A little bit-off topic, but I admire how Queen Máxima, Queen Mathilde, CP Mary, CP Victoria, and, to some extent, also Queen Letizia are involved with UN agencies and other international organizations. I wonder why the British royal ladies like Camilla and Catherine do not play the same role on the international stage and focus instead only on the BRF's patronages within the UK or, more rarely, some Commonwealth realms.

EXCLUSIVE: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden seen exiting the United Nations Headquarters in New York City

The swedish Minister for Health Care, Public Health and Sport, Gabriel Wikström told to Expressen about his discussion with Victoria at high-level meeting "Antimicrobiological resistance". Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon attended also at the meeting.
Victoria was in place a good time before the meeting began, read through the papers and made notes. She sat along minister Gabriel Wikström and took the opportunity to ask several questions from him.
According to Wikström situation is very serious - which he also talked about with the crown princess.
- This can be compared with the climate threat - the question came up among the experts several years ago but it is only when it landed with the highest political leaders that something might happen. Sweden has been on for the query to get it to a higher status.
The forecast now is that if nothing is done, resistant bacteria kills 10 million people each year - more than cancer - and costs 100 trillion.
The serious situation has also made Victoria worried, says Wikström.
- She is very committed to this and I'm very happy that she chose to attend the meeting and thus show the importance of the issue. She asked that we speak further about this when we get home. She would like to have more information both about what is done at home and internationally. As the future head of state she wants obviously know as much as possible on one of our future major critical issues and I can not over exaggerate the importance of this issue, says Gabriel Wikström.

Secretary-General Urges SDG Advocacy Group to Continue Promoting Universality, Indivisibility, Interdependence of Goals
Thank you for accepting my invitation to attend the seventy-first session of the General Assembly. Your attendance and participation are important for raising awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sending a strong message about the world’s commitment to achieving them.
I also thank you for your participation in the SDG Moment on Tuesday, prior to the opening of the General Assembly. The presentation and your creative engagement were very well-received. I hope the SDG Moment will inspire and serve as a model for similar presentations in the future. We want to ensure the SDGs are held up as a beacon for all future General Assembly sessions until the year 2030.
The fact that you have come to the General Assembly and are participating in numerous events demonstrates your strong personal commitment to the SDGs. As Advocates, I am relying on you to continue to promote the universality, indivisibility and interdependence of the SDGs, and commitment to leave no one behind.
I have been impressed by your activities since the Group’s launch in Davos. I commend you all for your engagement in many events since then, as well as your engagement with business leaders, and the numerous opinion pieces you have authored.
I thank you for your contributions to SDG outreach, and hope you will continue to offer the same support and effort to my successor.

Victoria met the other Sustainable Development Goal Advocates who attended at the General Assembly on Thursday at a meeting with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Victoria's thoughts at court Instagram with a photo from the meeting
"As always, it is very rewarding and inspiring to attend the United Nations General Assembly week in New York City. In my meetings with the other ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals I specifically raised questions concerning water and health, the two goals which I will follow with particular attention. The UN's global sustainability goals concern us all. To manage to meet the goals requires not only high pace, but also the need for all parts of society to get involved. Sweden will probably be one of the countries that will meet the goals quickly, but there remains a lot of work for us as well."

From Svensk Damtidning's article about Victoria's four days at the United Nations General Assembly:
Before attending at the General Assembly, Victoria visited the Capsule Show and chatted with the swedish exhibitors. Victoria met also her friend Peter Forsberg and his partner Nicole Nordin, who were there to launch their shoe collection for Inuikii.
Victoria attended at the opening of the Assembly, sat at the first row, heard president Obama's speech and Andrea Bocelli singing "Nessun Dorma". Victoria stood up and applauded.
Jan Eliasson, the Deputy Secretary-General of United Nations, told to Svensk Damtidning that he was happy that the crown princess was there. Eliasson said that they at the UN appreciate her strong commitment to international matters and that she uses her name and position to mobilise support for the new sustainable development objectives.
Prime minister Stefan Löfven launched his Global Deal and Victoria sat at the first row. Löfven said to Svensk Damtidning that Victoria told it was very interesting and he is very happy that Victoria was there, it means a lot when the crown princess shows her interest.
Victoria attended also at a reception at the consul general's residence at 600 Park Avenue. Prime minister Stefan Löfven and ambassador Olof Skoog, the Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations and members of business life attended. Also Björn Lyrvall, the Ambassador of Sweden to the United States attended and said that it is fantastic to see how big the interest is towards Sweden. The Crown Princess does a wonderful work to promote Sweden and lift up important issues.

Victoria meets on Friday professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 2006, who is also an UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocate like Victoria.
Victoria and professor Yunus attended both at UN General Assembly in September and Victoria invited Yunus to the Swedish UN mission headquarters for a meeting. They discussed about the proposal presented by Yunus at the SDG group meeting. Yunus briefed Victoria about social business and its potential in addressing pressing global challenges like poverty, unemployment and climate issues. They talked about the possibility of launching social business initiatives in Sweden.

While in Sweden, professor Yunus takes also part at Nobel Week Dialogue tomorrow and attends at the Nobel Prize Ceremony on Saturday.

While it has looked that Victoria hasn't had a lot of work events in November, and the swedish press widely told about hers and her family's holiday on the Maldives, Victoria combined her work trip with a family holiday, she was a patron of a three day long dialogue event.

