I don't like Camilla. And I think it's creepy that she was at Diana and Charles's wedding. And that she gave him cufflinks. It's like he married because he had to and expected to be able to have his affair like many monarchs probably have in history. I think he and that family duped Diana from the beginning. An inauspicious way to start a marriage, I'll say.

I just wonder, does the Church of England have pre-marital counseling? I know the Catholic Church, at least where I live, a weekend retreat for couples who will be married called Engaged Encounter. I found it highly interesting and useful, even though I'm not Catholic. Other protestant churches do, too. Maybe if Charles and Diana had had proper counseling before getting married, they would have realized they had NO interests or values in common. Zippo.

Get used to it! I like to be different and refuse to kneel at the shrine of St Diana. I admire what she did in her public life but Camilla also has something very positive to offer.
What does Camilla have to offer?? That makes me laugh [/b][/quote]
Camilla has lots to offer!

Look at it this way. She is a private citizen, she is not obligated to do charity work but she does. The Osteoporosis Association has welcomed her as it's President and she works tirelessly for a cause which has personally affected her family. Both her mother and grandmother died from the disease. It is not a high profile or newsworthy charity like AIDS but it needs people who are prepared to give their time and, yes, money, to the cause. Camilla does not do this because she wants the attention - from all accounts she would rather not have the attention of the world on her - but because it is an area where she sees her help is needed.

Also, she is passionate in her beliefs and whilst I am not willing to get into a pro/anti bloodsport arguement here, she supports the way she feels and would have happily taken part in the Pro-Hunting rally that was held in London. It was only the Queen's request that she not take part that prevented her being there.

If she will go to those lengthes for something like that I feel that she will put her heart & soul into any work she would undertake as Charles wife (whether she is made Princess of Wales or not) and into being a productive and valuable member of the royal family. I see her in much the same mould as the Princess Royal who roles up her sleeves and gets on with the practical side of her work.

Diana did a marvelous job in raising awareness of the needs of her charities but there is a place for ladies like Camilla just as there is for Sophie, Anne, etc. I am sure that the many charities in Britain and world wide are not going to refuse the help and patronage of Camilla or any other willing pair of hands.

Camilla doesn't have anything to offer. She is happy with the life she leads as a mistress, because she now has the freedom. Once she is married she have not. She knows that the wife of prince Charles is constantly in the spotlight and that she is very restricted in what she does.

Camilla is not a the type of person to be a royal. She wants to do things she wants and not restricted by protocol or the rules of the royal house.

Sophietje, well put!

The Prince's disgusting old mistress is not royal nor likely ever to be, thus she is not even relevant to a thread dedicated to most annoying royals. If there was a thread dedicated to worthless individuals who currently flaunt their sexual liaisons with royalty then of course she would top that list.

That isn't the same as not having anything to offer. She's being supportive of Charles and is doing some of the same sort of charity work that a lot of the royals are doing. That's at least an improvement on just taking his money and doing no public work at all.

What's most annoying about Camilla to me is that she had a chance with Prince Charles in the 70's before she met and married Andrew Parker Bowles. Why didn't she just wait for Charles? Here we are, 30 years later, with Camilla trying to have the best of both worlds. People make mistakes, but it something about her just seems odd.

It's interesting how many of least favourites previously mentioned- Prince Phillip, Jaime de Marichalar, Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Diana, Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn (Princess Margarita's soon to be ex-husband), and my personal least favourite, Marie-Chantal of Greece- are all royals by marriage and not by birth.

It seems that at least some of these people let the power/status of royal life get to their heads.

Probably Prince Joachim will be getting some votes now, for letting the dazzling Alexandra go. One wonders what they had in common all this time if she is a hard worker and takes her duties seriously and he has become a latent party boy? Could Denmark have asked for a better princess than A? Has she ever embarrassed the country by being indiscreet or spoiled or just stupid? I think not.

regarding Prince Philip, I have heard about his offensive comments about the chinese but what exactly were the other racist comments he has made?
He seems to have a tact for putting his foot in his mouth. He's known in Canada for calling the country a wise 'investment'
And could someone please tell me what exactly were the racist comments that Princess Michael of Kent made?

I have to agree that Joachim is annoying for letting Alexandra go. What is even more annoying is that he and Alexandra seem to be doing a great job and getting along since their divorce. I do think it is great that they are being very adult and civilized about the matter, but I must admit that I would love to know what actually happen there for too people who still manage to be so cordial to not be able to work things out and forego divorce proceedings.

Camilla, is a little annoying. I am not sure what she has to offer England, but she does seem to be able to offer Prince Charles a great deal of support. She seems to be his "rock" for lack of a better description. So, if having her there with him helps him then I guess that she isn't that annoying. Annoying, but for a good reason.

The most annoying-Ernst August. Since he has been ill as of late, I will reserve my usually harsh statements concerning his demeanor at times. But, he is really a social liability. What annoys me about him is that he always has this sourpuss looks on his face like a pouty child.

I think you might have a valid point there, Josefine. Most of us only know the royals by way of the press, what the press has chosen to write about them, or also what they have chosen to reveal themselves.

They do shape their own image by their own actions and words, but the press is also fond of putting words in their mouths, take it out of context and putting bad pictures out there. You only sell so many copies when you talk about very perfect people.
