The trip aims to deepen the Crown Princess's work in sustainability, marine and fisheries issues - issues that the Crown Princess as an ambassador for the UN global sustainability goals has chosen to focus particularly in.
The Crown Princess began her visit in Tokyo with a lunch with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko.
At the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo was then held a meeting of Japan's efforts on sustainability issues.
The day ended with a reception at the Swedish Embassy for Japanese fishing companies and fisheries experts. The meeting was a follow up of Soneva Dialogue, held in the Maldives in November 2016, where multinational companies in the fisheries and aquaculture took part along with leading scientists from both Europe, North America and Asia.
During the reception the Crown Princess held a speech and said:
"In November, leaders of the global seafood industry held a dialogue meeting – the Soneva Dialogue – to discuss risks and opportunities connected to the state of our oceans. Some of you were there. And so was I.
The Dialogue resulted in a joint statement. The keystone actors have identified a number of areas that they will address together in order to contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This is a major step forward! Moving from words to action.

For decades and centuries, your companies have been pioneers of the sea. I urge you now to grasp the opportunity to maintain that leadership."

The Crown Princess concluded her speech by welcoming everyone to the next Keystone Dialogue, held in Stockholm in May.

Expressen tells at their article (with a video), that Victoria visited AEON Store which is working hard with sustainability. AEON has as a goal to have in 2020 ten percent sustainably produced fish at their stores. Victoria got a briefing about the company and it's work. And then before she continued her visit, she looked at chopsticks and got as a gift a pair of japanese chopsticks in children's size to Estelle and Oscar. Then Victoria said: They are on a basic level. And then some to us on a more advanced level, she ordered chopsticks for adults.
- The crown princess wanted to see how a big merchandise trade works with sustainability and how they get their customers to understand the importance of sustainability. It was a very interesting visit, says Ulrika Näsholm, information officer at the court.

The Crown Princess's second day in Tokyo began with a visit to an Aeon supermarket.
Aeon is Japan's leading retail group that runs the malls, department stores, supermarkets and pharmacies. The company is one of Japan's key players in terms of sustainable fishing and they work actively to integrate sustainability considerations into its purchasing policy for including seafood.
In the afternoon, the Crown Princess took part in a seminar on the UN global sustainability organized by the UN University. The theme of the seminar was to promote the UN's global sustainable development goals with special focus on sustainable seas.
The Crown Princess opened the seminar and said:
"Fish is the largest source of animal protein in the world. But almost 60 percent of all stocks are already fully fished. 30 percent are even overfished.
Let there be no doubt: the situation is urgent!
The figures can be overwhelming. But let us remember: together, we have a superpower. The power of consumer demand. The choices we make in our everyday lives have enormous impact on the future of our planet.
As consumers, we have a right to know and an obligation to ask. We need to let producers know that we want the right choice to be the easy choice. So please, let us make use of that superpower! Today and every day."
Then were held discussions on the global goals, how young people can be inspired to contribute in achieving the goals and the state of the oceans.
The Crown Princess's day ended with a dinner with Princess Takamado of Japan.

Dag Hammarskjöld spoke about working on the brink of the unknown. Today, just like then, we have more questions than we have answers about the future.
Will we be able to limit global warming to two degrees Celsius? Will we succeed in our efforts to end poverty and hunger?
And will future generations thank us for what we did, or blame us for not doing more?
The truth is, we don’t know.
But we do know that Dag Hammarskjöld was right:
We all have a moral obligation to act in accordance with our best understanding.
And right now, that means doing everything we can to achieve the Sustainable Development Agenda.
This is not only our obligation;
it is our only option.

According to the swedish press, princess Takamado and queen Silvia are good friends.

