Would have been shocked if Estelle wasn't there, even if it hadn't been announced earlier. She has been every year since she was two. In 2013 it was cancelled due to the death of their beloved aunt Lilian so we don't know if Estelle would have attended that year. But great to see they brought out Oscar for it.

It was great to see the photos and videos, thank you to everyone who provided them for us.
Victoria looked lovely, she has such an infectious smile and little Estelle takes after her! I say this every time we see photos of him; but Oscar is such a clone of his older sister. He's super cute and it's sweet that he got a present too. I really like the idea of Name Day, it seems like a nice celebration.

Victoria was congratulated by The Victoria Battalion on her Name Day. Photos of the meeting.

The second Amphibious Battalion, who also goes by the name Victoria Battalion, gave a photo album to the Crown Princess.
- It's a tradition. Each year we fill the photo album with photos of the battalion's activities from the past year and then we leave it to the Crown Princess on her Name Day, says Lieutenant Colonel Fredrik Herlitz, the Battalion Commander.
The second Amphibious Battalion is a sea-going operational unit with the ability to operate on both land and water. The background to the name Victoria Battalion is based at The Fourth Amphibious Battalion which in 1994 received authorization to bear the same name as the Crown Princess. When the Fourth Amphibious Battalion later was closed down, The Second Amphibious Battalion could take the name and the tradition of the photo album goes on. Fredrik Herlitz himself began as a conscript at The Fourth Amphibious Battalion and closes the circle as the head of The Second Amphibious Battalion.
- We bear the name with pride, says Fredrik Herlitz.
At the meeting Lieutenant General Dennis Gyllensparre, Chief of Defence Staff of the Swedish Armed Forces gave flowers to the Crown Princess.

I put together a post about Victoria attending her Name Day through the years.

It appears she has attended in 1996, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, & 2017.

I think my favorite is the coat from 2007, but I so love seeing Estelle (and now Oscar) attend with Vickan.

I have previously posted this photo to this thread, it has been taken on 12th March 1995 at the Royal Palace courtyard. So I have always been thinking that it was taken on Victoria's Name Day celebration although the photo text doesn't say it.

It does have the same look as the others, so I would guess it was 1995! I wasn't sure if she would have done it since she was 18 yet, but it certainly could be.

Victoria walks around and greets everyone who has come. There are many tourists who have gathered to give her flowers. And she grants both in Swedish, German, Portuguese, and English.

Victoria always accepts people's congratulations on March 12th. But she does not seem to have received any courtship the family.

Princess Estelle was free from preschool to go to Te Deum - and to celebrate her mother's name day.
In a dark blue velvet hat, she charmed everyone, even a cat.
After Te Deum there was lunch. An intimate one with about 25 guests, mainly family but also some representatives of the official Sweden.
- Estelle sat silently between her parents and was very calm and sensible, says one of the guests.
The menu was completely Japanese.
Immediately after lunch it was the name day celebration of Crown Princess Victoria. Then Princess Estelle came out with Mom Victoria and Dad Daniel. In a dark blue velvet hat she stood listening to the music that was performed, and then she was with her mother for the whole celebration while Victoria received gifts.
- My helper is fixing this, said the Crown Princess when she received gifts that she then left over to Princess Estelle who helped her mother to carry.
Although it was Victoria that was the focus of the day, Princess Estelle charmed at least as many.
Even a cat, which came with someone from the public, became curious at Estelle. They stood looking at each other for a long time, and Estelle laughed happily when she saw the little cat.

So far no comments about that. It was rather cold in Stockholm and since Oscar didn't attend to Te Deum, they would probably have had to bring him a lot later to the Palace, otherwise the day would have become quite long for him. Maybe they just decided not to take him to the celebration today.

I was wondering where Prince Oscar was but given it looked like a very cold day he probably was kept indoors.

Sad to not see Oscar, but with the teu deum earlier, it would have been quite the long day for him. And pretty cold outside as well. Estelle was as charming as ever, never grow tired of seeing her.

The king, queen and Victoria's name days are flag days. When Victoria is queen, will Daniel and Estelle's be flag days? Estelle would be august 15, and Daniel (Olof) would be July 29. It would be lovely if the tradition of Victoria's name day being a big occasion in Stockholm, continued with Estelle (and birthday).

Loved the photos of the CP family at name day. Estelle's outfit was gorgeous and the photo of her with the cat was too cute! She seems to be a naturally sociable little girl as she has a shining personality. She'll be a great asset to the SRF in the near future.

Victoria and Daniel were chatting with the people. Victoria was very moved that so many people had come there to congratulate her. She also recognized many of them, she said "nice to see you again this year too". Estelle said that it felt good to celebrate her mother's birthday. She helped Victoria with gifts, Oscar got at least one toy as a gift.

And Victoria got a spettekaka today too, she gets always one on her birthday at Solliden.

