Glad to hear that the RF isn't visiting after all. That would not, IMO, be a good sign. Though I can't imagine that the Queen isn't there awaiting word.

The Royal Correspondent on Sky News has just said that Philip was flown to Papworth. He also reinforced that we don't usually hear this quickly about health issues with the RF. You can draw your own inferences from that.

The reason I thought visitors this late in the evening would be odd is that it would lead me to believe that this is likely more than just a scare.

Where did you hear that they aren't visiting? All reports say they are.

I imagine the family may have visited/be in the process of visiting, but press are not allowed to be near the hospital to prevent any unwanted images and videos of them arriving/leaving. I would think they would possibly bend the rules of The Queen's husband, if he wanted visitors. When Sophie had Lady Louise the Queen and Philip visited without any press knowledge and likely during visiting times, so they likely bent the rules for her then.

I am sure we will hear more in the morning. I am sure it will be positive news and all of this is a precaution given his age.

Aides would be 'surprised', that's not a definite they aren't visiting. As someone said, Prince Philip and HM visited Lady Louise and Sophie without anyone knowing until after. A wife wanting to see her husband is never a bad thing, or his children wanting to see him. I imagine they care whatever condition he is in, minor or major.

I hope all will be well. It may be good for His Highness to see his family. That may help him get better faster. Being alone and ill is never a good thing. Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Family.

There are reports going around that the Duke was airlifted to the hospital, but nothing has been confirmed.

Ben Ando is outside the hospital, and is reporting on nothing new except that it was chosen not to take Philip to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in King's Lynn but to Papworth. He also commented that due to this age, Prince Philip could just be getting a good nights sleep whilst being monitored. I personally don't see them moving him until the morning, so an overnight stay is most likely.

I just don't like the sound of this ... a 90 year old man taken to hospital with chest pains could be very very serious. Praying for the BRF.

What a blessing it is that when needed, he was able to be delivered to the best cardio unit in the country eh? Chest pains are always to be taken very seriously and from what I've read so far, Philip has been given the very best possible cautionary measures.

I'm sure the entire family are very much concerned about Philip's health, but I'd also think they'd be wise enough to know that he'll not need a tea party at the hospital. After the excitement of the trip there, and undergoing tests and such, he's going to really need his rest. No matter what is wrong or even if its indigestion, he's in the very best possible place he can be right now.

Here's hoping that he's home and with the family for Christmas and also possibly regaling the nurses on the ward with some of his famous Philip gaffes.

Papworth is not the nearest hospital to Sandringhan, I think the Norfolk and Norwich is closer but maybe Papworth is more specialised for chest complaints. I'm sure Philip will want to return to Sandringham as soon as possible. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Papworth is over an hour away, Queen Elizabeth in King's Lynn is closest but Papworth is more specialised.

Papworth is the best hospital in England for cardiac issues.

If it was nothing special, this wouldn't happen. I think his situation is quite serious..

I'm not getting a good feeling about this either, but I'm trying not to jump to conclusions.

I don't think I like the sound of this. Does anyone have a better idea of what this means? I don't remember there being anything like this the last time HRH was hospitalized.
