I think we are here all anxious to hear news about new prince or princess birth, names and then christening date. I believe that new baby will be a March baby, but I just did the math and ascertained that Estelle was born only a day after Daniel and Victoria's engagement anniversary, which is just beautiful detail. It is better not to be born on 29th February, but who have a say against mother nature? But is it better that Estelle and new sibling won't share the same birthday. Just my opinion about dates of birth. Only some more days are waiting ...

Yes absolutely- the 29th would be a bad birthday!

I hope that the baby will not be born today - let this be swedish Alicia Vikander's day with her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Expressen has a video filmed of Victoria by Patrik C Österberg at the Global Change Award on 10th February, and you can see the baby kicking, just like Estelle was kicking at Nobel Prize Ceremony in 2011.

My heart had a leap when I saw that new posts had been written in this thread. I saw that "Royal birth announcements" thread was updated as well and I finally thought the baby was here. I sincerely hope it doesn't come today. From tomorrow the baby can come ifhe/she feels like it ;-D

I don't feel it will be born today
Maybe the weekend or next week?

But also thread about Archduke Carl-Christian of Austria and his family was updated, so I guessed at once that it's Imre & Kathleen's baby who is already watching this world, not Victoria & Daniel's.

True. It's just that I don't personally follow that family and my thought went immediately to Victoria:flowers:

I kind of thought it would be cool if she had a royal leap year baby :) but unless she snuck into the hospital without anyone seeing, we are looking at a March baby now. Unless she goes in soon and has a quick labor :flowers: Tomorrow is a week after Estelle's birthday, or Wednesday on a non leap year. At least the baby has some separation from his/her sister especially when Estelle is crown princess. Hard enough having close birthdays when your sibling is not the future queen.

I think it's safe to say the baby will arrive in March. The baby will probably be here this week, I doubt the birth it's after this following weekend. So now it's a countdown. I'm excited!

If Victoria is at the hospital now i hope that she'll held her/him back for 30 minutes more til we have March 1 in Sweden :-D Haha

I saw at the Royal Court Website that Victorias usual name day celebration on March 12 is cancelled due to the expected birth so i guess they are expecting her/him this week or next :)

My level of excitement for Victoria's baby is the same as when my own young relatives were born, haha. I will be checking this thread more regularly now that you have mentioned about Victoria's name day. :)

I think it's pretty safe to say that Victoria won't be giving birth today, since it's 11:46 in Sweden right now and if she were in labour I would imagine that we would know at this point.

Officially March in Sweden so let the official March watch start :flowers:

So excited to hear gender/name/title of this little one. And photos, especially one with baby and Estelle together:)

If expected this week, the official announcement of last September would have said: Expected for the beginning of March 2016.
It clearly says Expected in March

:ermm: Little confused. This week is March right??? Yes it clearly says 'in March", not mid March, not late March, simply March. Which doesn't rule out the start of March. Estelle was said to have been due in March and was born in February. Considering how much Victoria was showing when her pregnancy was announced, has led to speculation she is due closer to the start.

It's officially March in Sweden now? So Stork Watch has began. Since Estelle was born in the middle of the night will the media try to camp out at the local hospitals?

Yes, it is about 4:45 in the morning in Stockholm. They are 8 hours ahead of me (I am mountain standard time).

Please not the Cambridge madness
They could have to wait longer than expected and the weather is rather cold in Sweden in March

As you know, a baby can perfectly well be born two weeks after due date.

But for Estelle it ewas also announced expectged it in March and we all know when she was born.

But we all know that babies can come earlier. If Estelle's due date was at the first days of March, she came about a week earlier.
And Johan T Lindwall wrote at his book "Victoria - Prinsessa och mamma", that only the closest circle of Victoria and Daniel knew that the due date was at the Leap Day.

About this baby: At this Johan T Lindwall's interview with Victoria in Peru in October Lindwall says "You are estimated in February and Carl Philip and Sofia are estimated in April" and Victoria corrects "they are estimated in April and we are estimated at the beginning of March" ("vi är beräknad i början av Mars")

Btw. queen Silvia doesn't have any work events at her calendar in the whole March now (the next event is on 5th April), and Svensk Damtidning claims that she wants to help Victoria with the new baby and Estelle.

If due date was the Leap Day it would be perfectly normal that the baby can come between now and March 13th
Due date+ 2 weeks is perfectly normal.
My daughter is a midwife and she has the impression that more and more babies tend to come one or two weeks after due date.

Actually it is normal to have babies - 2 to + 2 weeks from due date. If I remember correctly, about 2/3 have tendency to carry full time or longer and 1/3 shorter. To some families it can be even - 4 and still all babies are not premature. Due date is just estimate.

Estimation today is quite precise, due to the use of 3D ultrasound scans but it seems that a pregnancy is rather 40 weeks +, nowadays

Victoria and Daniel will probably be escorted inside through an underground ambulance intake so the media won't likely notice anything.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Royal Court will try the same procedure they did with Madeleine during the birth of Prince Nicholas and that we won't know anything until the baby is born

Actually also 3D can give +/- 7 days mistake of how far pregnancy is. And as I said earlier, some families have tendency to carry much less than 40 weeks, my family is such. Even if you know day of fertilization, there can be 37 days variation of actual birth date.

If you do not believe me, here is research of this subject http://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2013/08/06/humrep.det297

I really hope they can manage it that way
I never understood all that people around St Mary's there in London, waiting along for nearly two weeks

The pregnancy with Estelle was announced Aug 17'th, 2011. Estelle was born on Feb 23'rd, 2012.
This pregnancy was announced Sept 4'th, 2015. We'll see when the next baby arrives, but if we assume that they were both announced around 12 weeks.. is there anyone here who is good at pregnancy math? I'm not :)

The due date can only be calculated approximately, but I think that Estelle was due at the turning of the month, and that is around end of february/ beginning of March.) This baby seems to be due in early March. I still think Victoria won't get past March 10th.

The September 4th 2015 announcement is 19 days after August 17th
Let's say both babies were in the same stage of development at the official announcement and let's say that they develop more or less in the same way, the birth can be expected around March 12th, 19 days after Estelle's birthday. Indeed a March birth as the official announcement said

It will be interesting to see wether the christening will take place in the Royal Palace Church and be on the same scale as Estelle's christening or if it will be a smaller ceremony in Drottningholm or maybe in Solna Church close to Haga Palace where Princess Birgitta, Princess Desirée and Princess Christina was baptised.

But first, we should hope and pray that everything goes well !

Any time between March 1st and March 31 is indeed a March birth. March 13th is no more a 'March birth' then March 2nd is.

As for the christening, it should be smaller than Estelle's as this baby is not the future heir. But I would suspect it will still be larger than Leo and Nico's, with some foreign royals involved. I don't see them using a smaller church like with the Haga princesses. Unlike Vic's Aunts, who while the daughters of the Crown prince and princess were not in line for the throne, this baby will one day be second in line. Leo and Nico who are much further from the throne then this baby were baptized at Drottingham. If not at Stockholm palace, I think Drottingham.
