the gala dinner is not a engagement dinner its a yearly dinner for diplomats and some other officials

When the King was engaged the only ones who appeared on the photos for the gathering were members of both families. I do not remember any royals from other houses present at the festivities. Silvia was the exception back then and it took time for some other royals to accept her.
Of course things have changed in the meantime and the more commoners join the royal families the more democratic it will all become.
On those photos Victoria looks so happy! It is great to see her looking so good.

congratulations to victoria and daniel!!  i certainly didn't expect it either. this is great news. so many of us have been looking forward to the engagement of the crown princess for so long! i wish them the very best and can't wait to the wedding.
is the wedding to take place in 2010? such a long time to wait for it. :(

i just took a look at the royal forum calander to see what royal events has been at this date and there it was charles and diana engagement
and no i do not think it will tell us what will happen in the future

Oh,no!I didn't mean that!Of course,this isn't a sign for this couple's future.It's just that Diana was always elegant and glamorous and Victoria today was glowing as well!!I just liked it as a coincidence.

Oh how exciting! I'm happy for them. At first when I read the wedding would be in 2010 I was too excited to comprehend how far away that is. Then all of a sudden my excitement level came back down to a normal level and I realized that's more than a year away assuming they wait to marry during nice weather. Wonder why so far away.
Love her dress for the interview. I'm looking around for a picture of her ring. Haven't been able to see it yet.

I think that we will have next two year the next swedish engagements. In 2010 Prince Carl Philipp will get engaged and will marry in 2011 and 2011 Princess Madeleine will get engaged to Jonas Bergström and will marry in 2012.

there is good photos at the jewllery forum
they wanted a spring early summer wedding and this year was to fast
i also think they wanted daniel to get som prince training and take part at official events
TT also got a interview after the TV interview and they talked a bit about the day

About the wedding date: is there a possibility than another Royal wedding, not yet announced  , is already scheduled for 2009, so the Swedish Royal House prefer to wait until 2010 a bit for their own wedding?
