90th Birthday Celebrations of Queen Elizabeth: May and June 2016

I thought it was strange that Charles and Camilla were in Gloucestershire and everybody else was in London. If other royals were in different locations around the country, it would make more sense.

Camilla had a commitment to her charity.
Prince Charles joined his wife.
If she had attended her event and Charles had joined the family in London then the small minds would have been wagging their big tongues.
If Camilla missed her event then the tongues would have wagged.

Yes, I think it's clear that the relationship between C&C and the Queen is strong enough that Charles and Camilla can meet their standing commitments without it being an issue. Charles and Camilla have the support of the Queen and Prince Phillip and that the reverse is true.

Plus, there were a *lot* of royals out to shake hands... the people there certainly seemed satisfied.

My first reaction on hearing that Charles and Camilla were attending their own street party was favorable as it made a statement that HM, The Queen is being celebrated all over the UK and not only in London.

It also happened to be one of Camilla's patronages that encourages the communities to get together and get to know and communicate with their neighbors around them. I thought it quite touching that Camilla brought a home made cake to the occasion such as any one of the people attending might do.

This past weekend has really lifted my spirits and reaffirmed my belief that there is still occasions where all can come together in peace and have a good time and just plain celebrate life. I only wish it was more contagious.

Thank you everyone who has shared pictures and links of this wonderful weekend of events! By far my favourite part was seeing members of the Royal Family interacting with the crowds in the Mall - I hope they do this again at the Platinum Jubilee!!

I must say that I'm watching the coverage of the Patrons Lunch and I'm just in awe of how Lady Louise was put out there -on her own- to learn the ropes of talking to a large group of strangers at a young age. It's a little uncomfortable to watch, but that's how one learns.

I would've been terrified at that age.

Prince Harry think that would've been the best birthday present for her. I think the family would like their grandparents to get more rest and just put their feet up for awhile.

The Queen's speech:

To everyone here today, and to those holding street parties elsewhere, I would like to say thank you for the wonderful support and encouragement that you continue to give me.

I hope these happy celebrations will remind us of the many benefits that can flow when people come together for a common purpose, as families, friends, or neighbours. And I pay tribute to the commitment, selfless devotion and generosity-of-spirit shown by the hundreds of charities and voluntary organisations represented here today. You are an example to us all.

I much appreciate the kindness of all your birthday wishes, and have been delighted and moved by the many cards and messages I have received. How I will feel if people are still singing “Happy Birthday” to me in December, remains to be seen!

Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon entertained Commonwealth Governors-General to Luncheon at Buckingham Palace at which The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were present.

Other Members of the Royal Family attended a Reception at Guildhall given by the Lord Mayor and the City of London Corporation.

Today is the Anniversary of the Birthday of The Duke of Edinburgh.

Her Majesty was present at The Queen's Birthday Parade on Horse Guards Parade this morning at which The Queen's Colour of Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards (2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards) was trooped.

The Queen was accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh (Colonel, Grenadier Guards), The Duke of Kent (Colonel, Scots Guards), The Prince of Wales (Colonel, Welsh Guards), The Duke of Cambridge (Colonel, Irish Guards) and The Princess Royal (Gold Stick in Waiting and Colonel, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

Her Majesty was attended by Field Marshal the Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank (Colonel, The Life Guards), Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall (Colonel, Coldstream Guards) and Major General Edward Smyth-Osbourne (Major General Commanding Household Division).

The Lord Vestey (Master of the Horse), Colonel Toby Browne, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Vernon (Mounted Equerries in Waiting), Captain Hugo Codrington (Coldstream Guards, Dismounted Equerry in Waiting) and Lieutenant Colonel James Gaselee (The Life Guards, Silver Stick in Waiting) were in attendance.

Colonel Crispin Lockhart (Chief of Staff), Lieutenant Colonel Harry Scott (Silver Stick Adjutant) and the Household Division Staff were present.

The procession was led by Lieutenant Colonel David Hannah, Irish Guards (Brigade Major Household Division).

The Troops on Parade, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel James Thurston, Coldsteam Guards (Field Officer in Brigade Waiting), received The Queen with a Royal Salute.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Henry of Wales, The Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke of York with Princess Beatrice of York and Princess Eugenie of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy and other Members of the Royal Family drove to Horse Guards Parade and witnessed The Queen's Birthday Parade.

On the conclusion of the Parade, Her Majesty drove in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of The Queen's Guard, preceded by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major Robert Skeggs, the Massed Mounted Bands of the Household Cavalry, the Sovereign's Escort of the Household Cavalry, under the command of Major Alexander Owen, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), and the Massed Bands of the Guards Division. On arrival at Buckingham Palace, The Queen's Guard entered the Forecourt and formed up opposite the Old Guard.

Her Majesty, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force, led by Wing Commander James Freeborough, Royal Air Force, to mark the official celebration of The Queen's Birthday.

Royal Salutes were fired today by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Green Park and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Captain George Cobb.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended the Patron's Lunch in the Mall, a celebration of Her Majesty's Patronage of over Six Hundred organisations within the United Kingdom and around the Commonwealth since 1952.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove down the Mall in the State Review Vehicle and were received at Admiralty Arch by Mr. Peter Phillips (Event Director, the Patron's Lunch).

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales, Joint Patrons, the Patron's Lunch, and Sir Stuart Etherington (Chairman of the Trustees, the Patron's Fund) addressed The Queen and Her Majesty was graciously pleased to reply. Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales, travelled back to Buckingham Palace and entered the Royal Box at the Queen Victoria Memorial to view the parade representing Her Majesty's Reign and Patronages.
