Lego never fails, does it? Some of this had been created before for the Jubilee. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=...65563053471702

A seriously brave man!
So many crews were lost during that raid.

BTW TV here in DK is showing big-time from the celebrations! Starting Friday forenoon and throughout the weekend.

No, I don't think so.

Yes I know.

Denmark:
Tv 2 (one of Denmark's two main channels) will broadcast both the The National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral and Trooping the Colour, while TV 2 CHARLIE will broadcast the Patron’s Lunch.

TV 2 CHARLIE has also dedicated their entire schedule from around 10:00 until around 00:00 both Friday, Saturday and Sunday to programs about the British Royal Family. They've already broadcasted the Horse Pageant from Windsor.

DR1 (the other big TV channel) will also broadcast the Trooping the Colour.

Norway:
NRK1 (Norway's largest TV channel) has already broadcast the Horse Pageant from Windsor and will in the coming weeks broadcast a series of documentaries about the Queen, while Norway's only News Channel will broadcast live from the celebrations this weekend.

They think that this is going to be a big celebration with millions of peoples in the streets, as we saw during the Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees in 1977, 2002 and 2012. What they don't understand is that this is a birthday and not a Jubilee.

The UK media doesn't cover this as they did during the Jubilees, and we will not see millions of peoples in the streets.

The media coverage and celebrations will be more like it was during the 80th birthday in 2006. We will see a few hundred people outside St Paul's Cathedral, a few thousand outside Buckinham Palace for the balcony appearance and perhaps 10,000 during the Patron's Lunch, but it looks like the weather are going to be bad again, as usual during the Queen's celebrations.

As I've said before on another thread: I was in Windsor with my British mother and her family for Her Majesty's 80th birthday. It was an amazing experience to see the people's Queen engaging with her public, and I and the others who were there will never forget it. My first experience with royal celebration was in 2002 (at the age of 14) when the Queen celebrated her Golden Jubilee. And I was in London for the wedding/Diamond Jubilee

I could have traveled to the UK and on to Windsor for the 90th birthday as well, but it had been difficult since I now live permanently in Norway with my new family/job situation. And I did not know that she was going to go on such a long walkabout, and I didn't know that she would be driven out in the crowds in her Queenmobile.

But one of my half brothers were there with some friends, and they will probably never forget it.

The TV coverage on April 21:
BBC News Channel and Sky News sent all the day until we got the news about Prince's death.

BBC One sent live from Windsor for two hours and sent the documentary Elizabeth at 90 in the evening. BBC Breakfast and the The One Show was also mainly about the birthday.

ITV sent their documentary Our Queen at 90 on March 27 and the Horse Pageant from Windsor on May 15. Both Good Morning Britain and This Morning was also mainly about the birthday on April 21.

And since I didn't had the time to post videos or many articles from the celebrations at Windsor on April 21, and no one else has done it - here are some:

Daily Fail article with pictures from all events on the day:

Britain prepares for three days of pageantry to celebrate The Queen's 90th birthday | Daily Mail Online
Quote:
Bunting has been strung across the streets and store fronts decorated with Union flags as the nation prepares to mark the Queen's official 90th birthday this weekend.

The monarch, whose actual birthday was on April 21, will mark the milestone publicly with three days of pomp and pageantry in London.

There are plenty of opportunities to take part in the celebrations - although some of the events are exclusive to the Royal Family and special guests.

The festivities will culminate on Sunday with a street party on The Mall, which will see some 10,000 people enjoy a picnic lunch and a special parade.

Tickets were balloted and have now all been issued, but those who aren't lucky enough to attend can still watch the fun on big screens in nearby Green Park and St James Park.

Another screen will be in place in Trafalgar Square, alongside a host of other entertainment including food stands, a football competition, dancing and royalty-themed games.

Celebrations start tomorrow with a special service at St Paul's Cathedral at 11am - although it is only for the Royal Family and their invited guests.

I didn't bother to read this article, but many good pictures, including a new one of HM and Philip: The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh don pink for official portrait for Philip's 95th birthday | Daily Mail Online

I think an opportunity was missed here; For his 95th birthday I would have loved to have seen a photo of him with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with Prince Philip in the middle centre in his position as Paterfamilias, where he is always going to be No. 1. Not for a minute though will I think he will think that way; he has always been a superb consort for The Queen, without being overly deferential, and still his own man. Well done HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

Thanks Royal Norway for finding that picture.

Heads up fellow Cdns!!

On tonight'sThe National, which will be on after Game Five of the Stanley Cup Final is over, there's going to be an interview w/Peter and Autumn Phillips. They're going to talk about the Queen, their relationship w/Granny and the responsibility of heading the Company in charge of Sunday's events.

I think this is the first time Autumn's done an interview. At least that I remember.

Ah, if only I were a 'fellow Cdn'! I'd love to see Autumn 'live' so to speak; I have seen Peter several times. But I'm here at the bottom of the world, so I won't see it. Have seen Canada, though, (Vancouver and Whistler and surrounds) and it reminds me of a larger version of NZ! Very beautiful (both countries)

I hope the weather is fine for the Mall 'street party'.