The Armed Forces wants to celebrate the Crown Princess, the Heir to the throne.
The Armed Forces celebrates Crown Princess Victoria on her Name Day in Stockholm. The Armed Forces don't take part at the Crown Princess's birthday celebration in Öland in July, so the Name Day is a kind of birthday celebration by the Armed Forces, and every year a Military Band, The Salute Troop and The Guard of Honor takes part in this celebration.

Estelle helped mom celebrate the Name Day at the Palace
The Crown Princess Victoria was courted by both the public and the closest family on her name day.
Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar obviously wanted to congratulate her mother.
Estelle also helped to receive packages and flowers and to answer the press's questions.
"It feels good", said Estelle.
- The attendance was very well at lunchtime so Princess Estelle got away from school for a while to be able to participate, says Margareta Thorgren.
Even this, parts of the public interested in royals had come to the Palace and the crown princess got hugs and presents from both large and small.
With out in the courtyard were the whole family, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle and Little Prince Oscar. Estelle helped mom receive flowers and packages and also spontaneously answered questions from the public and the media. A TV journalist asked how it feels to celebrate Mom.
- It feels good, answered Princess Estelle, 7.
That the princess answers questions from the press does not yet belong to the ordinary. But she looked to handle it calmly. Is Princess Estelle even already trained for the media?
- The Crown Princess couple are very aware, and the Crown Princess has her own experience, so therefore they are attentive to the media and the children and how to handle it, replies Margareta Thorgren.
Little Prince Oscar, 3, who is not yet used to the fuss and media coverage, was a little in the background with Dad Prince Daniel.
The Crown Princess Victoria ended the courtesy of thanking everyone who came. In two languages, Swedish and German.

Victoria was congratulated by The Victoria Battalion on her Name Day. The second Amphibious Battalion, which also goes by the name Victoria Battalion, gives traditionally a photo album to the Crown Princess on her Name Day.
"We wish big congratulations on the name day to HRH Crown Princess Victoria!
As the tradition, the head of the Victoria Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Patrik Berge, was at Stockholm Palace to hand over a photo album from the battalion.
This year we had filled the album with pictures from both royal visits and exercises in Kapellskär harbor. Through the album we want to show the Crown Princess what her battalion was doing during the year. We are proud to carry the Crown Princess's name, and cherish it tenderly."

On Tuesday, March 12, the Swedish Armed Forces congratulated the Crown Princess on the name day at the Royal Palace's inner courtyard.
Since the early 1990s, the Swedish Armed Forces have celebrated the Crown Princess's name day at the Royal Palace's inner courtyard. When the Crown Princess's birthday is normally celebrated on Öland, the name day is the annual celebration of the Crown Princess in the capital.
At today's ceremony took part The Salute Troop from the Life Guards, The Guard of Honor from the South Scania Regiment and The Royal Swedish Army Band.
The congratulation of the Crown Princess began with a tribute concert by The Royal Swedish Army Band. At first they played Kronprinsessan Victorias festmarsch, composed by Mats Janhagen and premiered at the Crown Princess's 18th birthday in 1995. Furthermore were played Wilhelm Peterson-Berger's Gratulation and Svensk militärmarsch by Oswald Brodin.
The concert ended with Med en enkel tulipan followed by the Victoria Fanfare and with three cheers for the Crown Princess.
The celebration at the inner courtyard ended with the Crown Princess family meeting and greeting all those who had come to the courtyard.

Great photos and videos; and it was also interesting to read about the significance of name days in Sweden (I had always wondered why Victoria's name day was such a large celebration). Lovely to see Estelle and Oscar there and I love Estelle's gorgeous pink coat. She's the spitting image of Victoria! Oscar seemed less than pleased to be at the event however :lol:

They all take the dais and they all do the circuit although Oscar is back a little because I think he still finds it overwhelming however Estelle is definitely her mother's daughter handling everything like a seasoned trooper. And Oscar has the cutest little grumpy face I have seen for a while. :lol:

For all it is Spring, it seemed very cold and that makes it even more amazing when so many people still turn out. As usual, the CP Couple and their children have this sweet colour coordination going on with Victoria in dusky red, Estelle in pink and Daniel and Oscar doing their blue thing.

There's the traditional band, the traditional surreptitious bobbing to the music, all the gifts of flowers. I love that even school classes come and that some things have become de facto tradition such as that humongous, spettkaka and a hello the FinnJasper the cat in a basket (sort of like people bring their dogs to say hello to Camilla).

Cant believe I almost missed it. Forgot it was in March.

I love seeing the entire little family out together. Oscar is definitely a little shy, definitely not like his sister. Even at three Estelle was far more seasoned. ? But he did well and he is getting easier. Good practice I always think that they introduce the kids so young.

Prince Oscar is far more shy than his sister - a bit like Princess Charlotte and her brother Prince George. Charlotte will wave and smile, whereas George needs a little more convincing.

CP Victoria and Prince Daniel always look thrilled and engaged when they mingle with the general public. They are so natural!
