There was a similar article on the DM - and the comments from the public were scathing about Andrew making these comments - a case of 'shooting down the message because of the messenger'.

Prince Andrew is off to Kuwait on a three day official visit from Monday at the request of the British government, his office says.

Prince Andrew is visiting Germany on 3-4 June as part of celebrations marking 300th anniversary of union of the crowns of Hanover & England.
 
So 300 years ago, the British and the Germans were besties, and 70 years ago, not so much. The timing of this visit, while no doubt appropriate, is a little awkward, I would think.

Will Technically 300 Years ago it was The Holy Roman Empire. Germany (The German Empire) was not created until about the 1860s

The Duke of York on his second day in Germany today, June 4:


He visited the State Museum of Lower Saxony in Hanover, Germany, that currently shows an exhibition marking the 300th anniversary. A celebration at Castle Herrenhausen followed.
