedding before and have booked the day of this wedding off work. I am hoping that some of the Swedish TV channels will show it live on the internet

I love the book cover!! Victoria looks beautiful:). Too bad the wedding will be like 6:30 am my time. I guess I have to get up early! I've never followed a royal wedding either. This will the first for me.

well, I can actually say that the last royal weddings that I saw were all british. Diana,Fergie, and Camilla. I missed the Dutch and Spanish weddings. So this will be fun since this is the 1st one I get to follow from start to finish. THANKS TO THIS FORUM!!!:flowers::wub::heart:
I love all you guys that take the time to post things so we can get them 1st hand and very very quickly I might ad. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the work everyone does on this forum!! Otherwise, I would never find out anything!!!!

Victoria and the Archbishop are disagreeing on whether King Carl Gustaf should walk her down the aisle. I don't see a problem with that, but since it is a tradition it is expected of her. I think the archbishop should give them what they want.

Most priests (atleast those i have heard) disagree with the Crownprincess - that she should not be walking down the aile with her father - they want her to follow the Swedish traditions since many hundreds of years that the couple walk down the aile and by doing so sending a message that they are equal and they both are doing this out of their free will. The other way, that the bride is escorted down the aile with her father, is becoming more and more common - seeing this in american movies many swedish couples think this is a tradition - but it´s not an Swedish tradition therefore the priests objects, saying how will they convince other couples to follow the Swedish tradition if the Royal family doesn´t?

I myself is split - on one hand it would be kind of "sweet" to see the king walking his daughter down the aile and it would look grand. BUT i agree that is sends the wrong signal - that the father hand over his daughter to her husband as a property - that´s how it´s percieved imo. I think i would prefer them walking down the aile together - just as the swedish tration says.

^^
And I think it's even more controversial in this case as she is the one that is going to be the queen, so walking the aisle with her father to give her to Daniel can mean that they are also handing the power to Daniel. I'm not sure if I have explained myself clearly :ermm:

Yes, I think that has a big part in it.
The thing is that CP is so normal as a girl that for her it's just her father whom she adores. To everyone else and especially priests, he is the king so they don't see it as she does.
I don't care personally.

The wedding book look gorgeous! It says that the book will be out August 19. I'll be getting that for sure.
I haven't been a royalist or a fan until recently, even if I've always admired Victoria and the royal family.
I really can't wait for this wedding to start! What a week it will be and then the wedding day. :)

I see what you mean. It's a tradition in the US and other places to have the father escort the bride down the aisle. Sometimes, if the father is unvailable, a brother, cousin or even their mom could excort them down the aisle. I am very used to this! Maybe the King could walk her halfway and then Daniel could take over the other half. I've seen that happen.

I don't perceive it as the father is handing over his property, it's like the father is saying "I give my daughter to you now. To be by her side and live this life with her". I understand it's perceived like she's a property, but it shouldn't be that way.

This could put Victoria in a bad spot since this is tradition and a royal wedding nonetheless. If she will be perceived as property, then she should very well do it the traditional way. But I would love to see the King escort her down the aisle!

For me it is normal for a father to walk his daughter up the aisle. I can't imagine not having my father walking me up the aisle. And I think it would be lovely to see King Carl Gustaf walking his eldest child down the aisle. A very proud and emotional moment for them both.

However I understand that this is not traditional in Sweden. But why is it seen as handing over property I have never heard this idea before. To me it is just a gesture and a special moment between father and daughter.

I am very surprised by the Swedish tradition, that a bride isn´t escorted down the aisle by her father. I have never heard about this. Actually I thought it is common everywhere. However, if it is their tradition, then they should do like they are used to. But to understand the fact, that a bride is walked down the aisle by her father, like some display of gender discrimination, is a silliness, to put it mildly. The father acts there like her support and representative of her family, not an owner of his daughter. Grooms (at least in my country) go with their mums, and no one thinks they are their mothers´ property.

I certainly hope Victoria gets her wish of being escorted down the isle by her father. The Swedish church has never been concerned about womens rights. They are not involved in the discussions about how women are treated in rape cases and the police and courts view of the crime and hence the frightenly light sentences of the predator. Swedish women did not have full voting rights until 1920's so we are not looking at centuries of equal rights as mentioned in some articles.
The church does not object to a women taking her husbands name yet assign a dubious interpretation to the act of a father escorting a daughter down the isle.

Exactly. I thought it was done all over the world myself. Even in the US the grooms escort their moms to their seat, etc. I was surprised to hear that in Sweden the bride and groom walk the aisle together. Where is the enchantment and mystery in that? I'm not bashing tradition, but she is a princess, and if this is how she wants it then she should have it that way. Someone said in their post that it would mean the King is handing over his throne to Daniel if he gives Victoria away. I think that's nonsensical. The King is handing over his daugher, who was fully his for 32 years. Now he's giving her to her husband. I don't see it as giving away the kingly title. No way. I think everyone knows, including Daniel, where the throne stands. Definitely not in Daniels hands.
