Not exactly a current event, but there isn't a general news and information thread about Princess Anne, so I decided to post this here. Please feel free to move if in the incorrect thread.

The fanatical loner who tried to kidnap Princess Anne believed he ought to be thanked for highlighting serious flaws in Royal security.
Ian Ball, who ambushed the Princess’s car en route to Buckingham Palace on March 20, 1974, said the police realising that the Royal Family needed better security was the ‘one good thing’ to come out of his ‘audacious’ crime.
Ball seeks to justify his actions in police files which were supposed to remain classified until 2048 but which have been obtained by The Mail on Sunday following a seven-month Freedom of Information battle.

This is the article which appeared in the Worcester News on 9th January (with picture)

This might be a case of very late reporting! Clothes the same as November

Princess Anne presents honorary award to Pembridge charity worker (From Worcester News)

Aha, mystery solved about the date, well done!
Local newspapers often cover a story and schedule it in to be published at a later date. As Anne's engagements are usually covered by the local press these days rather than the nationals, I think we often miss news about her.

On 15th January the Princess Royal opened the Farr Institute of Health Informatics Research at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

On 16 January, the Princess Royal visited the King’s Buildings Campus of the University of Edinburgh and saw the BRE Centre for Fire Safety Engineering. Princess Anne also toured the FloWave Ocean Research Facility at Kings Buildings and was given a demonstration of the test tank. The world-class facility - a circular 25 metre pool, 2 metres deep - is designed for testing marine energy devices. She watched as researchers showed how the tank can recreate waves and currents from coastlines around the UK, Europe and beyond. Princess Anne also visited the School of Biological Sciences, where she opened the new Wolfson Laboratories.

The Princess Royal visited the National Mining Museum Scotland, at Newtongrange, to commemorate its 30th Anniversary.

The Princess Royal visited the Veterinary Teaching Building of the Royal School of Veterinary Studies, and planted a tree to mark the start of work on Easter Bush Innovation Centre, at Roslin, Midlothian.

I like that the royal helicopter landed in a playing field, the children must have been excited about seeing Princess Anne there.