Princess Takamado hosted a festive evening for Crown Princess Victoria. She stood and waited on the steps to the spectacular restaurant, located right next to Tokyo Tower. When photographers wanted to take a photo of Princess Takamado, a severe response from the Japanese court was: forbidden.
When Crown Princess Victoria arrived Princess Takamado softened and posed happily in front of the photographers after having politely given kisses on the cheek with Victoria.
Princess Takamado is often described in the Japanese media as a happy party princess who, despite her age of 63, often takes the chance to go on festive occasions - but also perform official duties and represent Japan abroad.
- She is very social and attends often in various events. She takes every opportunity to speak to the people and is very popular, says a Japanese reporter.
It was a very intimate dinner to which Princess Takamado invited Crown Princess Victoria. A private dinner between the two in a separate part of the luxury restaurant Tofuya Ukai. The restaurant is known for its tofu. It is located in central Tokyo and is decorated in classic old Japanese way.

Aftonbladet's royal expert Jenny Alexandersson writes at her blog about Victoria wearing her mother's dress from 1980.
That is a real statement dress. Talking about sustainability and to challenge the world's most powerful fishery companies to take care of the seas - of course Victoria does that in a "sustainable creation".
The clothes of the princesses should not only be seen as a superficial distraction, royal fashion is much more than that. They tell something about the wearer and Victoria signals the seriousness of her speech by re-using her mother's dress.

Restaurant Tofuya, as the name suggests, is famous for its good tofu and the dishes were of course served at Victoria's visit.
- The food was delicious! I have eaten tofu before, but never in so many different forms, she said after dinner.

The court about the third day:
During the Thursday morning, the Crown Princess visited the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo, the largest fish and shellfish retail market in the world.
The morning continued at Sweden's Embassy. There the Crown Princess met the winners of the video competition organized by the Swedish Embassy. The competition was primarily for young people and teachers and the subject was the UN's Global Sustainable Development Goal No. 14. Even the human robot, Pepper, attended the meeting at the embassy.
After lunch, the Crown Princess visited Hama Rikyu Gardens, a traditional Japanese garden and public park, surrounded by a moat filled with sea water from the Gulf of Tokyo.
In the afternoon, the Crown Princess attended at the Swedish Embassy's seminar Doing Sustainable Business the Swedish Way. Swedish companies told about how they work with CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and then followed a panel discussion between Swedish and Japanese companies.
The day ended with a reception at the Swedish residence for seminar participants and representatives of Swedish business in Japan.

Victoria's environmental appeal: "It is our duty"
Marine and fisheries issues, those are questions close to Crown Princess Victoria's heart.
For most, it doesn't make it the most engaging topic, but when Victoria speaks, it's hard not to feel anything but commitment.
- I am worried. The more you learn, the more worried you become. I have the privilege of meeting many knowledgeable people and listening to what we actually know about what's happening to our nature and our ocean - I can't be anything but engaged, she says.
The commitment is in the form of a fishing agreement, Victoria was one of the key people in the processs of developing it. In November she was on the Maldives where the world's eight largest fish companies met to talk about how to work more sustainable. The conversations lead into something unique: Eight of the world's fishing giants signed a statement to take on leadership in sustainability issues. Among other things, by reducing antibiotic use in fish farms and reducing CO2 emissions in general.
- It is a big challenge to get these companies to feel committed and that they can influence. This is like a follow-up meeting after the Maldives, to keep the players warm. They will feel that they get support and that they can convince others in their businesses that this is important. Then we have another meeting in Stockholm where they are invited.
On Tuesday Victoria got happy news. Quite unexpectedly, another fishing company signed for the statement. You can see Victoria's joy about this.
- I'm extremely happy. It's all about everyone's need. Every new player who writes implies a strength and an opportunity for positive change. We don't only need these fishing companies but all the players who can move in the right direction. But it was great fun that they wrote on, really.
How can you as a private individual in a small way to influence companies for a sustainability boost?
- We consumers have a huge responsibility. You can take it to yourself, to your family, your area of ​​residence, school or workplace. We need all the helper. But unfortunately, it is quite complicated to make sustainable choices as consumers. But it doesn't have to be it. I'm trying to talk to make it easy to do the right thing. You shouldn't have to doctorate in the field to make the right choice. There are easy ways to do the right thing.
Now I'm curious, like what?
- Ask questions! Whether in the fish counter, at the restaurant or when shopping for clothes, ask questions. Someone asking the question and wanting to know puts pressure on companies to think about sustainability. It is our right as consumers - but it is also our duty, in fact, says Victoria
The trip is a study trip with a focus on sea and fishing issues. But why Japan for a Swedish princess who cares of the Baltic Sea?
- If we get Japanese companies, which are leading ones, to change their approach it could mean a huge change for the major fish stocks in the world. Japanese fishing companies are very big. We hope that they will improve, but then we must make them dare to take that step.

