In the link that Sara posted above, I believe that in the picture the Queen and Prince Philip are laughing at the barriers keeping the media at bay which kept falling down, because that's what I read in the newspaper this morning, which I thought was quiet funny myself!

A lot of the women where i was working today(a nursing home) were talking about it over lunch, some really dissapointed they'd missed it on tv. Anyway, it's so great to have our Queen here! One woman in the elevator was all excited, telling me she 'saw the Queen' she was wearing lime green and looked 'glorious':)

At my place of work, a school, the sentiment was "ho hum" who is she and why is she here? We should be a republic and do away with this anachronism'
Maybe some people, including the kids, were trying to wind me up but the attitude really was - who cares about her. Sorry - but that was my experience today at a Western Sydney school. NB These are NOT my sentiments but those of the kids and my colleagues. |

Just in case anyone wanted to know, walker Jane Saville has just been announced as Australia's flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday night...
I don't know if any of our overseas forum members know of Jane, but she would have won the gold medal at the Sydney Olympics for the women's 20km walk, had she not been disqualified when she entered the arena, so it's a special moment for Australian Sport

We (monarchists) are becoming a dwindling memory in this great nation...those like Von Schlesian and myself are but a rare breed of young crown supporters who do what we can to prevent the inevitable. May God Save The Queen & may she continue to reign over these distant, but familair shores... "MII" Last edited by Margrethe II; 03-13-2006 at 07:42 AM. |

I'm so excited and happy today, i saw the Queen just about 5m away from me at the Opera House!Having been a fan for Her Majesty more than 8 years, and now for the first time seeing her, i'm so luckly as it'd be Her Majesty's last trip to Australia when she will turn to 80th in April.....
My sister's friend helped me to get to Opera House in the morning, and we got to wait from 10.30,couldn't believe there was too much people there, i got about third stairs going up to the Opera House, and i took a really good photo of The Governor General and the Prime Minister walking to wait for the Queen's arrival. It was a bit sunny so certainly hotty as well, but i can stand with it... And finally, the Queen arrived at about 11.15 in Rolls-Royce, i was so exciting that moment, Her Majesty came in a lime bright outfit with a matching hat, smiling, talked to the Governor General, the PM and their spouses, got curtseyed from the Governor Generals wife and waving to the crowd while walking for the Welcoming Ceremony ,....Her Majesty was so elegant from all her etiquettes,...she has really lovely smile!I was singing God Save The Queen along when the Guards of Honours God Save The Queen was sang twice as well as Australian Advanced Fair, and it was great when the Queen's Lady-in-waiting looked up and i smiled to her and she did smiled back to me!:) I did recorded some videos of the Queen during the salute, and photos as well...Then Her Majesty undertook a walkabout, talking to the crowd, she is a dedicated Queen, she spent times talking to people, luckily they got talk to the Queen, people who stood on the side, presneting flowers, taking photos....Then i left for heading to St Andrew's Cathedral...Her Majesty's Rolls-Royce was quite big when seeing in it in real than in the pictures...Prince Edward was there as well for the Commonwealth Service, but i didn't see him outside just the Queen and Prince Philip...Anthony Callea also sang infront of the Queen and other guests, then on Getty Images, so he did attended the Commonwealth Reception at Admiralty House with the Queen and other special guests and shook hand with Her Majesty!!!!Badluck that the security man at St Andrew's got wrong that where Her Majesty will take the walkabout made me couldn't see her like other people stood near the side of the Town Hall, so lucky they were,...but i was so happy when Her Majesty left, i could see her clearly again, she waved to the group i stood, and smiled....i was so excited waving back to her, but it'd be good for a picture that clear of the Queen:( ....But at least that it was so perfect at Sydney Opera House, i couldn't imagine that i could have seen the Queen one day in my life!!!! Her Majesty and His Royal Highness have backed to Canberra for a busy day of engagements tomorrow, and great!can see Her Majesty in Tiara with Australian Order tomorrow night! A great day!Thank you to Her Majesty and His Royal Highness for being back to Australia, i wish Her Majesty with Long live like her mother used to be!
