BP: "The Queen is feeling under the weather today and has decided not to attend this morning's service at St Paul's Cathedral marking the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George." There is no cause for concern.

I'm quite sure they wouldn't state "there is no cause for concern" if it was really concerning/serious. She might be a little too tired because of her busy schedule (caused by her own interest in royal ascot) or have a cold. It can always turn into something more serious at her age but for now I go by the court's statement.

The Queen is pretty good at making it seem like it’s easy to carry out her job at her advanced age, but in reality it’s not easy. One day you can be the okay and the next day can be very different.

Just the fact that the statement was released stating "there is no need for concern" tells me something. This 92 years young woman has the distinct reputation of not calling into work sick and should she fall under the weather and needs down time to just rest (like most of us do a lot more often than she does), its an anomaly.

At 92 years young, its amazing to even fathom the strength and stamina of this wonderful woman but on the good side too, it lets us know she's as human and fallible to maladies just as much as we are.

It is an indisputable fact that our Queen works very, very, hard. "Royal Ascot" is actually a Royal Engagement and is the one week that she really gets to combine business and pleasure, enjoy and have fun at work. For you to imply that if she is tired it's her own darned fault is insulting in the extreme.

I suggest you look at Princess Larisa's posts from the Court Circularand factor in the high temperatures in the UK at present and you will know that HM has not been sitting around fanning herself while prostrate as a result of attending Royal Ascot. I know that I will not be working when I am 92 years old, and to be honest, I believe she works a darned sight harder than many people half her age. Whatever the cause, she will be following her Doctor's advice. If it's a cold I think she would be more worried about infecting others because that is the kind of person our queen is.

Whatever the case, I hope that whatever the problem is it is more of an inconvenience rather than a condition.

I think the likely reason for the small phrase 'no need for concern' is precisely because it was a scheduled event and she's not showing up abruptly. That's all.

Heat can be punishing. The Mid-West (Wisconsin, which is even northern) of the the US is spiking temps at 110'F/44'C. If London/Windsor is having temps anywhere near that, with high humidity, no one elderly should be outside in the heat.