Crown Princess Victoria visited company Meiho's Fish Factory in Sendai, about two hours away from Tokyo. Meiho is one of Japan's leading fish producers and has worked extensively with the MCR Eco-label in its production and is MCR-certified.
Crown Princess Victoria was given a chance to ask questions about the work and she was interested in how they feel that one can convince more Swedish companies to work with MCR and sustainability.
After a conversation with management, the Crown Princess visited the fish factory in the company's premises.
Inside the factory, Victoria watched the different steps in the work with the fish. Among other things, the fish was sewed and cut, something Victoria observed carefully.
During the tour it was loud, cold and hot when Victoria chopped between freezing rooms at a temperature of minus 50 degrees and a warming room with a significantly higher temperature. But she took it easy - and used the tour as a chance to learn more about the Japanese fishing company's work on sustainability.

Victoria gave an interview also to Svensk Damtidning's Ellen Myrgård Lindén, who has also followed the visit in Japan.
Victoria has repeatedly told how the royal couple used to come home from their travels and tell them about everything they experienced. Victoria makes now the same to her own children, and in one way it becomes an introduction to the role of Sweden's representative.
- I think my parents did it very well and pedagogically. They talked on their visits and also talked about the importance of bringing up Sweden, Swedish values, Swedish research and technology. In this way, it becomes a natural approach to what the role as such means, but also what it is possible to assist with.
Five-year-old Estelle is already aware that the work of the Crown Princess is important. Victoria is one of the most important voices in raising questions about the development of the Baltic Sea, and in a speech at UN University, the Crown Princess told us that the commitment comes from her living all her life close to the Baltic Sea, which is now one of the world's most polluted seas.
- Estelle knows I'm here talking about fish, and then we talk about Japan, fishing issues, nature and ecology, and how things are all together. She's five years old, but she's not too young. On the contrary, she is very interested and receptive. I think we have an obligation as parents and adults to stimulate that curiosity.
The Crown Princess was appointed in January 2016 to one of the UN's 16 ambassadors for the global sustainable development goals in Agenda 2030. During her visit she stated that it was an offer she could not refuse.
- We are a small part in a large context, but we can unfortunately influence a little too much in our environment and then we have to take that responsibility.

About the last day they tell: On Friday morning, the Crown Princess went to Shiogama, in northeastern Japan, to visit Meiho Tuna Fishery. Shiogama is one of Japan's most important fishing villages and a large part of the tuna fished off the east coast of the country comes ashore here. Meiho Tuna Fishery is the first fishing company in the Tohoku region, which has become the MSC Certified (Marine Stewardship Council). During the visit, the Crown Princess learned about the company's work on sustainable fishing.
Tohoku region was hit by earthquake and tsunami 2011.
The Crown Princess rounded the day in Shiogama by visiting a Shinto Shrine. Shinto is a native Japanese religion and the name means "The Way of the Gods".

