I think it is lovely that they chose a name that they liked first (Estelle) and then paid tribute to her mother (Silvia) and his (Ewa). The only unknown is Mary, and I am sure we will probably know the root of this name in time.

Congratulations to the new family, Princess Estelle sounds nice. I am not sure on the name but no doubt the more it is heard, the more it will grow on me.

Can't wait to see her and see who her Godparents are.

Btw, she CAN already hold up with her firstname, because she is already a little star/shining star. She's the first born crownprincess ever in Sweden. If that's not reason enough for this firstname, what else should it be?

I was just not expecting Estelle as a first name, I guess I was thinking of more grand, royal sounding names. If I am completely honest I feel disappointed in the first name, love the following ones as it is lovely to use the mums names but Estelle does not make me think of Princess.

I love the second pic. Daniel can't stop his proud daddy grin.

Hihi, I thought exactly the same -- a super-happy and super-broad grin! But: he deserves it!

As well he can be! After all he made sure the throne is secure for another generation. And all Daddys love daughters.....

I wonder if the "Mary" is a clue that Crown Princess Mary will be a godparent? Hmm ...

Estelle? Oh wow, I'm really disappointed... She could have named her Michelle, Angelique or Chantal then, too. I'm part French myself and I love the names, but they sound tacky in other languages, IMO. And Queen Estelle of Sweden sounds odd. There are sooo many beautiful and regal sounding names in Swedish, why had it to be something like this? Oh well, the name will have to grow on me.

Brilliant photo, probably killing him being away from the newborn.

Excuse my ignorance but why are they all sitting there? All for the newborn?

Not liking the name FOR A ROYAL, sounds very celebrity and too fashionable. I would have hoped for at least one traditional name apart from the grandmothers' names. Rather disappointing.

I guess she will be known as Stella or something.

Someone's a fan of the Golden Girls....

In all seriousness, I love the name! I think it's lovely, very old fashioned (from a British point of view) but I think it has a regal quality to it. I know it hasn't been resoundingly popular but I like it.
