[quote=sara1981]Earl and Countess of Wessex pictures part 2

Sara, I think you have misunderstood the point of this thread. While the photos you posted of Edward and Sophie were very nice, they did not show romantic looks between them (most were poses for the camera).

Maybe look at some of the other photos as an example.

What about more pictures of the older generation when THEY were young and in love?
Sophia and Juan Carlos, Constantine and Anne-Marie, Paola and Albert, Leopold and Fabiola, Frederik and Ingrid, Margrethe and Henrik, Noor and Hussein, Beatrix and Claus...
They were all such stunning and loving couples back in their day.

I was looking through an old Paris Match today, the one that had the wedding photographs of Philippe and Mathilde.

During the wedding mass there was a point where they prayed for the dead, specifically including Mathilde's sister and grandmother who died together in a car crash about 2 years before the wedding. Mathilde started to cry but she had forgotten to bring a handkerchief. Philippe must have noticed her looking for one, so he very quietly handed her his handkerchief. I thought it was very sweet.

To me he is the most loving Prince towards his Princess. When I see pictures of the two of them as well as their family, and the fondness and love towards Queen Fabiola, I just wish I was Mathilde.

On a whole, the Benulux Royals are quite openly affectionate.

I remember this, it was a painfull moment, especially as the camera of the belgian television zoomed in on the (crying) countess Anne Komorovska (mother of Mathilde). Mathilde's father Count Patrick d'Udekem d'Acoz spoke openly on television, prior to the wedding, that the Duke of Brabant has been a great support to him and his family during this time. His brother Henri (mayor of Poperinge) spoke openly, during the same program) that his brother and sister-in-law still were terribly shaken by it and that they will most probably never recover completely from this loss.

thanks for the pictures of Beatrix and Claus. Although not many pictures are posted here they were one of the most openly affectionate royal couples I know. Especially later in life it was noticable that the queen always looked with a twinkle in her eyes to her husband.
Claus once openly declared his love to his wife, during a speech for the prince Claus fund and the Queen looked like a shy girl, smiling and blushing and with a twinkle.

I loooooove those last two pictures. They are perhaps my favorite (along with Beatrix sitting in that seat looking up at Claus and Margrethe and Henrik looking at eachother with their boys sitting down).

How do you search that site? It's not in English so it's difficult to navigate it. :(

I thought the most clever thing about the photograph was that you didn't see their faces. It was just his hand holding out the handkerchief to her.

Unfortunately I never saw Philippe and Mathilde's wedding, but I think that these pictures are from when they were praying for the dead. At least they fit the profile:

Mette's second picture is the one where Philippe gives Mathilde his handkerchief.