The Crown Princess: "I've Got a Great Man"
15.35 Monday: Kastrup Airport, Copenhagen. "Ladies, gentlemen, Your Royal Highness". The captain aboard the flight, which in 10 minutes takes us to Narita International Airport, welcomes passengers, and perhaps especially one of them.
Victoria visited Japan for the first time in 2001. Only 24 years old, she made her first official visit on her own in Tokyo.
What has happened to the Crown Princess and Japan since then?
- On the personal level, it has happened very much. I have got a great man who is very kind, and a nice family. And in Japan, it has happened a lot, said Victoria.
18.30 Tuesday: Swedish Embassy. Victoria speaks at a dinner for several powerful CEOs for fishing companies in Japan. She has a small pine with her.
- This little pine needs to grow for about 80 to 90 years before it's ready to fall. So to plant it is nothing you do for yourself, but for your children and grandchildren.
10.30 Wednesday: Tokyo. A visit to Aeon's store. It is one of Japan's leading retailers and operates food and department store and pharmacy. While waiting for Victoria, journalists are told that the Crown Princess will not come in time. She wants to look at chopsticks, we are told. Immediately, the journalists run four stairs up, place themselves at a cavalade of chopsticks, waiting for Victoria. She arrives, sees familiar faces with the journalists and breaks out:

- It's not easy. Even if you can ask questions and try to make wise choices, it's hard.
What questions you should ask?
- About origin, how things have been produced and if there are better alternatives than what you would have chosen. You should try to read. But that should be easier.
When Victoria is at a seminar at UN University, I and photographer Sven Lindwall go to a fast-food venue next door and take us a bag to the university.
- But, are you here?, we hear a familiar female voice. It's Victoria who had been in the toilet next to us. Sven Lindwall shows a little embarrassed a bag of fast food.
- One knows it from the aroma, says Victoria, looks at me: - But haven't you got anything?
My food is in Lindwall's bag and when Victoria is sure of that, she goes for lunch with the speakers.
- See you later, she says happily.
To meet a royal directly after a toilet visit is hardly something you do everyday. But Victoria manages the situation with calm and chats friendly - something I can't think that someone else in her family would do.
06.55 Thursday: Tsukiji Fish Market. It is cold in the morning when Victoria comes out of the car. She walks straight to us journalists.
- How has it been for you? Will you make it out?
The question surprised everyone. There is some annoyance that only two photographers out of five may come in when Victoria visits the seafood market. Victoria cares for that everyone should come in and tries to even convince the organizers about that. But despite her efforts, some of us have to kindly wait outside.
13:00 Thursday: Hamariyku Garden. Victoria walks in the garden and chats with me and Sven Lindwall. When she stands up for a photo, she looks at photographer Sven and says: - You are not really satisfied. Sven explains that he loves watching the crown princess move more at the photo.
- Only for you, she answers with a smile.
One of my colleagues gets an interview with Victoria. She has her child on the trip whom I promise to look after. When the crown princess sees me with the stroller, she bends down on her knees in front of the stroller.
- He is so cute! Now I miss them at home, says Victoria.
13.45 Friday: Temple. Shiogama. The visit begins to end, soon Victoria goes for a dinner with Crown Prince Naruhito. She summarizes the trip.
- It has been good. It has been a program that gave insight into much. It's been fun to get along with this.
She told previously, why she is so passionate about sea and fishing issues. And the commitment is really noticed.
Next day she flies home again, to the family waiting at Haga Palace.
- Daniel has actually never been in Japan. I hope we can experience it together sometime, says Victoria, smiling under the cherry tree.

Crown Princess Victoria has been visiting Japan and a big press followed every step she took. Victoria is a genuinely warm person who cares about everyone. She is incredibly easy to like.

She has fully grown into the role of future regent of Sweden. A role she manages galantly. During the visit, Victoria held speechs for several powerful CEOs in the fishing industry, and her voice was always strong and calm.

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, who is a United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Advocate, will hold at statement during the ceremony. His Majesty King Willem Alexander and the OPCW's Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü will unveil a plaque acknowledging the OPCW's anniversary. The commemorative ceremony will also feature statements by Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders, Mayor Pauline Krikke of The Hague and others.

