Chest pains are never to be taken lightly, least of all when one is 90 years of age.
It's all over the news here. I hope it's not too serious and he can re-join his family for Christmas.

He may have to stay overnight for observation just to stay on the safe side; at that age you have to take every precaution.

BBC news have updated their article minutes ago:
BBC News Prince Philip
Discussing the speed at which the royals released the information, she said: "Either this is more serious and therefore they felt they really must issue a statement, or they've simply moved with the times and it's going to get out in social media."
Let's hope it is the latter.

According to the BBC they're 'playing down' speculation of a heart attack, but Philip was taken to Papworth rather than a more local hospital.

He was taken to Papworth with chest pains. That's all we know. It was reported as chest pains, not heart problems or even a heart attack.

Apparently a BBC Royal Correspondent said that this was 'clearly disruptive' to the family Christmas. What a rather awful thing to say.
Several newspapers are saying Prince Philip went in last night, and Papworth is just over and hour away from Sandringham.

Just heard a blip on TV about HRH. Knew if I came here first I would get the latest info all in one place. God bless him and HM, I am praying for them both. Anything to do with the heart is to be taken seriously, but in a 90 year old, especially so. I'm glad that he's in what appears to be the top center for cardiac care.
Have they said whether he was driven by car, ambulance, or taken by helicopter?

Very late in the evening for visiting. Any time I've been in an NHS hospital visitors have been sent home at about 8.30pm, for the patients' well being. I know they'd bend the rules for the RF but still a bit odd.

I don't know how they do this, unless they have prior knowledge, but Prince Philip's heart scare has made tomorrows Daily Mail front page. This is the royal family, they'd probably let them in at 3 in the morning if they wanted.

They'd bend the rules for anybody if the patient wishes, it seems:
"Sometimes exceptional circumstances arise where patients wish to have visitors outside of the formal visiting times: ward staff will do their best to accommodate this."

BBC report says there is no need for alarm, we are waiting further information. However it is presumed (but unconfirmed), he will stay the night.
