I am with everyone who is annoyed by Princess Beatrice.. She behaves more like a VIP who screams for paparazzi pictures to make sure to be in the magazines the next morning.

I am kind of divided in my opinion of the Casiraghi children(Princess Caroline's older kids) All during their upbringing the Princess emphasized that they were NOT being raised as Royals. They do not have titles. Therefore theoretically at least, they cannot be judged by Royal standards. BUT...on the other hand I would think that being born into great wealth and privilege and everything that goes with it should bring with it a certain amount of responsibility if not obligation to use your good fortune in a positive way. These kids have been blessed with good looks, apparent intelligence and a legendary name and heritage. Think of the influence they could have in the world!

Instead we see all of them floating from one party and fashion show to the next in between making an appearance in the Principality for some special occasion. They are still so young and there is certainly nothing wrong with parties and fashion, but what else are they interested in? There must be something??!

And she's not even well turned out, imo.

I actually feel a little sorry for Beatrice,I get the impression that she is a little lost as to where she fits into things. She is offered all the perks of being a celebrity and has a mother, that she adores, who seems quite willing to enjoy them when she should be advising her daughter to try and stay away from all things celebrity. I think that what she needs is some good advice on how to deal with it all and soon.

I've already mentioned that I'm not fond of Prince Ernst August (sleazy).

I like Prince Philip fine, but I'm not crazy about his racist jokes. I understand that he may be from a generation where that kind of humor was once somewhat acceptable, but now it is considered unkind and thoughtless, so he should put a lid on it.

Marie Cavillier is somewhat annoying, or at least used to be. She was so super-chatty with the press, and for a royal, that's a big no-no. I didn't like that she went on and on about loving Joachim, etc. to paparazzi, basically. But now, I think she's become adapt to "what not to do if you are a member of the royal family," and I really like her very much now.

Many people are mentioning Princess Beatrice, and although she's probably not acting wonderfully now, she's still young, and probably immature. We might have to give her a little bit of time to calm her sails.

Prince Albert of Monaco, while genuinely a good person, I think, annoys because of his immaturity. It's cool to be the playboy prince when you're young, good looking, and have all the time in the world to pick out the perfect woman. It's not cool when you're 50, balding, and have at least two illegitimate children. I think that, as far as settling down goes, it's either now or never, and he seems to be leaning towards never.

The Casiraghi's really get on my nerves. They don't seem to do much anything of substance, except travel the world with their significant others. And one of these might be the next ruler of Monaco!

And donīt forget, Belgians just love to nag about so many things – and I sure know what Iīm talking about.

The Point de Vue article is rubbish, but that was to be expected from PdV lately. And hey, Belgium is still Belgium and not divided. Mathilde scores well in polls - iirc she holds position 2 amongst the Belgian royals - with Albert in the lead - in the latest popularity poll. She also was voted as second most stylish woman in Flanders (!, yes, Flanders, she is a Flemish girl all of sudden ) while Filip and Mathilde are voted as most harmonious couple in Belgium and so on and so on. Saying she is unpopular just doesnīt describe the situation in Belgium at all, not even in Flanders. Mathilde is respected and her input is appreciated, even in the rotten Flemish boulevard press like Het Laatste Nieuws. And this she cannot speak Dutch thing, pardon me, itīs nonsense. Her Dutch has ups and downs, but over all itīs okay, she gets into troubles in emotional situations, but this also happens to her while speaking French, not so obviously but it happens... The Mathilde-mania we had in the beginning cooled down though, but this is just a healthy process if you ask me.
I am very happy to hear your point of vue. They seem like a happy couple and their children are lovely. When they first got engaged there was so much talk that Matilde was fluent in Dutch and then I read that she speaks it very poorly. With all the issues in Belgium between the French and Dutch speaking people, one would think, she'd make a more concerted effort to become a bit more fluent in Dutch. Then again Queen Paola is not fluent either. It seems like a hard language to learn.

Hola!

I second whoever that thinks the current royal members of Monaco are annoying! Yet, they seemed to blessed with many good things and fortune.

On the lighter mode, I find P. Maxima's and Q. Margrethe's teeth quite distasteful, especially since they like to smile and laugh a lot, and constantly being photographed!

add to that the woman had a hysterectomy a few years ago and will be probably having the side effects still and i stress THIS IS NOT A CRITICISM she is not in the first flush of youth. She is a mature woman who in MO has conducted herself for years with a dignity and reserve of a royal nature.

Cool

I've read most of the replies and the reasons why those royalties are annoying and I was really annoyed..hehe!

I saw a pic over rotten.com and saw a royal icon picking nose in public! Now isn't that annoying. Yayy!

Thinking about Louis XIV on how he focused on his high standards on being a king even if he was pre-soaked into an immoral environment. He managed to stay away from them and never tried any of 'em.

Anyways, in fairness to the nasty royalties...they are also human.

hehe, this is a quite interesting topic. I personally cannot just pick one at the moment, but it is usually when one of them are on the news for something stupid.

So my category is the socialite, celebutantes who are begging for press and have too many upskirts, and pdas shots. They have all the opportunities in the world, but yet they manage to look worse than the Bush twins .

Your opinions of the Monaco royals are shared by me. I recently saw a show that talked about the untitled Casiraghi's. That's when it hit me that the situation that has developed is partly Princess Caroline's fault. She didn't want her children to have royal titles for fear of them being judged and looked at differently. But if you are going to raise your children as untitled royalty, then you can't keep having them in the royal circles. What she tried to do seems impossible especially in such a tiny principality that gives so much attention to their royals. They are not titled royalty so therefore they really have very little business being seen as much as they are seen. It's kind of a weird situation if you ask me. It's like P. Caroline had these great ideas about how her children would be raised and then they grew up, her life changed(widow and new husband comes along) and she thought better of it. Or perhaps the kids themselves thought better of it and prefer the attention. Perhaps it would have been better if they had received titles because title or no title they are still members of the royal family and they are still being looked at and judged.

Where I'm going with this is likely lost in translation at this point. But my point is that we can't expect much from these people. We can't expect them to take on the world. They were raised as untitled royalty which in my opinion is the nice way to say "I'm raising my children to love the perks of being royalty without the responsibility of it."

*my highlights

Well said. I think this also applies even to the titled ones. I wonder how many (both titled and untitled) were actually raised like this.

Insofar as Princess Beatrice is concerned I can only respond by saying that she's a very young woman, after all. Like all of the young Princes and Princesses, I think that we might permit her enough rope to be a young, skittish, and sometimes silly young girl. I don't find it worrisome that she's currently into clubbing and late nights. Oh, yes, I remember it well!

From what I've read about Beatrice, she a loving and loyal daughter to both of her parents, she's doing well in her studies, she hopes for a career in fashion-design (i.e. not being reliant on the state) and she's trying hard to be a working princess.

I applaud her efforts to engage with the modern world. I like her style.

Two hours a week isnīt it? That isnīt trying that hard. Most of this praise comes from her mother, you should have heard my mother it made me blush.
If she hopes for a career in fashion design she had better learn first what suits her, before designing or trying to design for others. So far she has shown absolutely no taste.
