The ö is pronounced in a similar way as the "u" in curve. I hope that helps :)

For Aimée Söhngen, the dutch "g" is quite the same than the german "ch" or the spanish "j", the jota.

Somewhere in this tread I tried to explain it to Layla or to BeatrixFan, I don't remember. Maybe you should look again. :)

It's a French name, so it's mor something like ea-may (like 'ea' in a word as 'wear' and 'may' as 'way', but even than it's not exactly the same).

Hmmm, difficult topic, this.

Thanks to Maxie, I think this is the info you're looking for.

Hi Layla. Try to say y (like in yard) and force some air out. Then you'll have it. :)

Maybe you should watch one of the things from Dutch news broadcasts that were posted in the wedding thread. And pay attention of course, I think they say it in the beginning of it... and if it doesn't work, than try it again and again, just as long untill you here something that sounds like Sur-h-y-en or Sun-y-en (because that's wat it is).

Do you people know what you have to learn? A phonological alphabeth! That one comes in handy in matters like this.

*Maxie is a little confused too, and that about her mothertongue, which she happens to study at university! Unbelievable!*

It would be closer to "may".
But I have the same difficulties than Maxie: I'm unable to explain the phonetics of my maternal tongue.
