A lovely article about Anne and positive press for Tim too.

I quite agree. I had never heard the Nanny Lightbody story.
I just wish the courtiers in general would learn to keep their lips zipped. It's kinda ridiculous to critique royal family behavior when you, yourself are a ghastly gossip. I wish courtiers were classier instead of so class conscious. :whistling:

Princess Anne looked beautiful (as always!) at the Royal Hospital Chelsea Founders Day Parade! I was wondering, what is the significance of the sprig of oak leaves that she "traditionally" wore?

:previous: The hospital was founded by Charles II, and the anniversary is celebrated around his birthday. Tradition says that Charles II avoided capture after his defeat at the battle of Worcester, by hiding in the branches of a royal oak. So traditionally the oak leaves are worn to celebrate Charles II.

Thank you for the wonderful history lesson! It is good to understand these traditions, as well as appreciate their beauty and symbolism.
