I am descended from Alfred the Great but my line of descent branches out before it reaches Edgar. Can I still make my claim? Oops. I must run. I'm late for my tiara fitting.

I read in the article about ´legions of French, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch, Swedish and Canadian´ who are hopeful to claim the throne.
But where are the GERMANS? Today i will start to root through my family tree!

My paternal grandmother once showed me a postcard of the Crown Regalia of GB and said "We're related to this.", but she also never liked to talk about geneology and family history. My paternal grandfather and my mother would talk about it quite a bit and my grandmother would always get up and leave the room when they started. My grandfather would then say something like "Be careful - You might find out something you didn't want to know.".

Deep down I know I meant to wear a tiara!

Although I live in the U.S., my family is from Germany. I'm a direct descendant of Edgar. I know several other fellow posters who are direct descendants as well.

I hardly doubt it matters if your white, green, purple or black...I'm sure there are many around the world who are not caucasian yet have an ancestral link which meets a line of royal pedigree Of course this may not be the case with you but just because your not white, does not mean you're not descended of someone who was or is.

I can trace my family history on my dad's side back to the 1700's, and it doesn't look like anyone left India. There's hope on my mom's side, though! I haven't researched anything there yet.

I know I can't claim the British throne because I truly think I am not related to them in anyway I not livining in a fantacy unlike some of those who actually think they have a real chance at getting a postion in the line of succession to the throne. Not saying all of them but they need to get tested to make sure their related to the British royal family before they recieve a place in the line of succession to the throne.

Christening ships? Cutting ribbons to open orphanages? Attend the Ballet? Fitting for new clothes? I know it's a rough life! : )
