The Countess is a keen supporter of both game shooting and fox hunting and she has been criticised for both by so called 'animal rights' groups in the UK.
Hunting is a fact of social life for the aristocracy and Royalty in the United Kingdom.

Both photos are of Sophie at Clay pigeon, which she actually joins in with her father - not the royals.
I have never heard of her hunting or shooting game of any sort. It is, IMO, a mistaken belief that hunting is way of life for the aristocracy and Royals in the UK, when many of them do not join in and do not approve.

I'm new to forums but just wanted to say that these photos are great.
I still wish that Sophie would wear more family vault jewels. She'd look great in some of the more important tiaras.

Is this the first major trip Edward has made without Sophie since Louise was born?

I think the first trip to attend other Royal social events such as weddings or birthday celebrations.The events associated with Royal events they had attended to represent the Queen were:Wedding of Crown Prince Frederik and Mary Donaldson, Prince Albert II's enthronement in November 2005.Since Louise was born, Edward has also been on many Official Visits without Sophie(I will try to find the list of visits).However it was reported before that both of them would attend the birthday celebrations in Norway, i just don't know why Sophie did not attend.

Perhaps Louise had a cold. Sophie does not seem the type to leave her sick child with a nanny, no matter what King was expecting her!

Corazon. Those pics marked paparazzi are from Edward's visit to Swann Theatre School on the 17 January 2007. I don't think Louise is attending, or else she is one little super talented toddler.

I really like this couple. To me, they are a team in every sense of the word and a great asset to the British Royal Family. When I see HRH Prince Edward in any news item, I will immediately try and locate HRH The Countess and vice versa. This shows the unity they have forged into their roles. And they are so comfortable in their love for each other in public. No great contrived show of affection in public. They are the top (current) Royal couple in my books!! Hope that when it finally happens, HRH Prince William of Wales will travel down this road too.

Does the Earl see his nephews beyond the big extended family gatherings?

As Edward is most closest to the Wales boys in age, he might be a good "big brother"/mentor for them.

Default Countess of Wessex's brother & family

We never seem to hear anything of Sophie's brother and his family. Have seen pictures with her father but you never see I think his name is David pictured with her or attending events or more so invited by the royal family? It would be nice for Sophie to have her brother and family around now that her Mum has gone.

=====================

Just my view, but I doubt that Edward is close to the Wales boys. One never seems to hear anything about it, or see them together. Also, the antipathy between Charles and Edward (especially relating to Edward´s company trying to film William at university without his consent) would not have helped

I couldn'e agree with you more, and I think this is the feeling of the general public!
