.
you're welcome:)
Yes I thought that was very thoughtful of her too.
This is her first visit to Canada that Im following so closely, eventhough she has been here a couple of times in the past few years. I've noticed how she doesnt let the weather bother her or stop her from talking to well wishers, when she and Prince Philip arrived in the open landau in the pouring rain. And I also felt that people sometimes unfairly accuse her of being too stiff or not smiling enough. She has seemed very happy and relaxed ever since the visit began.

Queen salutes Saskatchewan's spirit

Queen Elizabeth II expressed her delight at being with Saskatchewanians to celebrate their province's centennial.

At a luncheon in Regina Friday, the Queen noted she first came to Saskatchewan in 1951, when the CCF's Tommy Douglas was premier.

"Premier Douglas brought social consciousness to life in the policies that directly affected the lives of Canadians," she said at the conclusion of a four-day visit.

But she also paid tribute to all people of Saskatchewan over the generations, who fought to build a society that would guarantee a better future for their children and grandchildren.

Her remarks noted the West was a land built by immigrants from all over the world and have added "their own richness to the vast, colorful tapestry that is only matched by the size and beauty of the country itself.

"With this spirit, the future is boundless," she said.

Finance Minister Ralph Goodale welcomed the Queen, saying her visit "refreshed the close bonds of genuine affection between the people of Saskatchewan and the Queen and her family."

He noted Her Majesty had been the province's Queen for the majority of its history.

"As you head west to Alberta, we hope you will carry with you the fondest memories of Saskatchewan -- despite some outbursts of Prairie spring weather," he said, referencing the downpour that marked the second day of her visit.

After the luncheon ends, the royal couple will leave on a Dash-8 airplane for a private three-day retreat in Alberta's Rocky Mountains.

The morning involved separate events for the Royal couple, including a plaque unveiling ceremony for Her Majesty, and a tour of a conservation project for the Duke of Edinburgh.

For the Queen, a big event was a reception at Saskatchewan's Government House, where she was greeted by Lt.-Gov. Lynda Haverstock.

The Queen unveiled a plaque for an addition to the building bearing her name.

For the Prince, there was a tour of the Wascana Conservation Project. He then presented the Duke of Edinburgh Habitat Conservation Awards.

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if anybody had any pictures from the 18th of the queen walking down the red carpet inside of the legislative building. I am a cadet who was standing there and I was lucky enought to have her, and the prince talk to me, and i think it would be awesome to have a picture of that. So if anyone can help out that would be great! Thanks.

how exciting.
I dont know if you've seen the pictures from the 18 on the last couple of pages, I posted tons of screen caps. But if you're still not in them, you'll have to be specific about which part of the legislature you're talking about. Was it the long gallery the Queen walked down? I taped the event so I might be able to make a few more screen caps if I knew what to look for.
btw..what did the Queen and Prince Philip say to you? if you dont mind sharing.

It was after the reveal of the painting, when the Queen was leaving the legislative. It was wide stairs that are in the Legislative right when you walk in (behind the security desk) As she was walking down the red carpet she stopped to talk to a couple of us cadets, she saw the wings on my uniform (I was the only pilot cadet around) and asked what they were for (gliding) she then asked if it was fun, and she said that she should have to try it. When she carried on the Prince was walking down the other side of the steps, and then he saw me, and walked all the way over to ask if the water (I was soaked from the rain) was sinking through my uniform. I thought it was neat that he came all the way (wasn't really THAT far) over to ask me that.
But anything you could find would be so great! Thanks again!

Queen attends Mountie memorial

The Queen is visiting during a time of political turmoil in Canada

The Queen and Prince Philip have visited a memorial for four Mounties who were shot dead.

They placed a wreath at the national police training centre in Regina, Saskatchewan and met the families of the dead officers in private.

The Mounties were killed by a gunman as they searched for cannabis on a farm in Edmonton, in March this year.

The Queen is visiting Canada at a time of great political instability with the government surviving a confidence vote.

The nine-day trip is to mark the centenary of Saskatchewan and Alberta's incorporation into Canada.

In pictures: Queen's visit

The dead officers were Peter Schiemann, 25, Anthony Gordon, 28, Lionide Johnston, 32, and 29-year-old Brock Myrol.

Farm owner James Roszko, 46, killed them with a high-powered rifle before ending his own life.

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin has been accused of using the Queen's visit to deflect attention away from the scandal affecting his Liberal Party. He survived a confidence vote on Thursday night, relying on the speaker's tie-breaking vote. The Queen also visited the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron, a research facility at the University of Saskatchewan.

thanx for sharing:)
You know I'm not surprised about the Prince. I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that he loves to talk to people. At least that's what I've noticed during this visit.
Im sorry but I dont have the pictures of the Queen leaving the legislature. Thats because they didnt show that part on tv. The only shot they had was of the Queen walking towards the stairs. And then they showed her emerging outside the building. Sorry about that.

Some more pics from the Queen's visit to Government House yesterday where an entire wing of the house was named after her.
The Queen wasn't scheduled to do a walkabout but there was a crowd gathered outside and so the plans were changed and she did greet everyone.
