So the couple has to do what the priest says or else? This is bulll. Nobody, not a priest or archbishop, would be telling me what to do. I think it's right for Victoria to have what she wants. She has to marry in Sweden, so suggesting she should do it elsewhere is wrong. Victoria works way too hard for the country. Give her some leeway.

Really? Then try to marry in a catholic wedding!
But really if all the brides have to follow the tradition why not her too?

Well the good thing is I'm Christian and not catholic;). But the question is "Do they all have to follow this tradition?" Like I said in a earlier post, Victoria summed it up well when she said

"- We have tried to seek an alliance between history and contemporary wedding day while still should feel personal, "says the Crown Princess

This is very confusing! On SVT:s site it says that the descission is made that the King will escort Victoria down the aile - but at expressen it says that they are still discussing it :bang: Can they quote Nina Eldh from her interview in tv4 sunday morning? - there she was a guest and said that discussions where taking place and that nothing was descided...

Anyway i think that as soon as the wedding is over they should fire her - she is definatly not good at her job

A good article and a links to other world (english-speaking) media on the issue of Victoria being escorted down the aisle by the King. Fathers Of The Bride: Tradition & Tensions Down The Aisle

It looks like it's happening. I'm not sure why people think this is sexist. It's a nice traditional which honors a father's work in raising a daughter. I think it's a loving gesture, not a comment on a woman's autonomy.

The article is quite good. I liked the point that, at the Swedish wedding, it is a King inducting the Crown Princess into another chapter of both the King's and the Crown Princess's monarchic path in life.

That should make it easier not to get hung up on the "giving away" ceremony...

Victoria and Daniel are planning for a long summer of love. After the wedding, they have no official duties for more than two months. They will have their honeymoon and move to the Haga Palace.

Herman Lindqvist says that the King and Daniel got to know each other pretty quickly. Victoria took him out for private family events at Drottningholm. Quite soon the king thought that Daniel is a good person, they get along just fine now. There is a misconception that the King had been against him all the time. It was before the king got to know Daniel he wondered where the relationship would really end.

I think the long time off is a good thing for them. I figure that from now on their "alone time" together will be more limited, so I'm glad they will enjoy a nice long time of relaxation after all the stress and hub-bub of the wedding.:flowers:

It's nice to have a 2-month honeymoon. Like Jackswife said, their alone time will be limited, so they're making the most of the time. I like the Bible days, when honeymoons were at least a year long:lol:.

I was reading somewhere (BilledBladet?) that Benny Anderson, former songwriter and member of ABBA, is writing a song for Victoria.
Maybe we can hope for a new version of something like this :innocent::

That would be fantastic if they had a member of ABBA write a song in honor of the wedding. That's so sweet.

I wonder if Victoria will be wearing her mother's veil as well as the Cameo tiara?

Apparently her little sister Madeleine isn't attending the pre wedding ceremonies. (Lysning in Swedish - Don't know the english word for this.)
Very poor decision of the princess IMO.

I thought catholics are christians too... Anyway, I belong to evangelical-lutheran church (like almost all my fellow citizens and the Swedes too), and in our church it is a proper thing to do as the priests say. They could say for example that you cannot have a certain song performed at the wedding (if it is not a religious song, usually) and you just have to live with it. With getting married elsewhere I didn't mean that one should leave the country, but there are other places than the church to get wed in. Of course, with Victoria that probably isn't possible, but normally one can go and have e.g. a civil wedding if church doesn't fill one's expectations!

Btw, in my country it is allowed to walk down the aisle with someone else than the groom... ;)

Gotta love it really, a Lutheran Archbishop complaining about how the couple walk to the altar in a Catholic built and Consecrated Cathedral. All we need now is for the Catholic Bishop of Stockholm to say he’s fine with it and we will have the perfect storm.... Just tell the Archbishop to built his own Cathedral if he wants to set the rules.

I just think the Church needs to relook at the areas that are important enough to make public statements about. In my view, this really is a non-issue, and one that the couple in question have to have a view on.

Of course, but I meant I'm Baptist Christian, not Catholic:).

I 'm glad it's final that the King will walk her down the aisle! This is thee wedding to see:D. I just hope Nina Eldh will not make a statement that they've changed their minds:lol:.

Whats the difference between the ordinary flag and Crown Princess Victorias flag?

where does this information come from? i think madeleine will surely attend the prewedding events of victoria.

concerning the events, i don't think they are enough for such a huge event! i was hoping for a week-long type of festivities... :)

Royal weddings usually only have 3-4 events surrounding them.
A week long celebration, then the wedding would be alot for the tax payer to fork out.
From what i've heard, she is unlikely to attend the events.

I didn't know Hello had dedicated it's own special "site" to the wedding.

where can we watch the wedding in English. also, can someone please tell me: will the concert in the day of the wedding and the banquet after the wedding be broadcast as well?

I didn't know there was a concert during the day of the wedding. :whistling:

svt.se have said they will be broadcasting from 8am untilll 1:00 am the following morning on the wedding day so 17 hours. They also said that it will be streamed on their website. They are also showing the gala from the concert hall the evening before etc. There are 20 tv companies which will be receiving live pictures but i have not seen a list of who these are mentioned anywhere yet.

It is everything but unlikely she will attend the events on June 17 and 18.
On June 17 a private BBQ party with tent and some artists is planned at Drottningholm and on June 18 the government is hosting a concert for the couple. So far it isn´t listed on royalcourt.se, but it is very likely all family members will attend.

What she most likely won´t attend is the wedding banns in church tomorrow and the receptions connected to the wedding banns on June 1 and 3 (a chance for organisations, groups etc. to give gifts and congratulate)
Wedding banns were read in church 3 Sundays before the wedding with the purpose of people having the chance to say, that bride and groom are already married to others or are siblings.
These days an official form has to get filled out for the authorities, but many keep the tradition of wedding banns for reasons of nostalgia
