Thank to everybody who has kindly taken the time to post pictures of Irene'a debut! :)
She is indeed a gorgeous little girl! No wonder her parents, her aunt Elena, uncle Felipe and aunt Letizia and grandmother Sofia were beaming with happiness after visiting her!
I also appreciated and liked how considerate Cristina and Inaki were with their sons during the presentation by making sure that they were part of it, even though it was clealry Irene's moment in the spotlight. Cristina had her arms around Juanito, Inaki played with Miguel, and Cristina held Irene closer so that Pablo and Miguel could kiss or touch their baby sister. It is obvious that they are very good and thoughtful parents. Irene is a lucky girl to be part of this loving family! :)
I missed seing the King and Queen as part of this presentation however. (They also didn't participate in Miguel's presentation however.)
My favourite picture, originally posted by Alisa. I love how Inaki and Cristina are looking at each other here -- still madly in love, and like newlyweds even eight years of marriage and four children later!
"Looking back on her short life I often wonder why we did not see that she was quite too good for this world, her fit companions were the Angels." ~Margaretta Eager about Princess Elisabeth of Hesse (1895-1903)
They (Diez Minutos) also say that she is a little smaller than her brothers:
" Juan weighed two hundred grams more than his sister and measured three centimeters more."
"Pablo weighed two hundred grams more than his sister and measured four and a half centimeters more"
"Miguel weighed three hundred grams more than Irene and measured two centimeters more "
The people of Spain met the newest member of their royal family for the first time on Wednesday. Infanta Cristina and her husband Iñaki Urdangarín were greeted by a large crowd of well-wishers when they emerged from Barcelona's Teknon Clinic with their three-day-old daughter.
Little Irene, who weighed in at 8lb 2oz when she made her debut on Sunday, is the royal couple's fourth child. Asked how she felt about welcoming her first daughter, Cristina affirmed she wouldn't have minded what sex the infant was, though she did confess: "It's an added joy after three boys."
Wrapped in a white blanket and dressed in a baby-grow, the new arrival remained asleep throughout the ten-minute walkabout. Her proud father meanwhile told fans outside the clinic that brothers Juan, Pablo and Miguel were just as delighted with the new addition to their family. "They've been drawing pictures to give her as presents," he revealed.
Irene is the sixth grandchild for King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. And the Spanish royal household is set to grow even more before the year is out, with her aunt Crown Princess Letizia expecting her first child in November.