International seafood business commits to stronger sustainability efforts

Eight of the world’s largest seafood companies have issued a ten-point statement committing to action on ocean stewardship following the first “keystone dialogue” between scientists and business leaders.
The companies commit to improving transparency and traceability and reducing illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in their supply chains. Antibiotic use in aquaculture, greenhouse gas emissions and plastic pollution will also be prioritized. The seafood businesses commit to eliminating any products in their supply chains that may have been obtained through “modern slavery including forced, bonded and child labour”.
The dialogue, initiated by the Stockholm Resilience Centre, took place 11-13 November at the Soneva Fushi Resort on the Maldives under the patronage of HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden – Advocate for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

More about the Soneva Dialogue, a photo of Victoria speaking
The Soneva Dialogue was the first keystone dialogue. This Stockholm Resilience Centre event was supported by Forum for the Future (FFTF) and the Soneva Foundation. The Walton Family Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation provided funding for the event. HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden acted as Patron for the Soneva Dialogue, which was generously hosted by Sonu and Eva Shivdasani, at their Soneva Fushi resort in the Maldives.
Follow up meeting
A follow-up meeting will take place in Stockholm, Sweden in 2017. The ambition is that the joint effort and leadership by these keystone actors will influence the industry sector as a whole and shape future policies related to more sustainable seafood production.

The court has just published Victoria's speech at the Soneva Dialogue, 12th November, on the Maldives.

... One of my strongest childhood memories is going fishing with my father. We would sit there in our small boat, on the beautiful Baltic Sea, catching one fish after another. And then we would bring our catch home for dinner, and my father would proudly smoke the fish himself under my intense supervision.
Today, if I take my children fishing, I’m not sure we’ll catch anything at all. Of the world’s ten largest areas of dead seabed, seven are located in the Baltic Sea. My sea.
Also, if we are lucky enough to catch some fish, it is likely to be contaminated with dioxins and other pollutants. In Sweden, children and women of childbearing age are advised to limit their consumption of fatty Baltic Sea fish to no more than two or three times a year! For me, that information is very hard to grasp.
The facts are frightening. But, they are not visible. The sight of the glittering sea is as stunning as ever. Just like here.
But the beautiful surface is not telling the truth ...

... I am honored to have been appointed by the United Nations’ Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as an Advocate to promote the global sustainable development goals. And I am keen to involve you, as change makers, in the process of reaching those goals.
Looking around this room, I am filled with hope. This is the first time that leaders of the industry have gathered in this way. That in itself is an important step.
But let me be frank: I am asking for more than your presence. I am asking for your active participation, your commitment to the process and your determination to follow through.
Right now, we are at a critical crossroads: Are we going to be the last generation to experience marine biodiversity as we know it? Ultimately giving rise to war and conflict over resources too scarce to feed the Planet’s growing population. Or, are we going to be the first generation to ensure the survival of today’s endangered species, as well as our ability to provide everyone with enough food? To a large extent, this choice will be made by you, the individuals in this room ...

The court has finally spoken about Victoria's working trip to Soneva Dialogue on the Maldives. The news of the Dialogue were published at press releases a couple of weeks ago.

Victoria's "luxury trip" was a work trip

Crown Princess Victoria's trip to the Maldives was kept top secret and only a few knew what she was doing there.
What was called "luxury trip" was in fact a work trip - which led to a historic fishing agreement.
- Victoria had an absolutely key role, says Henrik Österblom, deputy research director.

When Crown Princess Victoria traveled to luxury resort Soneva Fushi on the Maldives in November everyone thought that she was taking a well deserved break. Svensk Damtidning reported that she, along with Prince Daniel and their children went there to a luxury vacation and the news were quoted by several media, including Expressen.
But now the court reveals what Crown Princess Victoria actually did on the Maldives - and why the trip was kept secret.
- It was the wish of the organizers who didn't want it to be communicated in advance, said the director of the press department, Margareta Thorgren.

Henrik Österblom, deputy research director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre, took part at the trip. He says that the trip was kept secret because the talks were very sensitive. Eight largest fishing companies in the world met to discuss how they can work more sustainably. Crown Princess Victoria was the patron of the talks.
- Crown Princess Victoria had an absolute key role in getting these companies to sign a unique statement in which eight of the world's largest companies pledged to take on a leading role in sustainability issues, he says.
Victoria is one of the UN ambassadors of the global sustainability goals, which was crucial for her role in the talks.
- In May, we will meet with the companies in Stockholm and specify the actions to be taken.
What was Victoria's involvement in the talks?
- She gave the opening speech and put pressure on everyone and told about her expectations for the meeting. I think everyone felt that they had to deliver to earn her respect. She was with us all the time, at dinners and lunches and all activities. The Crown Princess had an important confidence-building function.

Great to see her taking such son imports step in her role with the UN. Talks like this, and hopefully the work that follows, is key to sustaining what is left. :flowers:

Jonathon Porritt, Co-Founder of Forum for the Future, is an eminent writer, broadcaster and commentator on sustainable development. He writes at his blog about the Dialogue at Soneva Fushi. He hosted the Dialogue.

"I think what they’ve done is amazing – but what helped make that possible was everything else: a brilliant location; the total integrity and authority of the SRC’s scientific endeavours; a Patron (in Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden) who inspired everyone with her own passion and hard work; some wonderful additional experts providing their own insights; and extraordinary reserves of goodwill on the part of all involved as we started to take account of the incredible significance of what we were planning."

Baltic Sea Future will address the challenges in the Baltic Sea region, focusing on the key role of municipalities. The Baltic Sea is loved, needed and polluted, and municipalities are the hubs who can coordinate interests, engage local citizens, turn scientific results into action, and handle the challenges to create a sustainable future for the Baltic Sea.
At Baltic Sea Future key stakeholders from the Baltic Sea countries will gather to share knowledge, motivation, best practices and tools. They will be inspired by municipalities that have succeeded, scientists who know what is needed, companies providing innovations and techniques that can do it, and agencies that can help them reach their vision.
The founders of the event are the Stockholm University, the City of Stockholm and the Sustainable Seas Foundation.