Victoria gave an interview to Lindén during the trip.
The crown princess was in Japan on her first official trip alone in 2001. How does it feel to come back?
- Great fun! There is a different focus on this trip than it was previously. Then it was much about promoting Sweden, in every possible aspect. This trip focuses on issues with fish and sustainability.
If one thinks the crown princess herself. How have you evolved as a person and in your royal task?
- Generally, it is really fun to have the opportunity to represent Sweden. I am extremely proud to show Sweden and nothing has changed in that. I continue to wonder all that we actually have to offer and that people are interested in Sweden. Here in Japan we have a good collaboration with researchers and talented people who can "hook arm with" to achieve a better level of development, in this case in fishery. It is about something bigger - the supply of people. What shall we eat in the future?
How does the crown princess talk about her trips and work with princess Estelle?
- Estelle knows that I am here and talk about fish and then we talk about Japan, fish issues, nature and ecology and how the things are connected. She is five years old but she is not too young. On the contrary, she is very interested and receptive.
The crown princess started to engage herself with sustainable seas very early. Can you tell a little about it?
- I guess it is that I have been curious like most children and that I have had parents who explained everything in an interesting way. With that, I have gradually understood that the situation is very bad for the Baltic Sea, which we think is good, because it looks so on the surface. But then, when you look a little closer, you understand that it's really bad. And I have come into contact with knowledgeable people.
In the summer there will be a big birthday. When you think back to your 18th birthday, which also was big, which have been the highlights during these years?
- Well, if you think it on the personal level, it goes without saying that it is that I have met my husband whom I love and that I have got two fantastic children. And having been able to devote myself to things I feel very strongly for. To be able to help and distribute what Sweden stands for.

Victoria attends today and tomorrow at "Fishing Dialogue - Keystone Dialogue 2" at The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.
The meeting is a follow-up meeting for Keystone Dialogue/Soneva Dialogue meeting on the Maldives on 11-13th November, Victoria attended at the meeting as its patron and held a speech at the meeting. The keystone actors (eight of the world's largest seafood companies) participating in the first dialogue produced a joint statement. This statement outlines their concern about the current and future state of the ocean, and identifies a number of areas, which they will address together – in order to actively contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Victoria met also some of the participants of Soneva Dialogue on her trip to Japan last month.

Victoria arrived to the Keystone Dialogue 2 before nine o'clock this morning.

The royal court tells at its website about Victoria attending on Monday and Tuesday at the second edition of Keystone Dialogue at The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.
Stockholm Resilience Centre arranged the meeting with ten of the world's largest seafood companies. The aim was to develop global cooperation on sustainable seas. The meeting was a follow-up to the previous dialogue taking place in the Maldives in November 2016, as well as an informal meeting with the largest Japanese seafood companies that took place at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo in April.
On Monday morning, the Crown Princess opened the meeting and said: "It has been only half a year since we gathered for the first Keystone Dialogue in the Maldives.I am proud of the achievements of the dialogue in November and the creation of the SeaBOS initiative. [ … ]
You, the people in this room, are leaders of the global seafood industry. By joining this unique initiative, you have also become leaders of change.
You represent a global force. Not only in the operation of your industry, producing food of high quality. But also in your ability to shape the future of humanity. As Keystone Actors, what you say and do matters. It matters for the health of our marine ecosystems and for the resilience of our planet. [ … ]
When I buy products from the sea, I want to be sure that everything I buy has been fished or grown in a sustainable and fair way. I want to make sure that the food I provide for my children is useful and has been produced under good working conditions."
Keystone Dialogue 2 in Stockholm resulted in deeper cooperation between companies. A clear plan was made for how these major players can jointly develop their capacity to lead the transition to sustainable caught or cultivated fish and shellfish, as well as how companies can take greater global responsibility for the world's ocean.
