You hit the nail on the head Goldberry! After looking at the recent pictures of HM at the Gold Service Scholarship event, I was drawn to look further down the page with many other recent pictures of The Queen and then some older shots (like her wedding photo).

If we were able to actually find someone that lived under a rock or something and had absolutely no clue who Queen Elizabeth II is, I would wager that if asked what they think her age to be, it wouldn't be anywhere near the 90 year mark. Personally I think its the happiness that shines through her facial expressions when she smiles that keeps her forever young. Twinkling eyes with laughter and smiles that light up a room will do that.

BTW: Welcome to TRF and the wide, wild world of anything royal!

A new railway line which will run under London is to be named after the Queen.

Crossrail, which will link parts of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire to Essex, will be known as the Elizabeth line once it opens through the centre of the capital in December 2018.

The announcement was made by London Mayor Boris Johnson as the Queen visited the under-construction Bond Street station.

Beautiful pics! Lilac is definitely an awesome color for Her Majesty and she should wear it more often!

Since George is mad for vehicles of all kinds, I wonder when he will get to ride great granny's train line? And every time I see a photo of a member of the Family with the Mayor, I wonder if they go home and discuss his hair. Because I would.

Royal dressmaker is given the ultimate compliment in ceremony at Buckingham Palace

The Queen will invest many hundreds of people with honours this year, but only one of them will be able to say they designed the dress she wore to give them their award.

Stewart Parvin, the Queen's dressmaker for the past nine years, has been rewarded for his loyal service by being made a member of the Royal Victorian Order in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty paid him the ultimate compliment by choosing a purple patterned day dress by Mr Parvin for the occasion.

Mr Parvin, who works with the Queen's dresser Angela Kelly to create some of Her Majesty's most memorable outfits, said his job was "very easy" because the Queen looks "wonderful" in any outfit.

The RVO is given by the Queen to people who have served her or the monarchy in a personal way. It is bestowed independently of 10 Downing Street.

Mr Parvin said after the investiture ceremony: "I'm hugely humbled and very grateful and very proud to receive it."

Speaking about creating outfits for the Queen, he added: "Designing for someone who looks so wonderful in [any] clothes is very easy."
