Anne, Princess Royal Current Events 6: 1 January 2014

I already posted this in Anne’s fashion thread, but since it’s her birthday:

Oh my goodness, look at how young she is!!! Anne shares her birthday with my piano teacher, who turns 49 today but honestly still looks 35 at the very most! Next year their birth years and ages will flip (69 born in 1950; 50 born in 1969). Great, now I’ve got Bryan Adams’ Summer of ‘69 stuck in my head!

She also visited the Headway Worcestershire Brain Injury Centre in Worcester. And as Patron of the Butler Trust she visited HM Prison Risley in Warrington, Cheshire.

It is a pity that the self-praising RR's don't get off their collective duffs and cover Princess Anne and all the other working royals in depth. There are certainly enough of them and the work they cover is well worth publication and space in the papers and magazines they work for.

Unfortunately, the reality is that only 4 Royals (7 if you count the Cambridge children) sell newspapers, magazines and internet clicks. While they can get more revenue from featuring Kim Kardashian or some talentless pop singer/soap "star" (or the latest Markel drama or an "in depth" discussion of Kate's clothes and Pippa's bump), the editors are not going to give space to the working members of the RF who don't generate revenue for them.

I hate it, but it's not going to change.

The good thing about this board is that I can easily find out what's happening with those Royal's I actually enjoy reading about.

Vacation?

Just wondering, does anyone know - does the Princess Royal take a vacation? Does she go up to Balmoral during the summer when HM The Queen is there?

Yes she does go to Balmoral and to Sandringham. She spends a bit longer at both places with her mother than Andrew (who is at Balmoral for a weekend, with Sarah) and at Sandringham for about 24 hours.

Anne usually spends a couple of weeks in Scotland and is also at Sandringham for at least two weeks as well - although she may also undertake some engagements while there.

She does also have a couple of weeks off from duties during the year when she goes off with Tim.

As she is so low in the line of succession the media aren't interesting in reporting where she may go unless there are other younger royals around in clothes they can describe (after all that is all the media focusses on these days - not the actual work of the royals. If they did that there would be a lot more coverage of Anne, Andrew and Edward due to the amount of royal work they do).

What an interesting and moving project. It certainly puts the reality of the battle in perspective, much as the poppies at the Tower of London did a few years back.

Court Circular 18th November:
The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning attended Gloucestershire Remembrance Day at Cheltenham Racecourse and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Mr Edward Gillespie).
